Open Site Explorer - Image Anchor Text
-
Hey there.
I'm researching internal links and In my report I get alot of image links with the following text in the Link Anchor Text column: (img alt)(img)[No Anchor Text].
Is it because my images don't have alt-text or something else...
How to optimize correctly?
See attached screenshot.
Best regards

Hi Soren
You're spot on there, really. For images, your alt-text is, in effect, your anchor text. If one isn't set, OSE will report it like this.
No doubt you'll know what image those pages are using to link to you, so only you know whether or not it would be realistic to ask them to add in an alt-text. I'd say, where you can, use a descriptive alt text that may or may not include the keyword you're trying to rank for. There is a school of thought that if you have lots and lots of images linking to your site with the same alt-text, particular if it's an exact match keyword, Google might see it as spammy. This is particularly relevant for those who use infographics for inbound marketing, although iAcquire did bring out this guide about how you can randomise the alt-text of your images to negate this effect.
In summary, treat alt-text like your anchor text. Use keywords in them sparingly and correctly, be descriptive where you can. But if you don't get an alt-text it's not the end of the world by any means. It's still a link - in some ways it would act like a raw URL text link.
Hope this helps!

Unsolved Is the Keyword Explorer tool down?
Hi, I was supposed to work with researching keywords today. After researching a few queries in the Keyword Explorer, it stopped retrieving keywords and shows the message, “Getting keyword suggestions failed. Please retry your search or refresh this page”. The issue has persisted for a few hours. Thanks in advance.

How does SEOMoz crawl sites? Does it follow the sitemap?
I only ask because in my report it returned a few "no follow" links. Was wondering how SEOMoz operates.

Is anybody else having problems with Open Site Explorer downloads
I've been trying to get a CSV for linking domains for two days now and still have nothing. It got to the "Finalizing" status within a few hours and stayed that way for about 24 hours, and now it's back to the beginning of a "pending" status.

Would someone be willing to site audit us and give us some tips/advice?
Hi, Would someone or a whoever is willing to, help me get me head around what the OSE is telling me? I had a few quotes from firms who used this and they basically tried to sell me the world for £500 a month. So I have done my own SEO over the past 5 months and I think the figures are slowly going up, as are visits and sales (albeit slower than the visits). The site is www.designerboutique-online.com, if anyone is willing to take a look around, throw me some constructive criticism, some praise and some tips/hints etc... that would be great. Our budget is very small, hence the reason for doing it myself, so maybe if I could take some advice and put it into action, I could start making some big changes. Some competitors to compare us with are: www.odsdesignerclothing.com www.tessuti.co.uk www.uniquemenswear.co.uk www.endclothing.co.uk www.psyche.co.uk Thanks Will

Yahoo Site Explorer died. Does DA and PA Seomoz parameters have all it takes to replace YSE?
We're trying to simplify our link analysis job when acquiring a new external link. We're wondering to know if Domain Authority Seomoz parameter is all what we need to take a decision. Does DA Seomoz parameter takes into consideration 'domain age', 'alexa ranking', 'dmoz links', indexed pages on google', and 'inbound links vs outbound links'?
