Same Hosting IP - Will it hurt same type of business ranking?
-
Hi,
I am curious if example:
There is 2 plumbing company and both using the same Singapore hosting
and same IP,Will Google give less ranking to these 2 plumbing sites because Google might think that they are the same company and they are duplicate website even when their content is totally different.
Does Google rank different hosting IP address better for the same business?
-
Yes, because sharing the IP address with known adult or spam sites will raise a warning flag in the eyes of search engines, which may in-turn, lead to banning the complete IP address from its index.
-
The reason some people dont want to have shared IP is because they are afraid of linking to bad neighbors hosting porn or casino?
That is the reason why they want a static ip?
-
Some SEO experts believe that acquiring a static IP address will not help in any way in enhancing the performance and ranking of your site, while some others are under the impression that choosing a dedicated IP address will help in improving the ranking, though to a very small extent; they think the search engines consider the IP address as a factor for deciding the ranking.
-
Hi again
Using the same IP address for two different plumbing websites would not cause a problem in terms of Google listing. The search engines don't check IP addresses and decide to downvote anyone's search results on the basis of being on the same server or being in the same industry.
As per your other question, as long as the content is unique - you should not experience any problems at all. You've mentioned that the content is totally different, so it sounds to me like you've got this nailed already.
Regards,
Matt Davies

I wouldn't have thought this would be a consideration to be honest. Of course, if the two websites were cross linking then Google would probably assume that they're related but otherwise there would be no reason to presume that just because two websites share the same server that they would be related.

Traffic, rankings and own manual note in one interface, please :)
Hey guys, I really hope that such a tool exists out there. Here's the problem. My boss asked me to create a graph that shows the traffic, rankings and notes on our site updates in one place. Here's what I did I just made a screenshot of my Google analytics and rankings from RankTracker. Then I added it all in one Photoshop file and tried to combine them so that I can see if traffic drops coincided with keyword drops. Also, I added some manual notes about the updates on my site (like text updates on the homepage, etc). So, is there a tool that allows to combine Google traffic data with ranking data. Plus it should allow to add my own comments ? Here's the result of my crazy drawings so that you understand why I'm not happy about doing that in Photoshop 🙂 https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_oX-XIT7OSCRC1jWUcxR3AwdkE/edit?usp=drive_web

If I have a Google+ Business page, do I need a Google Places page as well?
It seems like the two are redundant? Any official word on this? I'm fairly OCD about things being tidy and I dont want to split my reviews / shares / etc between two profiles. Are they not the same thing? I searched for my company, both my plus business page and my places page came up. I attached a SS of the situation. placesvplus.png

What's a good host for wordpress?
I've been using A2Hosting.com for a few years and am looking for something more reliable and better tech support. I've looked at WP Engine, but would like something less expensive or someone to convince me that it's worth the cost I have 10 domains using Wordpress (clients sites) that need hosting. What are your recommendations, and what would be the ideal set up?

How should I outsource my small business SEO needs?
Fellow MOZers, I run a small ecommerce business called mrpearl11.com, and I need assistance in outsourcing my SEO. A little about us: We sell a variety of import merchandise, but specialize in closeouts (buying merchandise at very low prices) which can translate into some real exceptional value to our customers. The buying part of the business is strong, but our online presence is weak. We have a decent high-level understanding of SEO, but I do not have the in-house skill sets necessary to truly leverage the SEO tactics and strategies that I believe we need to integrate into our processes. Thus we have a very weak SEO presence. Basically starting from scratch. Right now, we are focusing on content. Item-level content. Subcategory and category level content. General website content (about us, contact us, the checkout process, etc...) with the goal to provide a great user experience. We believe we have the right prices on the right merchandise, and that if we can set a strong foundation of content so that the user experience is positive, our future marketing efforts will have a better ROI. However, keyword analysis and targeting, data-mining, A/B testing, link acquisition, etc etc etc, really don't exist as a part of our processes on a professional level. I could try to train my in-house crew, but I think that from time a time and cost perspective, we'd be better served by outsourcing. My question to the MOZ community is how should I address my small business SEO needs? There are probably a lot of ways to go from here, but I want to start with a person or an agency, build a relationship, and move forward taking one step at a time. I don't want to jump into some kind of commitment where we're spending big bucks out of the gate, but on the other hand if we can build a track record of proven results that have a good ROI, I'm not afraid to scale up. Please share your thoughts, and feel welcome to ask questions 🙂 Thanks! Adam
