Relaunch website

Our website was hosted at domain X , the webdesigner decided to host the new website at domanin Y
We ranked very wel for specific keywords with domain X. We lost all our rankings with the new domain Y
The webdesigner did not redirect domain X to domain Y !!!
Everything happened 4 weeks ago
What to do ?
My proposal , installing old wbsite again on domain X and redirect domain Y to X
Or is there a better solution to get the rankings back ?

Tatal agree. The most important action to do is redirect your old domain to your new one, and create new and fresh content for the new one.

Hiya,
Mat offers a correct insight into redirecting the old site to the new site.
This looks complicated though. For example, how many pages were there on the old site and have you set up a corresponding one-to-one mapping between the old site content and the new site content?
Is the old site still in the Google index? If not, then you may have to resurrect the old site and try to gain those rankings over a period of time.
Setting up a domain redirect will help if it was your domain that was ranking well for keywords. If you had tonnes of internal pages that were ranking, then I will suggest that you bring up the old site and work out a migration plan with a specialist. Otherwise, most of your internal pages' rankings would not carry forward to the new domain and your conversions will, eventually, suffer.
Best of Luck,
Rajesh Dhawan

The first, and easiest, thing to try would be to redirect from the old domain to the new one. You don't need to install the old site again to do that.
With most hosting set-ups you can "park" another domain over the main one. If you do that it will appear to work. However you also need to ensure that you have a 301 redirect in place. This is just one line added to an .htaccess file on the server. If your web guy doesn't know this stuff find someone who does to make sure it is in place and correct as it is vital (then start looking for a new web guy)
That will at least ensure that any link equity the old domain has is being passed to the new site. However it doesn't address whether the new site is as well optimised as the old one. The on page optimiser tools here on seomoz might be useful in checking that. It is quite simplistic though and it is only dealing with a page at a time rather than the overall site. However it might give you an indication as to whether you are likely to face problems with the on site stuff.
Hope that is some help.

Single Page on my client's website is not crawling and indexing new changes. What could be the possible reason?
I made several changes on client's website on different pages, changed titles, add content on few pages, moved blog from subdomain to sub directory. Everything is crawled but there is one page on the website (not part of the blog) that isn't getting crawled in Google and picking up changes. The last crawl of the website is 2 days back whereas that page was last crawled on 30th sep. I just wanted to know the possible reasons and has anyone encountered this before?

Best practice for a website where the publications (catalogues) expire frequently
Hi guys, Hope to find some smart SEOs around here and where I can to contribute to the community! I wanted to share an issue we are having with our website, which is focused on the promotional flyers of the supermarket chains. These are often valid for a short period of time and then expire. So it makes no sense to keep them but also, if we delete them, that would create a lot of 404s or something. So how do you think it is the best way to go around this problem? should we delete them? or when deleted to redirect the dead pages to the homepage? or keep them in an archive live site.com/brand/archive/ ? Thank you so much for any opinions, much appreciated! Best

Will Google penalise me for duplicating my own website on a new domain?
Hi guys, Currently, we are using Magento Enterprise to run two separate ecommerce websites, for arguments sake lets say these two websites are ElectronicsX.com and electronicsY.co.uk. ElectronicsX.com isn't doing too well, it has little traffic, makes next to nothing each month and is just a waste of resources. ElectronicsY.co.uk on the other hand is getting 30,000 unique visits every month and is over exceeding every month in terms of revenue in sales. At the moment, the only traffic we get from Europe tends to be the odd "word of mouth" customer and English customers who have emigrated to Europe but still like to use English companies. We can't rank on Google FR or ES or anything like that because the website we have "electronicsY" is on a .co.uk TLD (a GeoTLD). So what we want to do is take ALL the content from electronicsY.co.uk and place it on electronicsX.com so that we can start targeting Europe and ranking in the serps internationally. What sort of effect will that have in terms of penalisation from Google? Or because the websites are on the same C block, would it have any effect at all? Thanks guys Tom

How to Resolve Google Crawling Issues for My eCommerce Website?
I want to resolve Google crawling issues for my eCommerce website. My website is as follow. http://www.vistastores.com/ Google have crawled only 97 webpages from my website. My website is quite old. (~More than 6 months) But, Google have indexed only 97 webpages. I have created one campaign over SEOmoz tool and found some errors over there. So, I just assumed that due to it Google did not crawled my website. But, I have created one another campaign for my competitor website to know actual status and reason behind it. I found that, my competitor website have more error compare to me but, Google have crawled maximum pages compare to me. So, What is reason behind it? How can I improve my crawling rate and index maximum webpages to Google? [6133009604_af85d29730_b.jpg](img src=) 6133009604_af85d29730_b.jpg 6133009604_af85d29730_b.jpg 6139706697_4e252fdb82_b.jpg

Panda Update and Website Content
According to the Panda Update information, website content that is or was written to help with SEO is now not the best idea, but content that is very informative and interesting is the way to go. But if you have an Ecommerce Website how can you write informative bookmarking content, if each product you sell is very similar, and the information for the product is just details about the product. Its hard to write good content for an eCommerce website. We have 300+ products that are all similar, but if we would write content about each product, it would be similar and not interesting to read. People just want to purchase the product, not read a bunch of content. How do websites that sell many products and not content driven websites rank well in search?
