How to update a crawl
-
Hi
I crawled my site, it found lots of errors and warning which i have fixed, I told seomoz to recrawl, and it says nothing has changed... It defiantly has though!
How do I make it see these changes?
-
Hi! You can do a crawl test on up to 3000 pages at http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/crawl-test that should help you out!
-
I believe if you delete the campaign and then reinstate it you'll get the initial 200 page crawl immediately but it will still take a week or so for the full results to come back.
This was one of the first questions I asked when we first signed up with SEOmoz as we had a monster 5,000 errors on our site and cleaning them all up while waiting a week between updates took a while.
Perhaps if you e-mail SEOmoz they may initiate a re-crawl manually however I think the response may be that you need to wait until the next crawl date - Sorry.

Hi
Is there no way to initiate a new crawl?
If i delete the campaign and re-add will this do it?
Its another 5 days until the next cruel and my designer will be away from tomorrow.
Regards
Chris

Alas SEOmoz will only crawl once a week. If you go in to your campaign manager you should be able to see the last crawl date and the next scheduled crawl date.
For example, in my account I see
'
Last Crawl Completed: Nov. 30th, 2012 Next Crawl Starts: Dec. 6th, 2012''
I hope this helps!

Should we rename and update a page or create a new page entirely?
Hi Moz Peoples! We have a small site with a simple site navigation, with only a few links on the nav bar. We have been doing some work to create a new page, which will eventually replace one of the links on the nav bar. The question we are having is, is it better to rename the existing page and replace its content and then wait for the great indexer to do its thing, or perm delete the page and replace it with the new page and content? Or is this a case where it really makes no difference as long as the redirects are set up correctly?

Google's mobile-friendly update. How significant is the impact for us?
Hi guys. Recently I got an email from Webmaster-tools saying our site is poorly optimised for mobile devices, and that it’s going to heavily affect rankings from April 21st. I’m worried to say the least. We literary cannot afford a hit on traffic at the moment 😞 We rank well for niche terms like ‘customised diary’ and ‘personalised diary’. So question... Because we rank well for these very specific searches will we still take a hit on rankings after the update? Won’t our high relevancy for those search terms be enough to keep us high in the results? Also, do you know if this change is specific to the users device? E.g) Someone on a mobile device will get mobile-friendly results, whilst users on a laptop will get different results altogether? I'm just trying to get a sense of how much this update will effect us. Any isights, suggestion, or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Our site. Thanks in advance. This community is invaluable to us 🙂 Isaac - TOAD Diaries.

Google Crawl Errors from vbseo change
We have vbseo setup on our site and for some reason a setting was changed unexpectedly and was un-noticed where it changed the URL of all the pages and so none of our pages were getting indexed by google any longer due to 401 errors. Most of our SE traffic fell off. We discovered the issue a couple weeks ago and we changed the setting back so that the URLs are the same as they were originally before but in Google webmasters it's still showing crawl errors and our search engine traffic hasn't recovered at all. We have sitemaps being sent daily.

How does a keyword get crawled and pointed at a certain page
I was wondering if you can give me some insight on how a keyword that I put on my campaign gets linked to a specific URL on my website by SEOMoz or Google. For example: updating a brick fireplace is my keyword. On the campaign when I am looking at my on page optimization, the URL assigned (or given) to it is my homepage. How is this determined and is there a way around it and or directing it to the correct page? Thanks

Original content and the Google Panda Update
We are an online furniture store with about 1300 products on the site, and we mostly use the catalogue descriptions for the product. Recently I have been reading about One Way Furniture: http://ecommerceprnews.com/e-commerce_articles/2011/03/one-way-furniture-shifts-toward-quality-content-after-google-panda-update-201928.htm They are a big american online furniture which seemed to have lost about a 3rd of there traffic due to being punished in the panda update. Now it seems they are blaming the fact they use they use catalogue descriptions for the product (like us), and now they are going to rewrite all their product descriptions. We are a small company and rewriting 1300 products (meaningfully) is no small task. Looking at our own traffic we have taken a small slump since feb after about 18 months of general increased month on month traffic ( bar seasonal dips and boost), but we didn't have a "fall of the cliff" like One Way Furniture. But have been expanding into other areas (and there for new keywords), so we had expected to be increasing our traffic. So the question is, how important is unique content for all our products? is it worth all the time and money to fix all the pages? Our plan is to make sure our category pages (and there for landing pages) have unique content, would that be enough on its own, or are the product pages damaging the site over all?

Does Frequency of content updates affect likelyhood outbound links will be indexed?
I have several pages on our website with low pr, that also themselves link to lots and lots of pages that are service/product specific. Since there are so many outbound links, I know that the small amount of PR will be spread thin as it is. My question is, if I were to supply fresh content to the top level pages, and change it often, would that influence whether or not google indexes the underlying pages? Also if I supply fresh content to the underlying pages, once google crawls them, would that guarantee that google considers them 'important' enough to be indexed" I guess my real question is, can freshness of content and frequency of update convince google that the underlying pages are 'worthy of being indexed', and can producing fresh content on those pages 'keep google's interest', so to speak, despite having little if any pagerank.
