Massive drop off in my google rank. Why?

Hi recently I've noticed a steep drop in my google ranks for a couple of my sites. I was at 2 then I fell to so that I'm not even in the top 50. Can anyone help explain the massive decrease?

As Malcolm said, it's most likely the recent Mozscape update that came out Friday evening. That index was about half the size of the previous index, so a lot of your links could not be showing.

If you used seomoz to look at the links then you may notice that there are 200 fewer links because of the recent updates to the mozscape. It contained far fewer domains than the last index update so link profiles look naturally smaller because of this.
There is the other case though that these 200 links have been lost which means less juice flowing to your site and lower ranking as a result. You probably need to diversify your link strategy. What kind of links did you lose? Were these directory links, blogroll links?

Ok so I took a look at my backlinks and noticed that I'm missing over 200 that were there Friday but aren't there now. That could be a problem.

I agree with everything that Malcolm said. Remember that Google has released massive updates so far in 2012 in Panda/Penguin that are designed to devalue some links, that us web-owners had previously gotten.
This could be at the root of your problem. -
Sorry about your drop in rankings, it can be frustrating when this happens but I think you'll have to give us a bit more information to try and discover why your rankings dropped. Have you had a look at your backlinks? You may have had a drop off in the number of links pointing at your site, particularly low quality article/directory links that Google is devaluing.
Have you changed any content? Had a look at your robots.txt file and make sure nothing is no-indexed? You need to have a look at all these things before jumping to a conclusion.

Wrong page ranking and rank drop, help!
Dear Moz community I would like to hear your advice about our current SEO problems. Our website is www.poolsonline.nl. This is a website where people can learn the Polish language on our website. This website has been online since 2007. The website got really outdated, so we built and launched a new version on March 1st (one month ago). We have created a salespage that we would like to rank for the keywords 'cursus Pools' (Polish course) first of all and 'pools leren' (learn Polish) secondly. The page is https://www.poolsonline.nl/cursus-pools-leren-spreken/ The old website was on rank 4-5 (roughly) for 'cursus Pools' and 'pools leren'. When we launched the new website we were on the top 5 with two of our pages. We were even on rank 1 and our salespage was also showing on the first page and often also in the top 5 (below the 'wrong' page of ours). We got quite a lot of trafic and new clients. However the problem was that the wrong page was ranking higher. We wanted our salespage to rank and not our home page (https://www.poolsonline.nl/) and not our free lesson (https://www.poolsonline.nl/lessen/groeten-en-gesprek-voeren-in-het-pools-les-1/). So what we did: Read/watched recourses about this problem: https://moz.com/blog/wrong-page-ranks-for-keywords-whiteboard-friday and https://moz.com/blog/wrong-page-ranking-in-the-results-6-common-causes-5-solutions and others. Removed the keywords (cursus pools en Pools leren) from the wrong pages (home and free lesson pages). Optimized the Salespage for these keywords Improved internal linking with these key words to our salespage Worked on link building for our salepage. We got about 5-10 links to our salespage in the first week of March (5 seems to be significant for this competition and we are working on more). These links are not yet in Moz OSE, but Google has indexed these pages and links. We are now on the bottom of page 1 or on page 2 for 'cursus Pools' and 'Pools leren' and not with the desired page Questions we have for you to help us: Why do you think our salespage is not showing up anymore for these keywords ('cursus pools' and 'pools leren')? Do you think we got a penalty for over optimization or bad links? What can we more to get our salespage to rank for these keywords? Submitting pages to google to expidite them finding links to my site
Is it a good practice to submit a page linking to my site to expedite google finding the link or is it better to wait for the google spider to find it? Thanks, Ron!

Google indexing nofollow links
Hi Guys I have yellowpages.com.au appearing in the link profiles for some of my clients, but not in others (even if clients without the link in their profile have had an actual link on yellowpages.com.au longer than some who do have it in their profile). My understanding is that Google MAY eventually index a nofollow link... My question is what would cause Google to actually index it?

Rankings unchanged
I have been working away on my site for almost a month now, following all the advice I have gotten here and things seem to be going great. I have built a pretty large 400+ number of backlinks from blog posts, press releases, forum posts etc. Everything is very nice and white hat, really almost nothing spammy at all, maybe a couple of blog comments that I shouldn't have made but nothing in the big scheme of things. The problem is that my position in SERP has not changed at all. Its strange my on page SEO got me to the first page of all my keywords but from there I have not moved a bit. I am local service site and I am still waiting for my pin from google places (third try) and I know that will have a huge effect on my main city. I also have landing pages in 3 other small local cities though and those haven't budged a bit either. I just wanted to see what people here had to say, possibly I am just not patient enough? it has been probably 1.5 weeks since my links really started to index and show up in webmaster tools.
