SEOMoz Campaign
-
Just how lagged are the rankings on SEOMoz Campaigns? They seems to be weeks behind what I actaully see.
-
Thank for clearing that up Rand. As I said we are seeing wild gyrations in rankings. In the 3 years I have been doing SEO for a few sites I have never seen anything like it. Hence my rant about Google the almighty machine and their continued march away from the little guy. The little guy does not pay the bills or create more billions... I get that. I realize that is a different topic.
Thanks for the details on the ranking.
Yes I use some of the other tools here on Moz. I am just trying to understand what the ranking interval was and based on what I saw I thought it was much older.

Hey guys - the ranking collections are indeed weekly. They may not match exactly what you see depending on personalization, geography, IP address, browser, and any/everything else Google uses to personalize, customize or test results, however, they are always current.
We don't ever do anything like say a ranking is updated without actually going and grabbing the SERP where it exists.
That said, we're unlikely to ever get to daily rankings updates. It's just not feasible with so many customers (16,500+ subscribers today tracking millions of keywords weekly). There are a few other services that, I believe, do provide daily rankings. AuthorityLabs can do this, though it may be price-dependent.
If rankings is the only reason you're using Moz and the Q+A, Pro content, webinars, tool collections, crawl data, opensiteexplorer, etc al. isn't needed, then you might want to consider one of these others. We'll be sad to lose you, but definitely want the best for marketers.

yeah hopefully moz sees this iono if Im willing to pay a $99/ month to be a forum member....

I use to use Advanced Web Rankings but my subscription ran out and did not really want to pay for it again but I guess if I want rankings that are at all current I will need to use some program. Only now as I understand it you have to be careful or you will get penalized for that. You can bet Target, REI, Amazon, Bizrate (a total useless piece of crap), all do just as they please and do not get penalized because they spend million on PPC.
In the last 3 years every move made is more of a move to kick the little guy to the curb. This will only accelerate in the comping years. In 3 to 5 year page one will be 100% paid.....mark my words....it is coming.

i completely agree with you i have the same issue with rank tracking im a new seo also and have been running up the ranks and it is really insignificant to track rankings with moz data. what i have been doing is a using a second browser with no cookies and no chache settings to track rankings so you might wanna try it that way.
i dont know if its possible for them to deliver data on a daily basis but thats really what i think small business seo needs is very micro data analysis (at least we do). when we change things on a daily basis to our websites it would be nice to have more up to date data.
-
Actually for me is seems to be about 2 months old. We were hit hard by penguin and it seems I am just now seeing that April debacal hit the rankings page.
Anyway.... perhaps it is ok when things are running smooth but in trying to monitor rankings more closely it seems quite useless.....
I know some people will want to jump on here and tell me I can't monitor rankings that closely that it is a fools game. Please don't bother ....I am tired of being preached to about big picture....yea there is that but anyone that had traffic cut in half needs to look at rankings weekly for a while.
Our rankings are fluctuation wildly from week to week. On page one for days and then no were and then back to page one and then to page 5 and then no where and back to page one. Google sucks and is penalizing white hats and still rewarding total spam.
Take any comparisons shopping site. That is not a site. It is a site that lists sites. That is spam.

it says it updates weekly but ive also noticed very out dated data for my site especially with link data. it might be because moz is for seos that run multiple campaigns and do things on monthly schedules because they manage multiple campaigns. maybe they should do more frequent updates for small business owners or people with like 2 or less campaigns that need more daily activity reports.

Should I use location in keywords in a campaign?
We're setting up 25 campaigns for clients and many of the keywords in each are identical. Rather than creating a keyword with a specific location for each client (pool builder san francisco), would it be more effective to use only "pool builder" as the keyword and then set the location for the San Francisco area? I'm concerned that we are going to run out of our keyword allotment since many of our clients have multiple locations.

Multiple Sites/Internal Pages Campaign
Can MOZ do reports/ranks/campaigns separately for each of our sites, then do separate keyword campaigns for specific internal content pages of each of the websites? For a law firm with both a defense and family law sites. We have multiple pages within each site, we will need to do separate and individual campaigns for assault, burglary, traffic tickets, ect. in our defense site. And we'll need other specific campaigns for other specific content in out family law site. Will Moz be able to accommodate our needs with their $99/mo plan or is that service only available for higher packages? (or is it even possible in ANY of their packages???) Thanks.

Question #3) My last question has to do with Some SEOmoz crawl diagnostics -
I recently fixed (or well, I am asking to make sure that this was the right thing to do in my first question posted a few minutes ago), a problem where all of my internal main sidebar category pages were linking using https://, which to my knowledge means SECURE pages. anyways, OSE, and google seem to be not recognizing the link juice. but my rank fell for one of my main keywords by 2 positions about a week after i made the fix to have the pages be indexable. Making my pages properly linked can't be a bad thing right? That's what I said. So I looked deeper, and my crawl diagnostics reports showed a MASSIVE reduction in warnings (about 3,000 301 redirects were removed by changing the https:// to http:// because all the secure pages were re-directing to http:// regular structure) and an INCREASE, in Duplicate Page Titles, and Temporary redirects... Could that have been the reason the rank dropped? I think I am going to fix all the Duplicate Page Title problems tonight, but still, I am a little confused as to why such a major fix didn't help and appeared to hurt me. I feel like it hurt the rank, not because of what I did, but because what I did caused a few extra re-directs, and opened the doors for the search engine to discover more pages that had problems (which could have triggered an algo that says hey, these people have to much duplicate problems) Any thoughts will be GREATLY appreciated thumbed, thanked, and marked as best answers! Thanks in advance for your time, Tyler A.

Can I exclude a sub-domain from SEOMoz campaigns?
We have recently implemented a white label site that is on a sub-domain. The site employs noindex on most of the pages I imagine due to duplicate content concerns on other white label versions of the site. It has led to a spike of over 14 thousand notices on our report. Is there a way to exclude a sub-domain from the SEOMoz scans and reports?

SEOmoz not displaying correct amount of links?
When I go to the link analysis page where ti shows how many links my site has and how many my competitors have...it shows that I have 0 links. But Google Webmaster Tools shows my site as having 149 links. Is this a glitch with zeomoz or whats going on? The reason I initially subscribed to seomoz was to track my links. Thanks

Why does SEOMoz crawler ignore robots.txt?
The SEOMoz crawler ignores robots.txt It also "indexes" pages marked as noindex. That means it is filling up the reports with things that don't matter. Is there any way to stop it doing that?

Help with SEOmoz API
Hi guys, I'm trying to make API requests from my webserver via PHP. I'd like to retrieve data from the SEOmoz URL Metrics API. Unfortunately I always get the error response "unauthorized" even when I copy and paste the Sample Valid API Signature generated by your system into the browser. Is Signed Authentication not longer supported? I even tried the sample PHP Code SignedAuth.php but there's the same problem, too. If signed authentication is not longer available, do you have a code example for the basic http authorization? Thanks, Brandon

Campaign Manager - Keyword Grouping
Hey, I was just thinking that it would be useful to be able to group keywords by page or some other factor in the campaign monitor keyword rank checking tool (I am sure it's called something better than that). Maybe it's just me, but I am struggling a little with this for relatively smaller sites so if I could tag each keyword and filter / group them by the tag it would be another useful tool for my seo utility belt. Fairly painless to implement as well I would imagine. 1. Create tags 2. assign tags to keywords with a drop down (optional) Would be a useful tool when exporting data to group by tag etc. Just a thought. 🙂 Marcus
