Website URL Structures - Which does Google prefer or does it matter?

Which URL structure does google prefer..............OR DOES IT REALLY MATTER?
Option A
www.example.com/services/service#1 - this is the default that wordpress uses
Option B
www.example.com/service#1

Thanks CMC! Others I have discussed with said it doesn't matter and that their is no "preferred" structure.
One person said:
Google uses urls only at the spidering stage and then reintroduces them when composing the SERPs but the "machine" does not use them at all - your pages are known by an internal number, not the url. As long as the urls are easily spiderable the urls do not matter

SEOmoz officially favors www.domain.com/category/subcategory/product.html -- see http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/url. However, depending on the depth of your categories, that can get ridiculous really fast.
In a recent webinar, I believe Everett Sizemore said he prefers www.domain.com/subcategory.html -- see http://www.seomoz.org/webinars/ecommerce-seo-fix-and-avoid-common-issues.

Thanks Irving.
I am currently using this version www.example.com/service#1
I'm having a site migrated to wordpress and noticed that their default was for every service listed under the main navigation title (services) to have /services/service#1, etc.
I'm having to change the wordpress default so my urls don't change. Just wanted to make sure that the version I am using now is safe

it doesn't really matter. just don't go multiple levels deep and don't repeat keywords in the url.

Why is my homepage not indexed by Google or Bing
http://www.schoppnutritionclinic.com/ Home page is not indexed by Google or Bing but all other pages are indexed. I know that currently i am missing the robot.TXT file and the sitemap. This is something i am woking on as a possible solution. I would have thought Google/Bing would have still indexed this page regardless of the lack of sitemap/robot.txt files not being present. I attempted to run a fetch and render in Webmaster tools and received a Not Found status.

Website Traffic Drop After Switch
Hey guys, two weeks ago we switched over to the new website, however we've experienced about a 20% drop in Google Organic traffic and it does not appear we are getting indexed correctly by Google. On search results it's not using the meta description and the links still point to the old pages. Robots is fine We are using the same IP address Re-directs are in for the pages in question. Sitemap was submitted to Google in Webmaster tools What else do we need to do?

URL Structure
Hello, Within the last few months, my company launched a brand new website for our clients. Unfortunately, the web developers we went through aren't very knowledgeable on SEO practices and as a result, our URL structure is a total mess. I'm looking for some advice on the best way to go about a possible restructure of the URL's or what you suggest I should do from here. Any advice helps. Thanks! Lauren McLaughlin

Were our URLs setup correctly?
The person who build our site setup a lot of the pages like: domain/location/city/title tag For example: http://www.kempruge.com/location/tampa/tampa-personal-injury-legal-attorneys/ I know the length is too long and it seems entirely unnecessary to me. Many of the pages I have created since I got here are just domain/title tag (which is almost always city-field of law-attorneys-lawyers). However, when I compare the original pages with the new ones, they both rank similarly. Given what a pain it is to change urls, I'm not sure if it would be worth it to shorten them all or not. However, I would like to know if the way there were setup originally makes sense for some reason I don't understand. Thanks, Ruben

Website Drops Some Traffic after Redesign. What's Happening?
What it is NOT: No Link was broken. I have used Moz, Screaming Frog, Excel, etc - there are not broken links. We have not added spammy links. We kept the same amount of links and content on the homepage - with an exception of 1 or 2. All the pages remained canonical. Our blog uses rel=prev rel=next, and each page is canonicalized to itself. We do not index duplicated content. Our tags are content="noindex, follow" We are using the Genesis Framework (we were not before.) Load time is quicker - we now have a dedicated server. Webmaster tools has not reported any crawl report problems. What we did that should have improved our rankings and traffic: Implemented schema.org Responsive design Our bounce rate is down - Average visit length is up. Any ideas?

Site-wide footer links or single "website credits" page?
I see that you have already answered this question before back in 2007 (http://www.seomoz.org/qa/view/2163), but wanted to ask your current opinion on the same question: Should I add a site-wide footer link to my client websites pointing to my website, or should I create a "website credits" page on my clients site, add this to the footer and then link from within this page out to my website?
