Anyone Still Use Article Directories?
-
Thinking of phasing this out. Too many spammy links in these.
Does anyone still use article websites for 'white hat' SEO? E.g. create a high-quality article, then post it using 'branded' anchor text, e.g. link is the name of the business or URL.

yes -its called guest posting now
(we no longer see the value of article directories)

I really don't see too much value in article marketing at this point. If you made a really high quality article, why would you want to waste it, by posting it into a place where no one would ever read it!
I consider guest blogging to be a stronger strategy overall. It takes some more work from you up front, but in the long run, it will pay bigger dividends.
Search out a list of 20 to 30 blogs that write good articles in your industry. Reach out to them (either a contact form, or Twitter, or LinkedIn ,etc), and see if they accept guest blog submissions.
If they do, send them your article for review.
If it gets posted, you'll have a link from a respectable site, that people actually read, and will send you some traffic over time as well. It can be a good way to make connections with people that have similar interests as well.

I agree with Francisco, if you are an authority website and then you are playing a little bit with article spinning then this might help you boosting your ranking in a short run… but as I am witnessing Google’s eye on low level link building I would highly recommend avoiding it…
If you are talking about writing 1 article for 1 article directory website then I have personally used this and results are kind of positive but to be honest this is not going to give you a BIG boost so I would prefer if you can use your same time and effort in something more valuable…then you should consider that!

if you are talking about article spinning, it can still work. In fact, I have a friend who did it and rankings haven't gone down in 10 months. But the website I am talking about is an authority website and has been around for many years with a good link profile.
If your site is new, I would forget about it and use the money to buy credibility with a company like the BBB.

Using sitewide links to improve link profile?
Hi Guys... When I look at my competitor's link profile, they often have thousands of backlinks. For example, one of our main competitor, he got 3,400 backlinks in total but only 80 referring domains. When I look at my link profile, I have around 50-60 referring domains, but hardly 80 backlinks. My question is, is it okay to get a few sitewide links (no-follow of course!) to get to the thousands backlinks? Or I will be able to achieve top rankings with my current link profile? Thanks!!

Yahoo Directory inclusion of Spanish Websites
Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone of you know if the Yahoo Directory accepts Spanish websites. My website has its 100% market in Mexico, so i havent seen the need to put an english version of the site. I dont know if i can accomodate my site under regional or something in order to avoid translating the ecommerce site. Or i must put an english version of the site. I would deeply thank your comments. Thanks,

Directory Submissions = Negative?
I see that a lot of SEO companies offer a large 5,000 directory submission package with slow, 160 day submissions. I don't mind spending the money to have this done, but my question is... would they help, or would they actually hurt my rankings? Since a lot of these directories are basically just copies of each other on different domains. As an added question, would it be worth submitting to all of the general directories on this list? http://www.seomoz.org/directories

How to find article sites that will be very picky
I'd like to write good, unique content, and one of the places i was looking at was article repositories. I do understand that most of them have been spammed to death, but I was wondering how I would go about finding ones that would accept my article. I do realize that niche news/forum/informational sites are probably my best bet. Beyond that, would would be a step down or a 'general' article directory where I could get something approved and post content that is high quality. I'm not sure I have time to go around to every niche site and make the handshakes necessary at this time.

Has anyone seen positive results from using Submiteaze to submit to directories? I know an SEM agency that uses it for clients' link building campaigns, but I don't know if it is worth buying. Are there better alternatives?
I would like to start a link building initiative at my company for a new website, and would like to know if the value of the links built using Submiteaze would be worth the money.
