Help with HitTail
-
Does anyone else use HitTail?
I am using it for a free trial at the moment. The idea was to get some keyword suggestions and write blog posts on these topics.
My problem is that I am ranking on the top page sometimes spot 2 or 3 for the keyword terms that are being suggested, so what's the point? I don't see the point in writing for google searches in other countries so I delete them as it isn't an international business?
Am I getting the most out of this or just missing the point?

Hi Rob,
Thanks for your reply. I did think it was odd for terms to be suggested that I was ranking so high for. I will send an email if I come across it again.
Cheers!

You can get keyword data from Analytics, but not the suggestions. That's the core benefit of HitTail.
-
Don't forget: has an algorithm that cuts through the noise, filters through your keywords, and suggests only those that you have a high likelihood of ranking for.
So instead of having a keyword list of 500, you might receive 20 or 30 suggestions from HitTail, and those suggestions are your low-hanging fruit. The keywords where you'll get the most bang for your buck right away.

Hi Shaun,
I'm Rob, the owner of HitTail. Let me address your questions:

You should not be receiving suggestions for keywords that you already rank that high for. Are you using an incognito window to check your rankings? If not, Google's personalization is likely to boost your website much higher than other people see it. Try again with an incognito window and if this is still happening please email us at service@hittail.com and we will take an in-depth look at your keywords.
Because you are correct - if we suggested terms that you already ranked that high for there wouldn't be much of a point to it

Has anyone else got any experience using HitTail?
I like the tool but I'm struggling to justify paying for it.
-
Long tail ones arn't really helpful for me as well. like you said.
the thing is we can get all this data from google analytics and webmasters if checked thoroughly.. so yeah this tool isn't really helpful
-
Yeah I feel the same.
The long tail keywords was where I wasn't getting anything significant. Unless you mean literally 'long' and wait for some that are maybe 5/6 words long.
-
Well yes its not as good as i thought at first.
what it is good for is :
- Long tail keywords ideas!
- shows realtime search keywords
- sends a report of total keywords in email with which users reached the site
That's all what i gathered so far :}

SEO Questions & Help
I have a woo commerce shop in the firearms industry which makes advertising even more difficult because no FB, IG, or Google campaigns. I do have other sources of advertising but I'm a complete noob when it comes to SEO and the like. I know it exists and its important and that's the extent of it. I was thinking of hiring someone on Upwork to take care of this on my website but what kinds of questions/things I should look out for to keep from getting scammed? Any tips would be appreciated

I want to swop a site to an existing domain. i.e. it was http://A.com and now want it to be B.com...please help
The company I have started working for as two main websites. The main website (A) is out of date and not very functional but has the companies prime domain name. The other site (B) has their ecommerce engine. I'd like to make B the prime site i.e. take over A's domain name. Huge warning bells are going off regarding the SEO of this decision. Any advice or suggestions in how to go about this without destroying the company's SEO would be greatly valued.

Canonicle Help
Hey everyone, Hoping someone can shed some light on canonicle links for me. Have read as many articles and tutorials as possible but am still unsure about how to use them in my situation. I'm about to sign a content syndication agreement with a large newspaper for 3-4 of my articles per week. It's great because this national newspaper has a PR of 8, to my recently reduced PR of 3. The newspaper are providing attribution links back to my website, both to the homepage and original article on every article. Nice, but worried their size will make their copies of the article list above mine. Can anyone tell me, IF the newspaper agreed to making canonicle part of attribution, where exactly would it go? On my article? On their article? In their document ? Or in the link that directs back to me? Thanks.

Will a comment section on my site help with seo
I have never been a fan of comment pages such as the sun http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/4783642/bruce-willis-appears-on-the-one-show-in-awkward-interview.html but i was told the other day that not only is it good for the reader but it is also good for seo and increase the number of times that google would visit the page and i would like to know if that is true. if you have added a comment section to your articles i would like to know if you have noticed any change.

Need help deciding how to display directory listings in way Google will like best
My blog site currently has maybe 100 posts and I do about 7-8 new a week. I am creating a directory for an this site, which will end up eventually being a few hundred or more entries eventually. In the directory browse/search listing, each directory listing will have a title and a short description (one or two lines) and will show about 10-20 per page. And then the user can click an entry to see more details for the particular directory listing. This is where I have a choice, and I want to know what is the best for my site, in Google's eyes of course. Options: 1. The listing detail is displayed on a separate page. 2. The listing detail is displayed below the entry that was clicked, on the same page, by use of jquery to slide down the other content blow it to make room for it. (It actually looks slick, I've tried it). If I were writing full, unique pages for each listing detail, I'd choose option #1. But the vendors are submitting the content. It's possible they might just copy and paste their site's About page into it, or they might not even add any more detail other than their address. I can't control it. So, if going with option #1, let's say a third of the vendors add nice unique content, a third paste in some dup content, and a third just leave it blank (there would still be an address, couple line short description, and a title on the page). Would this situation be good, not good or neutral for my site? I'm not sure if adding additional pages, maybe half to two-thirds of which could be somewhat duped or of minimal word length would be bad or neutral for my site overall. As for my existing and ongoing blog pages--they are all unique, long and Google seems to love them.

Can you help me with my options on publishing others' news releases on my site?
I wish to add a "News" section to a highly-read, highly ranked blog I have. The News pieces will not be in the same flow as my regular posts. I'm contemplating what the best way to do this is, and would like some advice, please. I see these options: Option 1. Pay textbroker type people to rewrite news releases and post them into the news flow. Pro: indexable content. Con: expense. Option 2: Have a Submit News form on the site for vendors to submit their news stories. I would have to ask them to rewrite their stories to avoid dup content. Pros: Easy for me, no cost. Cons: Will still get dup content I bet, a lot of companies won't take the time to do it, and I will have no control over quality. (I really doubt this option will work). Option 3: Post news releases from companies in their raw format, and mark them as no index (even if I don't noindex, they won't move up the SERPs anyway, so why not just noindex them). Pros: very easy, all the news I want. Cons: not creating any indexable content. Bonus question: If I do Option #3, and I place an adsense ad on the page, will it work the same as if it was an indexed, non-duplicate content page? Your thoughts?

Does a Google Map on the contact page help with SEO?
In regards to ranking organically for local search results (not google places), I'm wondering if there is any benefit to having a Google Map on my Contact page with our location pinned? If so, how important do you think it is?
