Hacked - Lost Meta Data
-
Our website was hacked last night and all data lost. I've worked over night to replace the destroyed data which was essentially things like all of our prices, testimonials, etc, etc.
Got that sorted but now notice that all our page meta data has disappeared, title, description, etc.
I'm worried that if I dont' enter the correct data that corresponds to Google "records" that we will lose our page one ranking.
I've gone into Webmaster Tools and also I've used SEOQuake but the pages found have their meta data stripped when I go into "source".
Before I start re-entering what I think would be the correct data I wondered if anyone had any advice please?
Thanks,
Colin

Thanks very much Keri.
It's refreshing to know that people like Doug and yourself care enough to help people like me especially after getting hacked by some of the baddies out there.
Thanks for your advice.
It's much appreciated.

Also don't forget to do the same on Bing! This is one time where it's handy that they seem to be a bit slower in updating things, though they also don't crawl as deeply. If it's an older site and you don't change it too often, the Wayback machine at web.archive.org may also help you out.

Hi Doug, yes it does still show the indexed pages and seems to still have the data too!
I initially tried it using SEOQuake which showed the indexed pages but without the data.
I thought doing it via "site:" with Google would have been the same.
Thanks so much. I'd better get busy!!

If you do a search for site:yourdomain.com on Google is it returning the hacked pages or does the index still list your correct titles?
What about Google's cached paged? Can you still see your old content? If you were only hacked last night Google's cache may still be intact.
What about the Wayback Machine, has that got any of your content indexed?

Google overriding meta description - retrospective?
Hi all, we run a furniture store and our results in Google.co.uk almost always use the page's content as the description in the search results, even though we have a correctly implemented meta description tag. The rival's pages that rank above and below us almost always show the ranking page's meta description in Google's results page. Our developer seems to think it's because we added the meta description tags long after the pages were first indexed by Google and he seems to think Google has "fixed" on the page content and is happy with that over our meta description ...but I've never heard of that before. Thank you.

Wrong meta descriptions showing in the SERPS
We recently launched a new site on https, and I'm seeing a few errors in the SERPS with our meta descriptions as our pages are starting to get indexed. We have the correct meta data in our code but it's being output in Google differently. Example: http://imgur.com/ybqxmqg Is this just a glitch on Google's side or is there an obvious issue anyone sees that I'm missing? Thanks guys!

Best Format to Index a Large Data Set
Hello Moz, I've been working on a piece of content that has 2 large data sets I have organized into a table that I would like indexed and want to know the best way to code the data for search engines while still providing a good visual experience for users. I actually created the piece 3 times and am deciding on which format to go with and I would love your professional opinions. 1. HTML5 - all the data is coded using tags and contains all the data on page in the . This is the most straight forward method and I know this will get indexed; however, it is also the ugliest looking table and least functional. 2. Java - I used google charts and loaded all the data into a

Pull multiple link data for multiple pages at once?
Hi guys, I was wondering if there is a tool or way to pull link data for a list of URLs/Pages at once to one single file with ahrefs or majestic. I know scrapebox can do this with OSE, but looking for a way to do this with the other backlink databases. Any ideas? Cheers. Lost all ranking after site-wide 301 redirect
Hi all I did a complete site-wide 310 redirect about 3 weeks ago for a site that had consistently been in Pos 1-5 for my targeted keyword ("low glycemic foods"). I changed the domain from low-glycemic-foods-org to low-glycemic-diet.com because I thought that was a more appropriate title and thru my readings I believed that if I carefully followed the recommended procedures I would quickly regain my SERP. Webmaster tools is showing that I have over 800 inbound links - many from very trustworthy sources including .edu, etc BUT my home page is nowhere to be found for the keyword search "low glycemic diet". My Seomoz onpage SEO score is an "A" Any enlightenment would be much appreciated.
