Moving wordpress from one domain to another and phpmyadmin
-
Hi all, I have moved a site made in wordpress from a domain (domain1.com) to a different one (domain2.com).
I have created a new db and I have been forced to give to it a different name, because in my cpanel mysqldatabases you can create db using only a prefixed db name structure (such as namehosting_(empty field)).
So from database nama namehosting1_wp, I have forced to create namehosting1_wp, changing parameters in wp_config.php I have also forced to change db user for the same reason.
I have gone to phpmyadmin to import the sql database previously exported from domain2.com. It gives to me this message: #1044 - Access denied for user 'nameuser'@'localhost' to database 'information_schema'.
It seems that I have not right privileges. Or should I follow some other procedures?
Thanks and ciao Bob

Hi, you have given right solutions and good stuff to read. But there are some issues in my hostings that I'm not able to solve also with this support. This is a particular case. Don't mind and thanks for your support Bob

Sorry if I have given the impression that moving a WordPress site is hard. It's fairly straight forward if you follow the instructions given.

Thanks CodingStuff for your good reply and material you have given to me. I have understood that this moving is not so simple. Ciao. Bob

No follow and do follow on wordpress
I am in the process of building a new wordpress site to replace my old static HTML site and I am now doing SEO on it. With my old site the default was do follow and I could easily change the HTML to no follow but on my wordpress site the default is no follow and I cannot seem to find a way to change parts to do follow. Tried a plugin but it does not deal with the home page at all and when I select do follow my SEO tools still highlight the links as no follow. A bit stumped on this one. Anyone have any experience with this? thanks

Multiple Domains for One Site
We are building a site for a new miniature golf course. They have a long name, which they don't want me to mention, but it's equivalent to a name like Golden State Golf and Putt. They also have a restaurant with its own name and brand that will be a part of the mini golf course and its website, much how Hotel websites have their restaurants on their sites. Before becoming our client they purchased golfandputt.com and want to go with this domain for simplicity sake. In addition to this domain name they purchased 7 others that contain the bussiness' full name in some way, such as: goldenstategolfandputt.com goldenstategolfandputt.net, goldenstategolf-guitar.com etc., As well as: 3 variations of the golfandputt.com domain 3 variations of the restaurants name They wish to have all of these redirect to the main website or the restaurant page to "help with SEO," as they told me. From what I have researched on SEOmoz it seems better to simply optimize the website for Golden State Golf and Putt and the restaurant page for the restaurant's name. Additionally, I'm worried that redirecting the domains to the site will actually hurt them in rankings. If someone can shed some light on what the best practices for this sort of situation are I'd be much appreciative. Apologies in advance for the lengthy explanation but its a bit of a unique situation.

All the other tags/categories which take you to the same page or have same title are also throwing errors, how do i fix it?

Moving a site from one server to another
Does moving a site's files from one server to another, with all URL's remaining the same, affect page rank? I am moving a site from one server to another. Everything will stay exactly the same, including URL's, file structure, etc. Will this affect page rank, domain importance, etc?

Moving Duplicate Sites
Apologies in advance for the complexity. My client, company A, has purchased company B in the same industry, with A and B having separate domains. Current hosting arrangement combines registrar and hosting functions in 1 account so as to allow both domains to point to a common folder, with the result that identical content is displayed for both A & B. The current site is kind of an amalgam of A and B. Company A has decided to rebrand and completely absorb company B. The problem is that link value overwhelmingly favours B over A. The current (only) hosting package is Windows, and I am creating a new site and moving them to Linux with another hosting company. I can use 301's for A , but not for B as it is a separate domain and currently shares a hosting package with A. How can I best preserve the link juice that domain B has? The only conclusion I can come up with is to set up separate Linux hosting for B which will allow for the use of 301's. Does anyone have a better idea?

What is with WordPress Dupe issues?
Hi, Just wondering if anyone can explain for me why it seems every tag that is entered in WP blog posts on a site creates a duplicate page (identified by ROGER and friends in SEOmoz crawl)? Obviously if you can offer a solution (apart from the extremely obvious "don't use tags") I would be immensely grateful. Thanks so much,

Registering a domain for multiple years
Does registering or renewing a domain name for more than a year improve search as a result of a more trusted site and company that will seem to be around for longer than just a year?
