Can you link several sites together in Google Webmaster Tools?
-
I have a client saying that there is a way to link 3 separate websites (A website for each department of a company) in Google Webmaster tools to tell Google it's basically one site but really its 3. Or to tell Google it's the same company and all the sites are one.
I have never heard of this & I don't see the point in making 3 separate small sites & "linking" them as one in Webmaster tools.
Is there in fact a way? Am I out to lunch on what they might be referring to?
I am recommending they create one larger authority site with a page on each department & earn links for each department page & provide informative unique content for each page.
Thoughts?
Thanks for the help!

Thanks so much for reassurance. It's always great to ensure I'm on the right track with my recommendations.
Cheers!

Totally support your recommendation of a single authority site with sub-sections for each department,. Samantha. That way not only will the maintenance process be far simpler, (and cheaper) but each subsection of the site can contribute it's authority to the other sections, and each section will also benefit from the overall authority of the primary domain. (note - only if subsections are directories. not subdomains).
As far as "linking" sites in Webmaster tools to create a single site in Google's eyes? Nope. no such thing.
You can have multiple sites linked to a single Webmaster Tools account to simplify management processes (for instance, my GWT account has over 30 client sites linked to it) but there's nothing in that process that can tell Google to consider multiple domains as a single site.
So yea, you're right on both counts

Google Webmaster Tools, about multiple entries for your website
Hi I have a doubt about Google Webmaster Tools or Central as it is call today. I remember that google recommended to have one profile of your website for each domain structure. Let me try to be more clear one profile for http://www.yoursite.com, an other for http://yoursite.com, an other for https://www.yoursite.com, etc. Then in each of them we uploaded our sitemaps and cross our fingers. Now from my experience always the complete url have better index status from the sitemap. Now my question is, today as Google requested all our websites run under https, so conserving the other profiles is affecting how google index our pages? shall we have to delete the old profiles or is better to maintain them? Thanks. Pablo

Direct traffic spam on Google Analytics: how can you identify and filter it?
One of my smaller clients noticed a huge jump in direct traffic visits last month. The bounce rate was around 97% so I'm pretty certain that most of the traffic was illegitimate. I know how to filter out spam referrals and organic keywords in Google Analytics. However I'm not sure what to do about direct traffic spam. Are there recommendations for filtering this out? Can I identify spam IP addresses?

How Am I Linked to These Sites?
I was going through Google Analytics, specifically looking at the Channels under Acquisition. I found a number of sites that Google is giving credit as sources of traffic.
Reporting & Analytics | | TowerMarketing
When I went to the sites, however, and searched the page source for links to my site, I could not find any. My site is www.towermarketing.net. The sites being listed by GA are:
blackhawkhardware.com
musicas.baixar-musicas-gratis.com If anyone can tell me how Tower is getting traffic from these sites, and what I can do to fix it - because at this point I am considering them spam - I would appreciate it. Thanks!0 -

Google Product Feed help
Hello, We are working with a particular service that uses our Google product feed to pull information. We wanted to add product info such as dimensions and hex colors for each product to better service the third party we are using, but we not sure if this is something Google supports in their feed. Would it cause any problems if we added that info in? Thanks for any help! Also, my knowledge regarding a Google product feed is lacking so if the question is confusing or I didn't give enough info on our situation just let me know and I'll do what I can to better explain.

High percentage of nofollow links
Hi, I've just created my first campaign and noticed that on the competitive analysis our website is having a lot of nofollow links: more than 50% I did some research on the web to learn more about nofollow links, but I don't understand why this percentage is so big especially compared to the other websites in the analysis (less than 10%)? Anyone any ideas? Thanks!
