Multiple Social Media Accounts
-
If I use multiple social media accounts to share-reshare on facebook, to increase the number of people that see my posts, do I need to somehow mask my IP from facebook/google?
I only have one personal facebook account right now. I have been reading and am speculating that most SEO's use several facebook accounts. I know you have to build a facebook account that looks/feels real, but do you have to mask your IP address somehow to stop facebook/google from realizing you are one in the same...

Excellent response.
I am committed to writing great content in my niche. I know when people read it, I will indeed get a lot of real shares/likes. My primary concern is making sure people read it through a social push. I've read about the Facebook "edge algo." I need comments and shares to make sure the blog I am sharing gets on people's news feed.
I can't get real shares/likes if I don't have traffic to the blog. I respect your response. Can you give me some advice on getting traffic outside of social media shares? I am not able to generate through organic rank yet. My site is on real estate sales/technology (seo/webdesign). Yes it is different. Please advise
I value the way you don't dismiss the idea but instead explain that another activity would be more productive. Please continue to assist me!

OK Joseph, I think I need to break it down a bit from a point of view.
First, I am not sure what you mean by SEOMOZ says that seo signals are roughly 8% of SERPS and growing. If you are speaking of on page social signals, that is an opinion of a reasonable group of SEO pros.
But, you have to define that and you have to understand there is more than I got 100 likes. If you read a really good post IMO on moz by Philip Petrescu - The Impact of Authoritative Links, Mentions, and Shares on Rankings you will see that there is a lot more than it being a share from thirty FB pages. I think, that you have to read what he says first is the importance of fresh content. (We have 8 copywriters who are good on staff and produce some serious content so I know he is correct). Then, while social media mentions are important, the next piece is WHO is mentioning it? If you get a share from Guy Kawasaki or someone of similar ilk, you will likely get a lot more 'weight' from that than from your sites.
But, even that is not the issue. The issue is: What is your strategy? What amount of your time is spent manipulating a bunch of FB, Twitter, G+ sites? 8%, is IMO a massive waste of time. I would get further with content creation and that content would get legit shares, tweets, etc.
In building a site or improving it, I suggest that you decide how you are going to improve it ahead of time. What time will be devoted to what? When we take on a client or create a company owned property, we do not start until we know where we want to go and how we want to get there. In doing that we are forced to look at cost benefit within various parts of SEO, etc.
So, yes, you can put up a ton and IMO I do not think that Google per se is tracking Cblocks, servers, etc. right this second in terms of social ranking manipulation. (The reason I think this is that in order to grow that social account, there is work involved and to build 30 and handle them is not good time use.).
I think you would be better served creating high quality content for the vertical that begs people to use it/like it/share it.
But, again, its just an opinion.
Best,
Robert

When someone shares a facebook comment that contains a backlink to a page with a blog, then there is SEO benefit in the share, right? There is also the benefit of more exposure, right?
I mean if I operate 30 facebook account then I can share my content 30 times, isn't that a significant seo benefit? SEOMOZ says that seo signals are roughly 8% of SERPS and growing.
The things that google picks up on are shares/likes, right? Having 30 identities is 30 shares/likes when I post.
Please assist Robert

Joseph,
I think that its a reasonable question and will give my opinion(s):
First, I don't see the need to have multiple FB/G+ accounts for us or for our clients. I think then you are back to what is the value of it, isn't it just gaming the system, etc. I think if you have great content and do not over commercialize you will get a good result.
Then, as to the masked IP address, etc. I just don't see that as necessary even if you are doing the other. At some point, I think we end up trying to fix really low % issues and that it takes us away from endeavors that would better improve our rankings.
IMO
Thanks

Social Media Causing Duplicate Content
Recently, I spent some time in the SEO MOZ Crawl Diagnostics, and found that I have 40 pages that are being listed as “duplicate content.” These are original blog posts, but I made the mistake of sharing on social media immediately after publishing each post. I recently found out that if you post on a blog and on social on the same day, Google indexes the social first, and then up to 2 weeks later indexes the actual blog post. When it does, it stamps the blog post as duplicate and the social media posting as the original. Any ideas on how I can rectify this? Any code I can put in each blog post to let Google know they’re the original? I’ve begun publicizing my blogs on social 14 days after I actually publish them to alleviate the issue going forward, but I’d like my 40 other blog posts to get the authority they deserve.

