Merging your google places page with google plus page.
-
I have a map listing showing for the keyword junk cars for cash nj.
I recently created a new g+ page and requested a merge between the places and the + page. now when you do a search you see the following.
Junk Cars For Cash NJ LLC
junkcarforcashnj.com/
Google+ page - Google+ pagethe first hyperlink takes me to the about page of the G+ and the second link takes me to the posts section within g+.
Is this normal? should i delete the places account where the listing was originally created?
Or do i leave it as is?
Thanks

Thanks Miriam. Good to know it's common in the local field. Thought this might have caused problems , maybe my listing dropping in position but it hasn't. I'll keep my eye out for any further developments

Hi Samuel,
Great question! This has recently been noted in the Local SEO community. The double links are likely a result of your merge request. DO NOT delete your places account as it is still the main dashboard for all things Local. No one is 100% sure why the double links are appearing now...some have suggested it's an engineering issue of some kind, but it definitely seems to be happening to fully merged accounts and is not something you should worry about.
I recommend you read this great little thread on the subject at The Local Search Forum:
You'll see a number of examples like yours...and even one with 3 links instead of two!
Hope this helps. My advice: don't touch anything. What you're seeing is quite normal, but could change at any time.

Is it ok to repeat a (focus) keyword used on a previous page, on a new page?
I am cataloguing the pages on our website in terms of which focus keyword has been used with the page. I've noticed that some pages repeated the same keyword / term. I've heard that it's not really good practice, as it's like telling google conflicting information, as the pages with the same keywords will be competing against each other. Is this correct information? If so, is the alternative to use various long-winded keywords instead? If not, meaning it's ok to repeat the keyword on different pages, is there a maximum recommended number of times that we want to repeat the word? Still new-ish to SEO, so any help is much appreciated! V.

We are switching our CMS local pages from a subdomain approach to a subfolder approach. What's the best way to handle this? Should we redirect every local subdomain page to its new subfolder page?
We are looking to create a new subfolder approach within our website versus our current subdomain approach. How should we go about handling this politely as to not lose everything we've worked on up to this point using the subdomain approach? Do we need to redirect every subdomain URL to the new subfolder page? Our current local pages subdomain set up: stores.websitename.com How we plan on adding our new local subfolder set-up: websitename.com/stores/state/city/storelocation Any and all help is appreciated.

Google crawled my rich snippet pages and then excluded them
Hi guysWe have added schema.org mark up a few months ago and it all looked well and showed up then suddenly last month all the crawled pages disappeared from Webmaster tools Structured data (see the screenshot attached). This happened to another site of mine and I cannot figure out what causes it. Nothing has been changed on the pages and you can see by yourself in the HTML code. Any ideas to why this might happened this way?wenR89I.png?1

Does putting a Google custom search box on make Google think my users are bouncing?
I added a Google custom search box to my pages, that's doing an advanced Google search. A lot of people are using it. So users are coming to my site from a Google search, and then often performing another Google search on my site. Should I be worried that Google may interpret the resultant user behavior as a bounce or pogo-stick? Or will the fact that the second search occurred on my site, using custom search, and with advanced parameters signal to Google that this is not a dissatisfied user returning to Google? Thanks

How often is a Places search run - ie via the Google menu option
Hi guys Does anyone have a gut feel for how often the Places search option is used via the left hand side menu of Google? I have a non-slip solutions (flooring/decking etc) client. Google does not provide a 'local search' type results page even when the location is added to the search term. So I am thinking I should prioritise energies on the website and not local search activities (like citations). But I am wondering how many searches are conducted using the Places option. Any views? Many thanks Wendy
