How do I maximize my Twitter account for SEO?
-
What should I be doing to maximize my Twitter account to contribute to the SEO of my website? I have 30,000 followers and want to get some SEO out of Twitter.
-
No problem!
Well I would imagine you are targeting some specific area/keywords with each blog post, so it would be a good idea to get them to link to the post itself. I have also found that this is more often the case. Obviously you will end up picking up links to both through these methods and you should see an increase in both page and domain authority. This will lead to improved rankings and more traffic.
Good luck

Thanks Matt. Great stuff.
I can do that. So last question for today,
Do you recommend that I have them link to a particular blog entry or just the homepage of the blog?
-
Hi Justin,
Your ultimate goal would be to get them to link to your site, so in your case the blog entry, but it would still be good to encourage some interaction on your blog.
If you have a blog you could look at identifying active followers in your niche and getting them to produce a guest post for you. This will bring your blog to the attention of their audience, as well as yours.
-
Do I want them to leave a comment on the blog or is it better to have them link our blog entry on their own websites and link to it?
-
You need to work out ways you can get this large audience to engage with you and your content. Tweeting links to decent content with something that will grab their attention and get them to visit your site for this content will help gain retweets. Through such exposure you are likely to get more interaction and links.
You might want to think about incentivising your followers to retweet and interact with your site.
As you are probably aware
great content + exposure = links
- links help increase ranking.
Social media is a great platform to build an audience and interact with them to form relationships, so that when you have great content you can put it in front of them and gain this exposure!
This Youmoz post today is a very good example of getting people to engage with your brand using such methods

Content Marketing and Twitter
Hello, I'd like to improve how I use twitter for pushing a piece of content. Here's what I am planning to do currently: First, we created a useful piece of content for a niche where we'll be appealing to the humanitarian side of thing. Nothing like this piece of content is on the web. The subject is not mouthwateringly attractive to other websites, but it is good, very useful, authoritative and uses the information we have in our niche. For Twitter, we plan to pick a website carefully that could use our content and 1. of course follow that site on twitter 2. Retweet 2 or 3 relevant good tweets the site has put out. If the person I want to contact has a twitter account, retweet some of his too. 3. Tweet a general tweet about a good article or blog post the site has with a link to the site and the article. 4. Tweet at a specific person in the site's company (or to the general twitter account if there isn't anyone specific) asking if they need help with content if it is well written and useful, then later tweeting introducing our article. Email will also be used. I'm really new to using twitter for content marketing, any help is appreciated. Facebook liking/sharing as well as blog comment posting along with adding to g plus circles will also be used. Thanks.

Best way to keep in touch with Twitter leads
On Twitter every now and then I have a conversation with a few people that lasts couple days. Then the conversation dies down and a different conversation with a few other followers begins. What do you guys do to keep in touch with the followers from the older conversations and perhaps start new ones? Do any of the online tools help with that?

Instagram - Any ideas how this can be used for SEO?
If indeed Google does use social signals for ranking factors, how would you go about using Instagram for SEO (if it's even possible)? Thanks

Merge Facebook profiles for SEO?
We are considering merging facebook profiles for our three stores. If we do this, users will not be able to "check in" at a location, but wouldn't it be better to have 4,000 fans on one profile than to have 2,500, 1,000, and 500 fans on the three profiles? The main site for these stores is also an ecommerce site.

SEO with facebook and twitter
Hi all, It's become more apparent to us all going forward after the panda update that social signals are becoming more and more important in regards to SERPS. Our website is www.capitalalist.com and is gaining a decent amount of traffic from Twitter. www.capitalalist.com/twitter and we have managed to work out what works for us on twitter and what doesnt allowing us to interact with our followers more and more. The problem is facebook. Direct marketing doesn't work here. Our page is www.facebook.com/capitalalist but we are struggling to get any traffic or interaction with our friends. Any advice on how to market properly for facebook for seo purposes? Thanks in advance.

SEO & Social | More SEO effect by liking the page URL rather than the Facebook Page?
SEOMoz Gurus, I am wondering what our best implementation strategy shoul dbe around linking up the Facebook Like button on our pages. Essentially there are two options: A) Linking the button directly to the Facebook Page of the web site so every Like is actually converting into a Facebook "Fan" which can be messaged going forward through our Facebook page. B) Having them like the actual URL which might be more beneficial from an SEO and viral perspective as now a link to the actual URL gets shared on the Liker's facebook wall and it should also be easier to use that lIke for Google & Co. as it's tied to the actual URL not a random Facebook page given that search engines already convert those signals. Both approaches obviously have their benefits. Are there any common guidelines on what is a better approach to take from a pure SEO perspective? Thanks /Thomas
