Title tag code
-
Hi,
I have a couple of websites where I can't define the title tag (CMS does not support it) on a few default pages.
On these pages "the system" just uses the primary/main title tag (from the frontpage) and my programming skills (as if I have any...!) have not been able to make a html code or something to override the main title tag on these specific pages.
Does this make sense at all and can anyone give me a hint, a code to try out or something?
Problem is that I now have 3 pages with the same title tag which in terms of SEO isn't too good, so to say...
Thanks in advance.
Jan

Well if you think you have the means to undertake such a migration project then why not, would be a fantastic bit of experience and potentially a good earner.. Just be careful because it could be a big risk if you dont have the resource to do it properly.

I guess....no short cuts...some easy title tag html thing?...I am for sure more .com than .net...:)) - no programming skills...stopped learning after programming a calculator in Basic on my C64....that was my masterpiece....(!)
-
Hmmm...you're right - problem is, that I am the client and I'm constantly telling myself to try and find another cms, but with 2 websites with more than 20,000 products etc....its really not just something that can be done easily....
-
There is usually a way to code around it if you know your SQL and php or .Net, Impossible is never usually in a coders vocabulary...
-
I would say this is an instance where you need to go to the client and tell them there CMS is outdated (and sucks) and they need to progress into the current era of web, [UPSELL ALERT]

It is a forum where Dandomain users can post ideas on what they should work on in the future...
Which is quite a lot...

I guess I need to brush up on my Danish
It came up as something completely different in the English translation.

Hi Brent,
Thanks - it actually says that it is not possible to set individual titles for the 3 pages mentioned...hmm...but great job finding that post.
I guess it is not that difficult for an expert to make some code to implement or is it ? It is possible to implement your own code on these pages directly in the CMS, so... any ideas ,)

Try out Brent's solution in your dashboard and let us know how it goes :).

Translation sucks a bit, but I think it's saying it can be set at the page level in the CMS dashboard.

Hi George,
Thanks for your reply.
It is a local (Danish) web shop solution called "Dandomain", so my guess is that you don't know it
About 50.000 online shops in Denmark use this shop, but not many from other countries.
If you have an idea on what to do i would really appreciate it.
Thanks
Jan

Categories VS Tag Duplicate Content
Hello Moz community, I have a question about categories and tags . Our customer www.elshow.pe just had a redesign of its website. We use the same categories listed before . The only change was that two sub categories were added ( these sub-categories were popular tags before ) .Then now I have 2 URL's covering the same content: The first is the URL of the subcategory : www.elshow.pe/realitys/combate/ The second is the URL that is generated by the tag "combate" that is www.elshow.pe/noticias/combate/ I have the same with the second sub category: "Esto es guerra" www.elshow.pe/realitys/esto-es-guerra/ www.elshow.pe/noticias/esto-es-guerra/ The problem is when I search the keyword "combate" in my country (Perú), the URL that positions is the tag URL in 1st page. But, when I search for "esto es guerra" the URL that positions is the **sub category **in the second page. I also check in OSE both links and sub categories goes better than tags. So what do you guys recommend for this? 301 redirect? canonicals? Any coment is welcome. Thanks a lot for your time. Italo,

Setting title tag with javascript/jquery
Hi there, I'm looking for some advice. I've recently implemented a few jQuery functions which gets specific content from the page and then sets the title and description. See working example here. It seems to work fine but my question I have is whether Google bots can read it and whether it might actually hinder my SEO efforts? Any advice would be really appreciated! Peter

Duplicate Title tags vs. View All for search results
I run a directory and some search queries give almost 1000 unique results. My moz campaign tells me that I have around 1,300 duplicate title tags etc. I read online about canonical, rel=next/prev, also about having a 'view all' page just for google (page links, not search queries), but if I do this, wouldn't the slowness mean google won't index it? So the question is what is the best thing to do?

Meta Title Keywords and Company name
Currently our meta title says "Network Security Audit | Pivot Point Security" which is pretty broad considering how many services we offer. In trying to restructure our keywords, marketing and SEO focus, I came up with a new title. The problem I have is figuring out which keywords to use in the title, and with a company name with 3 words - I am running out of room. The new title idea is "Information Security Assessments - Penetration Testing | Pivot Point Security" So my questions are the following. Do I need to put the company name? Should I choose different keywords? I'm sort of at a stand still trying to figure out the best possible title since meta keywords or description won't really help ranking.
