Multi Language websites!
-
Hello,
What is the best way for a website to have more languages?
For example
www.site.com is in english BUT the content will be translated in other 4 languages .es .it .fr .de . Should i buy 4 diferent domains www.site1.es www.site2.it etc... or create folders like site.com/es/ site.com/it etc OR create subdomains es.site.com
Few months ago i was 100% sure..to go and buy diferent domains then to create diferent content on that languages..but now..i am not so sure.
Thank you very much for your help!

If you offer car rental services only in Romania... the use of country level domain names is deceiving from a user point of view.
In fact, if I click on a .fr domain name, I am waiting to see something related to France (a service, product...).
If I was you I would change the domain name of your site to a .com (or .net) and create language or country versions in subfolders, which I will geotarget via Google Webmaster tools to their corresponding countries.

Hi Maxime and thank you for your reply. The site is www.auto-rent.ro . Because our clients are not only from Romania, we have made this site in english...even..it's .RO domain ... and a romanian version of the site (www.inchirieri-masini-bucuresti.ro).
Now. we want to create another 4 websites ussing 4 diferent domains .de .fr .es .it each one with unique content for our customers who don't speack english or romanian. Our company offers car rental services ONLY in Romania...so we only want to provide good content to our customers in their language.
This is what we are trying to do...
Thank you and sorry for my english...

Again, it depends of your ressources and your strategy...
Can you tell us more about your company and your international strategy?
Would each site be managed by you or by webmasters independantly in each country?
Are you going to use the same brand name in each country?
What ressources (time, staff and budget) to work on the SEO of each site do you have?
And I forgot to mention this article which is worth to read:
International and Multilingual sites: The Criteria to Establish an SEO Friendly Structure

I read everything you said guys... Thank you for your advices..but is still very hard to decide. Read this and looks very interesting:
" Having this top-level ccTLD, country code TLD, essentially gives you that extra boost in the search engines when you are targeting those international countries. That is why, generally speaking, if you are a big brand, big site, and you've got a big budget, I would recommend getting these specific ccTLDs, building up those country presences around those language groups. "
subdomains and subfolders..cand be an idea...but not so valuable like the diferent TLD domains

One website is easier to maintain. all locations you mentions are different languages so they will all be unique by default so there are no duplicate content issues. Make the English version the main site root and the other regions subfolders.

Website ranking declined after connecting to CDN
Hi! We are trying to rank https://windowmart.ca for various local search terms. Our head office is in Edmonton where we try to rank https://windowmart.ca/edmonton-windows-doors/ for such terms as "windows Edmonton", "replacement windows Edmonton", "windows and doors Edmonton" as well as others. The website was the leader in its niche for around 2 years. Then we've got some server related issues, moved to a new server and connected CDN Nitropack that really improved our google speed test results. Recently we noticed that our rankings started to drop. Do you know if Nitropack can negatively effect local SEO rankings? Thank you!

Moz/Google does not recognize text on Wix website
My client's website was built on Wix and despite having substantial content on web pages, Moz is claiming that there is very little-to-no content: Sufficient Characters/Words in Content. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I've run a word count tool and it gives the same results. Website: pesclinical.com

Rel=canonical on Godaddy Website builder
Hey crew! First off this is a last resort asking this question here. Godaddy has not been able to help so I need my Moz Fam on this one. So common problem My crawl report is showing I have duplicate home pages www.answer2cancer.org and www.answer2cancer.org/home.html I understand this is a common issue with apache webservers which is why the wonderful rel=canonical tag was created! I don't want to go through the hassle of a 301 redirect of course for such a simple issue. Now here's the issue. Godaddy website builder does not make any sense to me. In wordpress I could just go add the tag to the head in the back end. But no such thing exist in godaddy. You have to do this weird drag and drop html block and drag it somewhere on the site and plug in the code. I think putting before the code instead of just putting it in there. So I did that but when I publish and inspect in chrome I cannot see the tag in the head! This is confusing I know. the guy at godaddy didn't stand a chance lol. Anyway much love for any replies!

Help Website Plumetting :(
Hi I have been smacked by the penguin/panda and traffic plumetted back in April/May. We are still trying to recover and am looking at all of the potential issues. I have since cleaned up the site as much as i can and attempted to remove as much duplicate content as possible which is automatically generated by Zencart. We add content regularly and have new product reviews everyday and all product page are kept fresh as they show the last 12 customers engraving details which change daily on popular items. Could someone give me some pointers as i am hitting my head against the wall and only seeing traffic drop all the time, it's soul destroying just how much work i am putting into this every day without any effect. Site is www.keepitpersonal.co.uk Kind Regards Andy

Resurrecting a heavily duplicated Joomla website.
The site in question is stanwix.info. I set this up years ago as a community project before I had even heard of seo. It carries quite a bit of content but has appallingly "SEO Unfriendly" URLs some content is recorded as duplicate 3 or more times because of these dynamic URLs according to the crawl statistics returned by SEO Moz. Currently it ranks well for the keyword stanwix - not too surprising as the only significant local competition is a large commercial holiday complex located several miles away out on the coast. As a sort of showcase, I have been trying to come up with a strategy to re-optimise stanwix.info so that it can outdo the commercial site stanwix.com I am pretty sure that step 1 involcves upgrading from the current archaic version of Joomla to the latest release even though that will break some of the modules currently installed. My pal who actually coded the site did a fair bit of hacking of the modules to get them to work properly. OR do I simply bin it and start a fresh site consigning years worth of community content to the darkness and replace with fresh material - I'm not keen on this option as I have put a lot of heart and soul into this project. I am in a quandary here as the problems are so numerous that whatever I do will break the site for some time. The reason I want to keep the site is because the business directory provides a useful locally relevant source of links for other clients and I am also going to set up a separate website for the community centre on a subdomain - this time running in wordpress which I do have a fair bit of experience with. Your advice for my addled brain would be much appreciated.

Struggling to get my lyrics website fully indexed
Hey guys, been a longtime SEOmoz user, only just getting heavily into SEO now and this is my first query, apologies if it's simple to answer but I have been doing my research! My website is http://www.lyricstatus.com - basically it's a lyrics website. Rightly or wrongly, I'm using Google Custom Search Engine on my website for search, as well as jQuery auto-suggest - please ignore the latter for now. My problem is that when I launched the site I had a complex AJAX Browse page, so Google couldn't see static links to all my pages, thus it only indexed certain pages that did have static links. This led to my searches on my site using the Google CSE being useless as very few pages were indexed. I've since dropped the complex AJAX links and replaced it with easy static links. However, this was a few weeks ago now and still Google won't fully index my site. Try doing a search for "Justin Timberlake" (don't use the auto-suggest, just click the "Search" button) and it's clear that the site still hasn't been fully indexed! I'm really not too sure what else to do, other than wait and hope, which doesn't seem like a very proactive thing to do! My only other suspicion is that Google sees my site as more duplicate content, but surely it must be ok with indexing multiple lyrics sites since there are plenty of different ones ranking in Google. Any help or advice greatly appreciated guys!
