Will links still show in WMT after you disavow them?
-
Does anyone know a definitive answer to this? I'm thinking they will still show up in WMT links to your site? Anyone seen anything different?
Thanks,
Chris -
Also, if I am not mistaken Google said that if you disavow a link it would most likely take a few weeks to months for it to start happening. Since the new functionality is only a few days old, I doubt anybody would see results yet.

As I thought. Thanks all.

I'm almost 100% certain that this is the case. Otherwise Google may have called it a link 'removal' tool rather than 'disavow' tool. Also as Matt Cutts said in the video, the disavow option is only a suggestion to Google, much like the rel=canonical tag. Google still reserves the right whether or not to ignore your suggestions.
Adam.

As far as I understand - yes - they will still show up in GWMT and in Open Site Explorer. It is just that Google will not consider them as part of your link profile for rankings, authority, penalties etc.
So those sites are still linking to you - they just aren't considered.

Recovering from spam links on MY site
Hey guys, Having a weird situation and wondering if anybody can help. I run a sizable WordPress site with a number of content writers. One of the writer's accounts was hacked and was used to post several dozens of complete spam posts with spun content and links to all sorts of shady sites. Recently the site has begun losing rankings on all sorts of pages. There's no manual penalty or anything, but I'm concerned that we're being penalized for having had these links on the site. Of course, as soon as we found the content, we immediately removed it, reset passwords, etc. But a decent number of the pages were indexed. Does anybody have any experience with this or ideas of what to do about it? Is there somewhere we can talk to Google about it or some way to show that we are not part of bad neighborhoods? Thanks so much for any thoughts, Yon

Linking from purchased businesses to my own
Hi All, An SEO and Google guidelines question. We've recently purchased several local businesses that have websites. Legally, we've put a disclaimer saying we've purchased those businesses, the question is whether we should link from those sites to our main site. Will this bring a manual action from Google? It's legitimate that we'd like the visitors from those websites come to our main site because those business no longer named the way they were. So, is it OK to link from these sites to ours? Will this violate Google's guidelines regarding backlinking? Should we even link and if so add the rel:nofollow tag? Thanks!

Should I bother disavowing nofollow backlinks?
Hello! I am about to go through the list of backlinks in our profile and sort out what we want to disavow. A question I had is, should I both disavowing nofollow backlinks, even if they look spammy? Or should I just focus on cleaning up the dofollow's? Thanks!

If you have links on the left hand side of the website on the Navigation and content at the bottom of the page and link to the same page with different anchor text or the same would it help the page (as it is surrounded by similar text) or is the first one counted and this is it?

Is it fine to use an iframe for video content? Will it still be indexed on your URL?
If we host a video on a third party site and use an iframe to display it on our site, when the video is indexed in SERPs will it show on our site or on the third party site?
