Internal Linking Question(s)
-
Is it unwise to link internally to a page more than once on the homepage. I am reading that it is considered spammy. I am also reading that it passes PR twice to the internal page instead of just once...
Which is it?
Is there a way to stop passing PR to the "contact us" page. I watched an older video that Matt Cutts suggested a nofollow. Now I read that this strategy is a no no?
Which is it?
Thanks!

It's generally best practice to link in a way that's best for the user. As Nigel noted, it's common to have more than one link to the same page - especially if one is a navigation link. There's nothing wrong with this, but keep in mind that Google puts more weight on the first link to a page than second or third links.
Instead of stopping link-juice to your Contact page, how about making sure that link juice flows back to your most important pages? You could easily link to top resources on your site that your audience may be looking for, and this could benefit both your users and how Google views your site. (nofollow link sculpting was a practice popular a few years back, but it's not really used anymore by most SEOs)
Since you're leaning on-page SEO, here's a video Rand did you might like:

Hope this helps! Best of luck with your website.

Hi I would not worry if you have 2 links to the same page, especially if one is in your global nav. You can add a no follow however I would not worry about it. Many websites have the contact us in the global nav - Google knows about navigation items so instead pays more attention to links in the body of the pages. Google will only follow one instance of a link so it won't double up on the link juice being sent to the next page.. Finally dont have too many links on your home page - the page only has a certain amount of link juice so you end up diluting the juice too much if you have loads of links. All the best Nigel

City and state link stuffing in footer
A competitor has links to every state in the U.S., every county in our state and nearby states, and every city in those nearby states. All with corresponding link text and titles that lead to pages with thin, duplicate content. They consistently rank high in the SERPS and have for years. What gives--I mean, isn't this something that should get you penalized?

Schema Question
I had ratings stars appearing on my site and recently started using the sale event schema, but the two won't show up at the same time, so the rating stars have now disappeared and have been replaced by sale event data. When looking around for more info I found the attached example which shows both appearing at the same time - however upon trying to replicate this myself with that same site I can't get both to appear. Does anyone know if it's possible for both schema data properties to appear in the results at the same time? save.png

On-Page Analysis Question
Hi, I have a question about the On-Page Analysis report. I am tracking two different keywords for our campaign: "Private Dining" and "Private Dining Sacramento". We are ranked 8th for Private Dining Sacramento but we have an On-Page analysis rating of F. While on the other hand we are not ranked in the top 50 for Private Dining but have an A on-page report. When looking at the on-page report it makes sense that we have an F for Private Dining Sacramento as we don't use that keyword anywhere on the page. We only use Private Dining. However, we are still ranked for Private Dining Sacramento and not for Private Dining. Should we update our keywords/text to use the Private Dining Sacramento keyword instead of the Private Dining? If we add Sacramento will we also get credit for Private Dining because it will still be part of all H,P and A tags we use? Sampe Report | Keyword | Grade | Google US |

Are My footer links bad?
I started working here recently, they said the footer links were to help with navigation of their most popular products. I am curious after reading http://www.seomoz.org/blog/internal-linking-strategies-for-2012-and-beyond if having these footer links could hurt the ranking of those key words after the penguin update. I am looking more into the analytics, and have not seen a negative impact yet.
