Backlink from my YouTube Channel, helpful for SEO?

A website will include a link to a youtube video associated with my channel. Does my website also get SEO credit, even though that website isn't linking directly to my site, but rather to a video on my youtube channel. The youtube video is also uploaded to my website, but this website wants to link to the video directly on youtube.
Website is "www.hawaiijobengine.com" and youtube channel is "hawaiijobegnine.com" - how does Google know these 2 are same owner?

My guess is no -- otherwise, we'd all have the latest viral cat video with 25,000,000 million views also embedded on our own website.

what i was saying the only way to get SEO value to your youtube video. is there the Title, url and keyword tags for searches. Mostly the Title.
As brad said the more your video is shared the better SEO value it creates ( FOR THE VIDEO ON YOUTUBE not on your site ! that is what i was trying to convey with the message i wrote. Your site will not gain SEO value because the links as Brad said are No-follows . But you gain seo value by your embedding your Url so people visit your site. Also you gain social signals as more people comment and share.

thank you. A site is linking to my video on youtube, which is a video uploading from my youtube channel. I also have the video embedded on my website. Is my website getting any SEO value from a site linking to the video on youtube? Does Google see a connection between the youtube video and my website? Can I increase the chance Google sees such connection?

If I am understanding this question correctly, you want to know if you get any SEO value from other sites linking to or embedding your videos?
The more people that link/embed is a good thing for you. If you have optimised your videos you can link back to your own site (even though the links are nofollowed). The more links/views/embeds the better.

We also embed this video on our site, and are more than happy for others to embed on their site as well.

You are saying: if the website does not directly link to my website (rather to a video on youtube) then my website will get zero credit for the linking, correct?

I am not sure i understand the question correctly.
SEO Credit for what exactly?
The only SEO you can do with you tube is in Meta Data, Categories and Name of the video.
Can you further explain what you mean ?
Because as far as i know if the site is not providing you direct link to your website ie: anchor text or sub link in the body of the page that is displaying the video, then you wont really get any link credit per say except people watching your video on the youtube page and linking to your site.

Lightboxes and SEO
Do lightboxes (AKA popup boxes when you click "learn more" type CTAs) have any negative effect on SEO? We are looking at revamping our sites to have more of a tiled approach, and a lightbox with summary content popping out with additional CTAs, directing to pages with more information or free trial pages. Is there any downside to this approach from an organic perspective? is there anything specific to keep in mind when creating these if not?

Is CloudFlare bad for SEO?
I have been hit by DDoS attacks lately...not on a huge scale, but probably done by some "script kiddies" or competitors of mine. Still, I need to take some action in order to protect my server and my site against all of this spam traffic that is being sent to it. In the process of researching the tools available for defending a website from a DDoS attack, I came across the service offered by CloudFlare.com. According to the CloudFlare website, they protect your site against a DDoS attack by showing users/visitors they find suspicious an interstitial that asks them if they are a real user or a bot...this interstitial contains a Captcha that suspicious users are asked to enter in order to visit the site. I'm just wondering what kind of an effect such an interstitial could have on my Google rankings...I can imagine that such a thing could add to increased click-backs to the SERPs and, if Google detects this, to lower rankings. Has anyone had experience with the DDoS protection services offered by CloudFlare, who can say a word or two regarding any effects this may have on SEO? Thanks

I'm doing some housekeeping on my website. Removing old blogs that are out of date (2008) or things have moved on. The blogs I'm removing are being 301'd to relevant newer blogs. Right SEO strategy for Wordpress
Hello all, I am working on my SEO strategy for a WordPress site. I am trying to cover all my keywords in: 1.a) Page title trying to have a length <70 1.b) Page url trying to have a length<115 My question is: should i try to focus all my keywords in both name and url page path? or only in the Page title as the SEOMOZ's guide suggest? I would go for a mix strategy with my keywords in both page title and url path name, but I do not know if the search engines PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THE PAGE TITLE, so mixing 1.a) and 1.b) would mean I am loosing keywords. I am using the WordPress All in ONE SEO Plugin. Do you recommend me this or any other plugin? This plugin has 3 input fields: a) Title tag b) Description tag c) Keywords My questions here are: a) If these tags replace the standard settings of WP as described in point 1.a) b) If the description and title tags are META TAGS that are not taken into account in terms of SEO but in terms of customer description of the contento of the page. c) Where are the keywords listed inserted in the page? I can't help but think something is wrong with my SEO
So we re-launched our site about a month ago, and ever since we've seen a dramatic drop in search results (probably due to some errors that were made) when changing servers and permalink structure. But, I can't help but think something else is at play here. When we write something, I can check 24 hours later, and if I copy the Title verbatim, but we don't always show up in SERPs. In fact, I looked at a post today, and the meta description showing is not the same, but when I check the source code, it's right. Is DOCTYPE important for SEO?
Hello fellow Mozzers. I am just having a brief look at a potential clients website before speaking to them tomorrow and whilst looking at the source I noticed that they don't appear to have a clear definition for their Doctype. All the have at the top of each page is I have to admit that Doctypes aren't my strong point but I know that they are normally slightly more descriptive than this. Can this have any effect on rankings? or is this just an issue for W3C validation? Thanks 🙂
