Breadcrumbs in SERPs
-
Hi there,
Breadcrumbs now showing for my websites in Google.co.uk & Google.ie
I have 2 websites .co.uk & .ie both having the same content. There are legalities for having 2 separate domains. Anyway...
When I click on one of the breadcrumbs in the SERPs in Google.ie it takes me to the .co.uk website, however the title for that result takes me to the .ie website as it should.
I have checked my breadcrumbs on the .ie website and all is fine, however in SERPs it takes me to the .co.uk website, any ideas why this maybe?
Kind Regards
-
Sorry Robert, that site was just an example.
If you click here
We should be listed no.2 for hot flushes
Domain is avogel

Here is what the domain is that is resolving:
http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Menopause/Pages/Selfhelp.aspx
I was looking to see if your nhs.ie was anywhere on the serps by looking at the actual links in the query code. I have yet to find an occurrence of the - .ie.
So, if you have both and one is for UK and one for Ireland, I would assume that at some point based on what you are saying I would see a url like above, but:
http://www.nhs.ie/Conditions/Menopause/Pages/Selfhelp.aspx

Hi Robert,
What website are you looking for?
-
Gary,
Yes, a canonical pointing to the .co.uk from the .ie is going to resolve as .co.uk. I have gone from every portion of the SERP listing on both (Google.ie, Google.uk). Whether on the title above the url or the sitelinks ALL resolve to .uk.
Also, on the pages I checked, there is no rel=canon for the .uk site you have.
I have yet to see in the SERPS any .ie page you have. So, are you sure both are ranking?
-
Hi Robert,
Sorry, I am totally lost on what you trying to explain.
The issue is not the way these sitelinks or breadcrumbs look. If I am searching in Google.ie for a particular keyword which my .ie website ranks for, in the actual results it shows breadcrumbs which is great as it may improve CTR, anyway when I click on one of the breadcrumbs in takes me to the .co.uk website, however if I actually click on the title of the result it takes me to the .ie website as expected.
One thing I mentioned is that I am using a canonical tag on the .ie website pointing to the .co.uk website, maybe this is doing something? One thing I noticed is that if I looked at a cached version of the .ie website in Google.ie it shows the .co.uk website.
Hope the above helps

Wow, that's actually kinda cool the way it renders, but I am going to say it is site links. First, I am on a MacBook Pro with 1920 X 1200 res. and was using Chrome latest when I hit the link you provided. I have attached the Chrome Screen Shot and then a Firefox Screen Shot.
If you look in Firefox you see the same thing resolving as Site Links more clearly. So, then i did search in Google.uk and Google.ie and used the same search menopause choices nhs.
Each time I got the .uk site. And, each time it was the .uk site that was in the serps. Always resolved to same.
If you look at the third image which is US non personalized search, you will see the first four results have sitelinks like you are seeing in Chrome.
Hope this clarifies.

Hi Alice,
Yes, both websites are geo-targeted.
What I can say is recently we added a canonical tag to the .ie website pointing to the .co.uk website as I belief it was having a negative impact on our ranking for the .co.uk website in Google.co.uk, so maybe the canonical tag has some sort of influence on these breadcrumbs?
When I look at the cached version Google has made in Google.ie of the .ie website, it shows the .co.uk version of the website, is this normal?
-
Hi Gary, I'm sorry I haven't come across that before but have you geo-targetted the sites through Webmaster? http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=62399

Gary,
When you say breadcrumbs, are you meaning site links? That when you click on one of the sitelinks it takes you to the wrong site?

Does Google frown on using 3 different page titles with same content to secure the top 3 results in SERPs?
Is it frowned upon by Google to create 3 different pages with the sames content yet different titles to secure the top three results in SERPs? For example: Luxury Care Homes in Liverpool Care Homes in Liverpool Private Care Homes in Liverpool The page titles are different with slightly different meta data but the user content is exactly the same, would this be considered a cheeky win or negative to rankings?

Irrelevant Landing Pages are Ranking on Google SERP
Hi, I have noticed that Google likes to rank random pages on my site higher in the SERPs than the actual relevant content page for that service. Please let me know why it is happening?

Page Title shown in SERPS not the same as
Hi all, I'm trying to get a homepage to rank for a certain term, but the page keeps showing up in the SERPS with the "Brand Name: Keyword" when I have written it as "Keyword - Brand Name" in the <title>tag. I can't even see "Brand Name" Keyword" in the code of the page so I don't know where Google is pulling this from? </p> <p>I have <meta name="robots" content="noodp,noydir"/> on the page.</p> <p>I'm running Yoast and have removed the Brand from the Site Name and the Page Title for the homepage is "Keyword - Brand Name" in WordPress. I've changed the meta description so I can see the page has been crawled and re-indexed as the new meta description is showing in the SERPs</p> <p>Any idea, where Google is pulling this Page Title from and how I can get it changed to read the actual <title> tag? Or is there something I need to change in WordPress?</p> <p>Thank you!</p></title>

Is Video Sharing sites is still useful for SERP ?
Well I am not talking about the audience views, i am asking whether it is good for submitting videos to multiple video sites for backlinks and any sharp movements for the keywords. I seen most of the sites are nofollow which is not useful but for the link diversification is that something good ?

SERP Drop overnight for one of our domains - could it be the title changes?
Hi Scratching our heads here over SERP drop for some of our product pages, Although they are all uniquely titled with the product name, we have recently added 4 words at the end of our title, like a slogan which are repeated on every one of our product pages. However, we've also seen a drop, but not as far, on related category pages, these have unique titles. When we talk about "unique title" being important for SEO, does that mean 0 reptition between page titles? I see many companies use their site name in the title (even here see | SEOMOZ Q&A - would four words at the end of a title do this? Or am i barking up the wrong tree entirely? Ive seen so much movement over the past few weeks its hard to correlate anything we do with the result, so even after advise I think i'll wait a week

What is the best way to scrape serps for targeted keyword research?
Wanting to use search operators such as "KEYWORD inurl:blog" to identify potential link targets, then download target url, domain and keyword into an excel file. Then use SEOTools to evaluate the urls from the list. I see the link aquisition assistant in the Moz lab, but the listed operators are limited. Appreciate any suggestions on doing this at scale, thanks!

Does many unique pages mean better SERP position?
My site has about 50 pages. All of them are unique 500-700 word articles. Almost every page is on its keyword at the 4-8 position in google/yahoo/bing. I can add a lot of relative unique pages on my site, about 100-200 word content per page. They all will be unique, with unique description and title. I can make about 1000+ pages. Would you suggest me to do this? Will this action boost my SERP position. Do more pages mean better SERP position?
