I agree with EGOL and Ryan, it looks like you have a lot to go on already. Good luck to you!
-
I'm sorry for the error Rhys. It's 2am here and apparently I need some sleep.
EGOL's advise seems quite sound. Your site's quality is very low. I know that is hard to hear as you likely put time and effort into it. You may also examine some competitor sites and feel yours is better in some areas. If that is the case, I would encourage you to focus on your site.
-
Rhys, here is a screenshot of what I am seeing: http://imgur.com/pwZjP
One possible reason you may see different results is Google may be bouncing your results around intentionally due to a penalty.
-
Perhaps you should look at adding canonical tags to your pages - then you wouldn't need to worry about any dynamic URLs causing duplication issues.
As for unique descriptions for puzzles - sure its tough - but I recommend sitting down and getting it done, or hiring a professional to do it. I see lots of good advice here. But sometimes it can be overwhelming and just too time consuming to do yourself.
-
I think that this site has a lot of problems and until you put some work into it and give that work time to stabilize in the SERPs it is not a good use of anyone's time to review it.
You have gotten a lot of great advice, most of which can be accomplished by writing and editing. For the technical issues, if you can't handle them yourself I recommend hiring a pro to fix them.
Good luck.

IMO, this site has a rankings reduction from not enough unique content, cookie cutter pages, and category dupes.
-
According to your post the URL to your site is http://www.yourjigsawpuzzles.co.uk/. Is that correct?
If so, then for starters I perform a search for your site where I see you ranking as #1 (which can happen even with a penalized site): http://www.google.co.uk/search?&q=www.yourjigsawpuzzles.co.uk&pws=0
Next, I search for "Jigsaw Puzzles" where I see you in position #4. http://www.google.co.uk/search?&q=jigsaw%20puzzles&pws=0
For penalized sites, Google may bounce your rankings around so sometimes you appear normally while other times you are not in the top 50.

Great advice in those threads by Ryan, Alan Bleiweiss, Geoff Jackson, and BradKRussell. I would listen to them.
The best advice is usually difficult to carry out. If easy work was all that is needed then everyone would rank #1.
Let us know when you have done some of the suggested work.

There is a bit of history with your site that you might wish to mention. I believe there are even more Q&As as I recall looking at your site more then once. Have you acted upon all the advice previously offered?
You currently rank #4 in Google.co.uk for Jigsaw Puzzles. What exactly is wrong?
-
Our biggest problem with content is that puzzles are very graphic oriented. A picture of a cat looking cute, is exactly that... a cat in a picture looking cute. There's not much more to say about.
I strongly disagree.
-
What am I doing wrong?
I would say that it is more about what you have not done.
Your product pages are duplicate content in my opinion. Your product descriptions are puny and almost copied word-by-word between several similar products. Start writing unique content. Lots of it. If you are the puzzle guys you should be able to sing long and loud about these products. Google does not respect cookie cutter sites without content.
Why should anyone want to buy puzzles from you? You have no content on the site to show them that you are the puzzle experts. If it is in your blog it is behind a dead link.
"Jigsaw Puzzles" is a difficult keyword. You have not earned it yet. You have only earned followed links from 16 different root domains.

Hi Rhys,
I remember looking at your site a few months ago and it seems like some of the advice I gave (and possibly others) wasn't implemented:
- Do you have social media accounts for your site? If not, create the 4 above and start posting! You'll get more of a sense of community and people will be able to share what puzzles they've completed, which ones they want to purchase next etc. I'm not personally in to puzzles but I know people that are, and they can't wait to get their next one as soon as they finish one.
- Highlight your competitive advantage more (on the item template, page titles etc). What makes you stand out? Free shipping? (BTW really really confusing having two free shipping points in dollars and pounds), best customer service, fast shipping, the latest puzzles etc.) Give people a reason to shop with you.
- You've got reviews but none of the products I viewed had any reviews. I'd suggest emailing customers 3-4 weeks after purchase asking for reviews if you don't already. This would also tie in nicely with a social media pages. Reviews are great for original content.
- Your blog has no entries and is dated from 2010? This doesn't look great...
- If you're struggling to get good/unique content on the site try adding more pictures/videos/staff testimonials/staff favourites etc.
I would also add:
- The link in the footer to the blog is now broken!
- You're very light on content - the homepage and categories especially
- I'd change the page title so "Jigsaw Puzzles" is at the front, not "UK"
Thanks
-
I don't know what you're doing wrong, but if you want to know how you match up against your competitors for "jigsaw puzzles" then start with Open Site Explorer and see how you rank in different areas against a couple of the top sites.
Example:
Hope this helps!

