Dentist office website has foreign country backlinks. Scrap it or Move On

Another SEO person who was working my potential dental customer website managed to hookup over 147 backlinks to various bogus weather sites, watch sites, chinese sites etc.
The dentist owns the URL which is "dentist" plus his zipcode. Is it worth continuing SEO on this site or should I scrap the URL? I am worried that Google may take action on this site sometime in the future and all the work I will do will be lost.
He does have another website, because SEO's keeps trying to sell dentists microsites... This site isn't too bad but he doesn't own the URL but the url is a combination of the two doctors names and isn't easy to remember... and we would have to spend time trying to gain control of the URL.
Suggestions?

I agree with Joseph and Robert, in saying that the title of your company sounds a bit spammy to begin with. Maybe it's best if you use something along the lines of "ChicagoDentist.com" or even "ChicagoCosmeticDentistry.com" these allow you to use a keyword and sound more relavent to your audience.
I would also suggest starting fresh and making an update to work on "local signals" such as Merchant Circle, Google Local, LocalEze. These signals will help the page crawl up in local search and also allow other customers to review the company, which we all know in this day and age is a good thing.
As others have mentioned you do have the option of using a disavoy tool, but only Bing has such a tool right now and Bing only accounts for 38% of the search market, so you're going to be missing out on the other 70% and there's no way telling when Google will come out with such a tool.

This sounds like a good hybrid approach. Dentist+zip does sound spammy to me and using the doctors name in the URL doesn't give us any keywords we can use. I'll try to come up witha decent URL that looks both professional and keyword rich.

I agree with Alan and furthermore, I believe being an ethical SEO, your Job is to build quality links from relevant resources… in that case your job should be to build as many quality links as possible to make the link profile look natural… the more natural your link profile would be the more credibility it will have in the eye of Google and other search engines…
I believe you should continue with the current domain and start building quality links on it.

I agree with Alan re the hold off on scrapping the site. And, if there is a way to utilize what weight it does have, use KW research and see what type of quality domain that is exact match you can come up with. An example would be LodiCosmeticDentist.net, etc. (Then use 301 redirects from Dentist90210.com as you know to do.)
Handling dental sites, I never use smiles, smile, teeth, etc. as they are not terms that are searched for and I prefer a domain have some semblance of a keyword in it, if not an exact match.

Not knowing to much about the client I would probably just scrap it and start over for a few reasons.
1. If I'm understanding correctly the website is like dentist32432.com which feels a little spammy for me if I saw it in the SERP. I think that something with his name or another more unique identifier may be more helpful. In my SERP page I get a few results for urls like www.'townnamesmiles'.com and stuff like that. Try to get a domain that is creative and brand building.
2. The links probably aren't quality and not giving much advantage plus, who knows when google will roll out the link disavower and how it will work. It may just hurt more in the long run. If he has any links from local organizations it probably won't be to hard to get them change them.
3. I think a lot of people will just type 'dentist' in which case you get the big block of local results. I would try to optimize for that by trying to get some reviews, having a little social media thing going, etc...
This is all assuming the the current domain isn't ranking well and not driving business. However if it is and it's a competitive market I would take my chances with it.

Bing allowes you to diavow links, and Goolge is planning to do the same soon, so i would wait till then then disavow the links you dont trust.

Pages mirrored on unknown websites (not just content, all the HTML)... blackhat I've never seen before.
Someone more expert than me could help... I am not a pro, just doing research on a website... Google Search Console shows many backlinks in pages under unknown domains... this pages are mirroring the pages of the linked website... clicking on a link on the mirror page leads to a spam page with link spam... The homepage of these unknown domain appear just fine... looks like that the domain is partially hijacked... WTF?! Have you ever seen something likes this? Can it be an outcome of a previous blackhat activity?

Lots of websites copied my original content from my own website, what should I do?
1. Should I ask them to remove and replace the content with their unique and original content? 2. Should I ask them to link to the URL where the original content is located? 3. Cross-Site Links with different Country Code Domains
I have a question with the penguin update. I know they are really cracking down on "spam" links. I know that they are wanting you to shift from linking keywords to the brand name, unless it makes sense in a sentence. We have five sites for one company in the header they have little flag images, that link to different country domains. These domains all have relatively the same domain name besides the country code. My question is, linking these sites back and fourth to each other in this way, does it hurt you in penguin? I know they are wanting you to push your identity but does this cross-site scheme hurt you? In the header of these sites we have something like this. I am assuming the best strategy would probably be to treat them like separate entities. Or, just focus on one domain. They also have some sites that have links in the footer but they are set up like:

How can do I report a multiple set of duplicated websites design to manipulate SERPs?
Ok, so within one of my client's sectors it has become clear that someone is trying to manipulate the SERPs by registering tons of domains that are all keyword targeted. All of the websites are simply duplications of one another and are merely setup to dominate the SERP listings - which, at the moment, it is beginning to do. None of the sites have any real authority (in some cases 1 PA and DA) and yet they're ranking above much more established websites. The only back links they have are from dodgy-looking forum ones. It's all a bit crazy and it shouldn't be happening. Anyway, all of the domains have been registered by the same person and within a two-month time period of each other. What do you guys think is the best step to take to report these particular websites to Google?

When to give up on a website with a Google penalty?
I recently had a Google 60 penalty hit my website. The main two issues were that I had a person helping me with SEO and they bought some links. The second issue is that I own about 90 URL's in the my vertical. I created about 60 one page sites for these keyword targeted domains. I then linked these sites to main site. Big mistake! I kept these URL's all on the same server as my main site. In October 2010 I noticed my site hits dropped dramatically. I started looking for the issue. I didn't know which issue caused the penalty. I fixed both issues in November 2010 and asked Google for reconsideration in early December 2010. I kept link building for my site by finding quality links.I was extremely honest with Google. I gave them all of the domains I own and I told them the name of the person that bought links for me and the websites where those links were placed. As of late February 2011 a Google search for my domain still showed up in approximately the 64th position. I recently asked Google again to lift the penalty. I basically told them that I fixed all of my issues that led to the penalty and let them know I have been waiting for almost 3 months. I told them I have put the past 2 years of my life into this website and begged them to forgive me. I also asked them to let me know if my site was never going to be forgiven? I got the typical canned response from the Google team. As of today the penalty is still in effect. I just want to know when you should give up on a site. I have spent about $20,000 on this site and about 2 years of hard work. I don't want to give up, but I don't want to keep putting my hard work and time into the site if it will never escape the dreaded Google penalty. Do you think I should continue to wait and if so how long? Anything else I can do to persuade Google to release me from this penalty hell? If I do abandon the site and start from scratch what steps should I take? Do I need a new server? What if any content can I take from my current site and transfer to the new site? If I can how do I do this without getting another penalty or lose the credit for the original content. I created about 2,000 pages of original content for this site. I'd love to be able to transfer this content if I have to start from scratch. Any ideas or detailed help plans would be greatly appreciated.
