Social Media and its importance for organic ranking
-
Hi Community,
maybe this question hasn't to be answered directly, but can be answered with a link. I am sure the answer must be out there on the web...
I have a company, a companies website and a companies facebookpage. Now the question: What kind of user activity on my facebookpage is good for the organic ranking in google? Is it only good, when people click the "like"-Button on my homepage (which gives me a nofollow-backlink from facebook - unfortunatelly in most cases hidden for googles eyes)? Is it useful when I get a "like" directly on my facebookpage? Or is it the best to have a status on facebook that is shared very often?
Will Google see the connection between a shared facebook status and my website (of course the website is on the info page of my facebooks site...)?
I ask that because I wonder how (for example) a viral picture on facebook shared very often can helb my business.
Uuuuh, so, where's my answer on the web?
Thank you!

I found this a few weeks ago, you may see this as proof you may not but thought I would share anyway.

I have not seen any detailed information from Google on how they assess social media activity. (IF anybody knows of some please let us know.)
**Â (which gives me a nofollow-backlink from facebook - unfortunatelly in most cases hidden for googles eyes)..**
Google can see these.  They are not supposed to give you pagerank benefit. Initially google was not counting these links in the denominator of the pagerank equation but then they decided to add them into the denominator and didn't say anything to anybody until after the fact. So, when Google says how they do something I use that information with great confidence for a very short time and aways suspect that they could have changed their mind.
If you think that getting likes on facebook is beneficial to your rankings (I think that).... then the most powerful thing that you can do is give visitors content that they will like.

I think this year it's v.v.v.v important to be active in G+ too once you have the icons set up as Robert suggested.
On G+ there's data that shows how the amount of circles you are in has much more of an effect on G's algo than the engagement from people with you in their circles (+1s on posts) etc (Sort of the opposite to FB/TW)

Andre,
Don't know what type of business you have or website, but for me I think the most important indicator is the social icons on a site. We put Twitter, FB like, FB Share, and G+1 on almost all pages of all sites. Our experience is that as we watch people tweet, +1, and like or share a page it does improve the ranking over time.
We have clients who come in adamant about a branded FB page, etc. and unless they are really into branding, we do not push on that piece. Yes, have a reasonable page, but get the icons on first.
As to the viral picture shared often I think it does help, but have no empirical data on that. My suggestion is to have a link to the site where they can do something with the picture. Remember to have the icons there as well.
Hope it helps,

Recommendations for a collaborative workflow for an integrated content marketing / social media campaign?
We are currently using an excel spreadsheet that is a homemade checklist of all of the various places we want to post. We take one topic, and we make various formats (video, promotional image, blog article, press release) and we list all of the posts we want to make in all of the channels (Twitter, LinkedIn, FB, instagram, pinterest, etc.). Is there any articles that describe a more streamlined way to do this? We have tried basecamp but looking for other options. We have a small team of about 5 people that collaborate to design, write, and post the content. I was looking for an article that describes the workflow that might simplify the communication and execution of this process. Thanks!

Pay with a Tweet (or other social payments) in the Freemium world
Hi Mozer(s), I work for a company which provides cloud-based collaboration environments for companies. Like many companies in this field, we offer a Free package, which gives users enough capabilities to explore our tool under business-alike circumstances. However, we currently dont have a time limit for our free version - which, makes us (I think) quite unique from a competitive standpoint. But consequently, it also means a lot of users see no immediate need to upgrade to a business package. If maintaining this business model, we are considering various options in how to generate more awareness. The company is quite new and can generally only get better results of SEO and social media advancement. One alternative is to start charging for signup to the Free package, using Social payments scheme, i.e. get access to the collaboration tools for free if liking, tweeting, plusing us, using a pre-defined message, hashtag, etc, using a hybrid approach, allowing users to edit some/all of the message. It may have an impact on number of sign ups, but are there other potential negative effects? I have seen some comments, both positive and negative, about its SEO impact, mostly positive, not least from this [Youmoz post](How To: Win Tweets and Influence Search Engines with PayWithaTweet).- though unlikely to have a direct SEO effect, it can increase sharing, exposure and SERP presence. But any flip sides social payment users should be aware of? Thanks in advance.

Does creating a Facebook App help your social SEO factors?
We're looking to build out an event countdown widget for Facebook users to install as an App. Should we just focus on creating a useful app, or should we be trying to also optimise it for Likes, Comments, Shares etc. Having read the Searchmetrics 2012 report we're starting to ramp up our FB efforts...

OK, I'm not being rude, but I have a few clients who work in areas that really don't stimulate people - they are just needed. Examples are: Accountants

Chartered SurveyorsÂ
Forklift truck suppliers Not the most inspiring list... So my question is whether to pursue the whole social media side of SEO with them. I mean, who wants to "like" their chartered surveyor? Do they have anything interesting to "tweet" about? If anyone has experience of this type of field, then any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,0 -
Has anybody else noticed that Google has made a significant change to their SERP? There is a lot of social data reported from LinkedIn, Youtube and Facebook (includes page likes and activity) when you search by company name. Thoughts anybody?

Having tried Yoono and Tweetdeck I'm leaning towards Tweetdeck for ease of use.... Managing 5 facebook accounts, 9 facebook pages and 6 twitter accounts at the moment... Any other suggestions for tool or software I should consider?