Mass Removal Request from Google Index
Hi, I am trying to cleanse a news website. When this website was first made, the people that set it up copied all kinds of articles they had as a newspaper, including tests, internal communication, and drafts. This site has lots of junk, but this kind of junk was on the initial backup, aka before 1st-June-2012. So, removing all mixed content prior to that date, we can have pure articles starting June 1st, 2012! Therefore My dynamic sitemap now contains only articles with release date between 1st-June-2012 and now Any article that has release date prior to 1st-June-2012 returns a custom 404 page with "noindex" metatag, instead of the actual content of the article. The question is how I can remove from the google index all this junk as fast as possible that is not on the site anymore, but still appears in google results? I know that for individual URLs I need to request removal from this link

https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/removals The problem is doing this in bulk, as there are tens of thousands of URLs I want to remove. Should I put the articles back to the sitemap so the search engines crawl the sitemap and see all the 404? I believe this is very wrong. As far as I know this will cause problems because search engines will try to access non existent content that is declared as existent by the sitemap, and return errors on the webmasters tools. Should I submit a DELETED ITEMS SITEMAP using the <expires>tag? I think this is for custom search engines only, and not for the generic google search engine.
https://developers.google.com/custom-search/docs/indexing#on-demand-indexing</expires> The site unfortunatelly doesn't use any kind of "folder" hierarchy in its URLs, but instead the ugly GET params, and a kind of folder based pattern is impossible since all articles (removed junk and actual articles) are of the form:
http://www.example.com/docid=123456 So, how can I bulk remove from the google index all the junk... relatively fast?0 -
Removing www from printed and digital
I wanted to make sure there will be no negative SEO implications if we change all ‘www.fdmgroup.com' references (printed and digital)? After some Googling, apparently some search engines regard www.fdmgroup.com and fdmgroup.com as two different websites and split SEO rankings (quote me if i’m wrong!).To date, a lot (if not all) of our online presence (e.g. adverts, banner links etc) use www.fdmgroup.com (both visually and in HTML markup) so these would also need updating to remove the 'www'.What are your thoughts? For the sake of SEO and canonical/duplicate content/ranking issues etc, would changing all www.fdmgroup.com references have a negative effect?

Anyone Have a Tool or Method to Track Successful Link Removals?
Hello All, I am undertaking the daunting task of a link removal campaign. I've got a pretty good plan for my work flow in terms of doing the backlink research, gathering contact information, and sending the email requests. Where I'm a bit stuck is in regards to tracking the links that actually get removed. Obviously if someone replies to my email telling me they removed it, then that makes it pretty clear. However, there may be cases where someone removes the link, but does not respond. I know Moz has a ton of link tools (which I'm still getting familiar with). Is there a report or something I can generate that would show me links that did exist previously but have now been removed? If Moz cannot do it, does anyone have a recommendation on another tool that can track links to inform me whether or not they have been removed. Thanks!

What to do with non-existing products (removed products)?
Hello, I'm selling unique products - only one of a kind of each product.
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | BeytzNet
This means that whenever a product is sold, it is removed from display. In order not to upset Google by keep removing indexed pages I created a "sold items" page which links to all of the removed products. The problem is (or maybe it's not a problem) is that I got to the point where I have more "sold items" then existing items (and the list keeps adding up). What should I do with the non-existing items?
Was I correct? ---------------------------------------- ADDED INFO --------- The way the site is built is that I have main category pages and each of them is showing a large amount of products. Most of these products got indexed by Google. Each product has its own unique URL (Products do not return...) Once a product is sold it does not come up in the product categories - I only have a general "sold items" in the footer that shows all of them (with a lot of pagination). Since the products are rapidly changing, i thought it would upset Google to have a hundred 301 redirects in each week or two. Since the products are very similar to one another (only different measurements / colors etc.), I thought of having a link from a sold Item to a similar available item so if Google will direct someone it will probably be to the available product. The problem is that the sold items are now 4 times more than the number of available items... I don't think that a store should display 2008's t-shirts on 2012... Another problem that may rise with so many products is that I'm afraid that the one type of product that is being sold much more often will take charge at the end on the entire site since I will end up with 8,000 sold items of this product, 1000 sold items of other products and 1000 available misc products... this might also start causing duplication problems as the products are quite similar. Should I stop with the "Sold" products and use 301's? Thanks0 -
Removed Internal Rel=NoFollows from power internal page - how long till reflected in Google?
I just started with a client, who has an internal page (not the homepage) that gets about 70% of all total links to the site and ranks #1 for a highly competitive keyword. For some reason, the first set of links, including the first anchor text link to the homepage are nofollowed. I removed the nofollows yesterday. Today, The internal page has already been reindexed in Google showing the followed anchor text link to the homepage Should I expect a jump in link juice pointing to my homepage immediately with a corresponding rankings boost? Homepage is #8 for target term. I hope this makes sense. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
