Anybody here look at Alexa Rank and or PageRank when doing research?
-
Any Seo'ers out there still looking at PageRank and or Alexa Rank?
Any suggestions on how to look at these stats?
I personally believe both are not relevant in todays SEO researches.
I'm i very wrong?

Very good point,
I hadn't thought about this yet. It could explain a lot. I've seen sites around with PR0 but a good link profile and was wondering why this is.
That might be the anwser.
Butt..... just spoke with a colleague about this and he mentioned his site got major penalties before (didnt even rank for its own brand name any more), whilst the pagerank went up from 2 to 3.
Man im confusing myself now again. Darned PageRank, so many sites with good PA and DA but Pr 0. So i or should i not get that link hahaha.

As Mat Bennett already mentioned, the information provided by Alexa is way to impartial in order to provide any relevant information.
As for PageRank, in correlation with other metrics it's useful to find out if a website was penalized due to suspicious link schemes or link selling. For example, if a 2-3 year old website is linked through tons of good quality links, yet it has no PageRank, then there's most likely something rotten with it.

I agree. Rand did a great column on this subject earlier this year. My takeaway? If it's not accurate, then why bother http://www.seomoz.org/blog/testing-accuracy-visitor-data-alexa-compete-google-trends-quantcast

Ehhh depends on what you are looking at them for
As competition analysis of others in your niche it can give you some insight into them and the landscape of your path ahead (as well as used in conjunction with other general cyber forensics tactics)
If using for link evaluation, if it is a PR 0 then it MIGHT be a bad sign (but also might mean nothing), but I truthfully am not sure how correct of a statement that is these days.
If using Alexa as a basis for an analysis of a possible exposure/traffic link, then it is in conjunction with other traffic tools a way to estimate the traffic/exposure your link might see.
But as an overall part of a big picture strategy I think they are useless, but still have their small role to play in conjunction with hundreds of other data points and tools.

I'm not sure that Alexa really ever had any relevance. It was always based on too small a sample and was too easily gamed for me.
Toolbar PR I suppose can still fill in a small part of an overall decision. However I can't think of many questions that you could answer looking at those two metrics alone.

(Need helps here!) Can homepage and other internal pages (services) rank high together on Google?
Hi Moz community, Recently I am working on our website's SEO. Our company is a marketing agency. We provide general marketing services and also web design. Here is the content of our homepage and internal pages (specific services). Homepage (marketing agency) Internal page #1 (XXX marketing service) Internal page #2 (YYY marketing service) Internal page #3 (web design) I suggest to my supervisor that we could make some improvement and optimize different keywords for these 4 pages, respectively (homepage, internal page #1 #2 #3). However, my supervisor holds a different point of view that homepage and internal page#3 cannot rank both high for their own keywords because web design is not as related to marketing. So I did some research and look for some top-ranking marketing agency guys who also offer web design. I found their internal pages about web design service rank pretty bad for their own web-design-related keywords. Here are my thoughts and guess (please correct me if I am wrong): Google takes everything into account and deems web design to be kind of irrelevant content to the website, so the internal page for web design will not rank high. The internal page has so much lower power than the homepage so it got outranked by the guys whose homepages are all about web design and development. My question is: In above case, can homepage and other internal pages (our services) all rank high together for their own keywords? I know what I wrote is kind of confusing...But I really need help here and want to solve this problem badly. Really appreciate any help!! Thank you in advance! Best, Raymond

Why are they ranking?
Hi I've been looking at domains which rank well for a particular search term - plastic storage boxes to try and see why they rank. http://www.poundstretcher.co.uk/home-furniture/storage-organisation/plastic-storage ranks particularly well. From what I can see, they have about 6 backlinks, 28 DA, and 11 PA - which isn't that high compared to others ranking on the first page. I can't work out why they rank so highly, they also rank for over 100 other storage terms for this page. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Competitors ranking in top three with worse SEO
Ok I am at a loss. Our client is trying to rank for keywords like "dental assistant programs utah", but they are still on the bottom of page 1/top of page 2. The guys in the top 3 have terrible SEO. No links, newer domains, etc. I looked into it extensively and learned about the "honeymoon period" people talk about but we are long past that. I've looked through webmaster tools to see if there are any issues, and I can't find a thing. Anyone have an idea of what we could be doing wrong that is making us be put down so far on the page? Before I got here the SEO guys were doing older tactics which I think was starting to hurt them with penguin and what not so I tried my best to delete the crap content and clean everything up on the website. thanks for all your help! I really appreciate it.

How To Rank For Easy Keywords (24-26 keyword competitivness)
Hello Moz members, Quick Question for today !!
Competitive Research | | SebastianP
Please, who is involved in backlinking processes/White hat SEO these kind of things pm me, I really appreciate some great responses to this specific thread. I have a blog 3 months old with quality articles on it (600 to 1000 words each article+fotos+videos+infographics), and the keyword targeted that is on the homepage have that 26 kW competitiveness keyword. What I really need to focus on if I want to be number 1 for that term? somehow on social media more?
My competition seems to have little to no backlinks, but they have a domain or PA bigger than 30. How can I increase my domain and page authority faster?I still have 30 backlinks and PA/DA and also PR = 0. I want to know specifically which tasks I need to Master if I want to be number 1 in Google for a keyword that have JUST 26 Keyword competitiveness in MOZ.
I mean, this is a very easy keyword to rank for but I didn't rank yet. Maybe from my description you can give me some gold nuggets here Thank you so much ! Regards,

Good moz rank and trust, terrible page and domain authority
I have this happening both for page and domain. For domain the rank and trust are 5.2 and 5.51 but domain authority is only 48. My competitors with trust and rank between 5.5 and 6 have their domain authority in the 70-80 range. The same happens for home page metrics and the metrics are about the same. What can cause this authority discrepancy?

Ranking and Domain/Page Authority
I'm not seeing a very good correlation between ranking and domain/page authority. Am I missing something here? ie., 2nd raning at 1/0. Also seeing competitor as "12" domain authority in "competitive domain analysis", but shows much higher here for same competitor? <colgroup><col width="94"> <col width="171"> <col width="108"></colgroup>

Fast Multiple Keyword research
Does anyone know of a good tool to drop a list of keywords into and get competitive and search volume results from? Don't want to have to enter them one by one to the Google KWT.
