Need help, i am lost
-
Hello all,
I am new in this community.
I have been for a while on Page 1 on Google with the keyword "Wooden Signs" with my website CreateYourWoodSign.com
Since the Google update (April 24th i think)I completely disappeared from Google. I have not been able to come back since.
Any help would you highly appreciated.
Thank you!

Hi Emmanuel,
Sorry to hear about your lost rankings and traffic.
First question: Have you received any notice in Google Webmaster Tools? Are you registered with Google Webmaster?
April 24th was the date of Penguin, which primarily targeted over-optimized anchor text. Sitewide, exact-match anchors were particularly targeted.
If we take a look at your backlink profile in Open Site Explorer, we can find a number of these types of links. For example, the link on this website:
http://sterlingrealtybelair.com/
The link "Custom Wooden Signs" appears on every page in the sidebar. Unfortunately, these are exactly the types of over-optimized links targeted by Penguin.
Then there are links like this, which seem soley to exist to link back to your main site: signswooden.com/
If I had to guess, I would say this is where the problem lies. If this is the case, my advice would be to check Google Webmaster Tools for warnings. If you see no warnings, you can file a pre-emptive reconsideration request to verify a penalty. Then, you're probably going to be faced with a long period of link evaluation, clean-up, disavowing, and reconsideration requests.
I know it's not the best news in the world, but almost any site can recover if you put in the work.

1. Your product landing pages do not have enough content. We would rather suggest you to add some content in the pages.
2. You are copy and pasting the same product in numerous websites, creating duplicate version of the same product detail, which is certainly going to affect the visibility of your website -

Hi Emmanuel
It sounds you where hit by Google Panda and the possible other updates. I got hit as well but with some careful analysis and a bit of work I got myself back to pretty much where I was before the updates.
If you check out the whiteboard fridays around this time it will assist you as they've assisted me.
I have had a quick look at your website and the first quick observation is that it seems on your landing page you have no text. I am pretty sure if you removed the images and placed the text then you should see an improvement.
Regards
Jame

Need help on declining page rank
Hi Guys,
On-Page Optimization | | Slideuplift123
We had a consistent page ranking for a specific keyword between 5 and 8 positions on google. This week all of a sudden the page which was ranking for that keyword no longer ranks for it and another page has started ranking for that keyword that too at 20th position. I am so confused why has this happened? I didn't do any changes to that page or to the now ranking page. Can anyone help why could this be happening?0 -
How do I hide comment reply's from google? Do I need to?
Reason for asking is Moz reports them as URL too long. Should these even be indexed by google if not, how do I hide them? Example URL : https://www.tansleyphotography.co.uk/farnham-castle-wedding-claire-chris/?reply-to=1876 This really doesn't need indexing, as it's just a comment on a blog post. Does it matter?

Will German meta data help an English USA-based site get found in Germany?
I think I already know the answer to this, but I'd love a second opinion. If you add German meta data to some web pages will it help those pages turn up in search results in Germany?I'm assuming not. It's an English, USA based site, doing well here for English searches - and I don't want to mess that up. A German site is being planned, but this client is hoping the English site could be found in the meantime. ~Caro

Do we need to worry about internal duplicate content?
Hi, I have a question about internal duplicate content. We have a catalogue of around 4000 products. Most of these do have individual descriptions but for most of the products they contain a generic summary that includes a sentence to begin with that includes each product name. We're currently working on descriptions for each product, but as you can imagine it's quite a chore. I was wondering if there are actually any penalties for this or whether we can ignore the crawl errors from the moz report? Thanks in Advance!

I need a fresh eye on this project, as I ran out of ideas
I know generally it's not a good idea posting project urls, however this time I'll break the rule as I could really use some genuine ideas: I just can't explain my rankings. So I created a small site, branded term, english language, I will use my British ranking data, you can use justproxy.co.uk to verify if you'd like. Site is 2 years old. My main keyword is Breast Actives, however my I describe the strangest phenomenon after the bullets. Site: http://buybreastactives.info So the point is: I did a little keyword stuffing back in the days, but removed it, took a safe middle density (analyzed the first rankers keyword usage). I've been looking at competitors backlink profiles comparing them to mine. The growth rates are similar. I have a little lower Domain and Page authority than the first few sites, but not that lower. Backlink quantity is somewhat similar to first 20, yet still I am ranking somewhere way beyond 200. I am not expecting a first place with a "somewhat similar" profile, but my bet is I should be at least in top 50. The only technique that worked was regular posting, I brought up the site into top 70, but as the site is really focused on a particular product, and the site's brewity suffered the price of posting semi-related articles, so I stopped. Rank out beyond 200. Another intresting aspect I cannot get my head around is that for "breast actives reviews" I have a dedicated page buybreastactives.info/real-customer-reviews, with some keyword usage, and another page buybreastactives.info/worldwide is ranking for it (around 80-90), but it does not use this keyword at all. So if you have some time to give it a glance I would be greatful for some thoughts. EDIT: Before penguin around 2012 dec site was in top 10 for nearly all terms targetted, with the stuffed keywords.

Does my site just need a tweak, or should it be rebuilt from the ground up?
My wedding photography website has grown organically over the last 4 years or so.
On-Page Optimization | | chuckstar_za
Each year it's been fiddled with, changed, tweaked, prodded - in short it's been mucked about with a lot.
To the point now where I think it's become a hodge potch of mucky code (theme installed on theme in stalled on theme and numerous plugins) and no real 'structure' to it. At the moment it hovers around #12 for my main area of focus - people looking for a wedding photographer in Essex, England. So 'wedding photographer Essex'. I try to write blog posts regarding venues in Essex where I've photographed weddings. Despite trying to follow best practice, and with weak/low competition, these posts very rarely crack top 10. Last year when I was top 2 for wedding photographer Essex I was victim of a spam link attack. At the time I asked for advice and was told not to worry as Google didn't count these links. Now I'm feeling that along with the bloated website, lack of proper site architecture and other little issues, these links are contributing to restricting my pages from ranking in top 10 spots. Backlinking, while always helpful, doesn't seem to play a major role when trying to rank for venue related searches according to backlink reports on competitors. I'm thinking that it might be an idea to rebuild the site and content from the ground up. This time with a proper site structure in place and conforming to best practice. Obviously this is probably the most extreme course of action. Or does my site just need a little TLC to get it ranking better?
The site in question is:

Does adding ™ help or hurt?
I have a client who rents kids' party products that are branded (Batman, Curious George, etc.) Does it help or hurt to put the superscript "TM" in the Meta Title, or other meta or actual content of their product listings? I have some guesses, but am curious for other opinions / data! Thanks very much!