We have a profile on Facebook, with around 5.000 likes, and as far as im concerned the important thing on Facebook is to get people to share your links? Google+ At the moment we dont have a Google+ account, but my suggestion would be that we create one . maybe not to generate alot of content, but in order to get more info on the branded search results - and i have a presumption that Google will put more and more emphasis on Google+ in the updates that lies ahead. Twitter We have a profile, but are there anything we could do in order to optimize the SEO-effect via Twitter - what i have heard is that because their links are no-follow it dosent have any effect on SEO. Instagram
Is there anything to gain on SEO if you create a profile on Instagram? Please let me hear your views on this. Thanks in advance.0 -
Social Media Gurus... What would you do, your industry has no presence?
You are tasked with creating a Facebook page for an industry which has a distinct lack of social media presence. During your research for your industry or client you find none of their competitors are using social media to any large degree. Reviewing the whys, you find that the demographics of people using Social Media outlets like, Facebook, Twitter, Pin Interest, and LinkedIn do not really fit with the industry. Do you view this as a great opportunity for your company / client and push forward with creating a Social Media presence? Or, do you inform your company / client based on your research, social media isn't a viable use of time or money? Examples: Plastic Manufacturing

Industrial Laundry
Tractor Trailer Wholesale
Copper Mining Equipment I am interested in how the guru's handle clients / companies that don't necessarily fit the mold of social media, but ask and are willing to pay you to make it happen for them. I am hoping this to be a good discussion as I don't see any right or wrongs in these situations. What would you do?0 -

I'm trying to put together a brief template for our copywriters to use when requesting the creation of a piece of content. These are the points I have thought of so far are: Subject / Topic Content Objective Desired User Outcome / Call to action Sources, References Tone of voice Related product information Target SEO keywords Can you think of anything else to add? Do you know good resources (articles, blog post) tackling the subject of a content creation brief? Thanks in advance.

URL's for videos to increase page value and social sharing value
Hello Everyone, We recently developed videos for all of our products. Upon clicking on each video, we have the video popping up in a lightbox. The videos are hosted on Amazon s3. We would like to implement social sharing for each video and to do so, we are going to have the video load on each page upon being clicked using jquery. My question is how we should structure the urls so that the actual product page gets the share value. So for example, if the page is www.website.com/product1.aspx should we have the video be www.website.com/product1.aspx#video and ensure there is a canonical url on each product page so that the benefit is given to www.website.com/product1.aspx Or is there another way that anyone would recommend doing this? The videos are AMAZING and I'd like to ensure that as these videos are shared on social networks, that the value of the share is directed to the actual product page. Any ideas mozzers? Thanks!

Incentivisation Strategies for Social Sharing of Product Pages
Hey, What are some great tips for gaining social shares on ecommerce product or category pages? I understand great images and video will go along way, but it's difficult on a large scale ecommerce store. Receiving an offer for sharing something is great - I honestly cant think of a way to track this strategy in a large scale manner. I can send an email after a purchase making an offer to go back to the page to share, but how would I track this? Thanks.

Working with 3rd PArty Social Media partners / paid blogs
Hi there! We are an ecommerce company based in the UK and are an online butcher. We are looking to further our contribution and authority in a social sphere, in particular develop relations with bloggers and social sites who are realised to have authority in our sphere (food / meat). At present we are active in the usual (Twitter, Facebook etc) and have over 1000 likes and followers. We also have a cool blog which can be found at <cite>www.donaldrussell.com/weblog/index.html</cite> We are looking at our content and would like to share this with other bloggers in return for backlinks and visits from these blogs, and in turn improve our pagerank and SEO ratings. I have been offered the chance to work with EBuzzing, who claim to get your content published and referred to but you have to pay these "bloggers" for the privelage. Is this a good way of furthering our social strategy in the short term, or is this the wrong way to go and do search engines devalue these links? My preference is to organically grow our presence through becoming a valuable contributor and have alsways strongly advocated this, however Ebuzzing or other simillar services sound too good to be true! Are they? Hope you can help me, and look forward to your thoughts. Many thanks Gary
