30,746 Links from One Site to Our Site

I learned this morning in our Google Webmaster Account about a website has 30,746 links to our website. Both our website and their site present information related to plastic materials, so in essence they complement one another.
However, is having that massive amount of links from one site to ours a bad thing and should we use Google Disavow?
Also, they have a PR3 while our site is PR5 (not sure if that matters much).

Just a heads-up: 6 Things To Think About Before Disavowing Links from Search Engine Land.
It states a few interesting thing:
"Matt Cutts warned about using the disavow links tool with caution, and if it were me, I take any warning from him to the heart."
AND
"If you haven’t actually been penalized and you start disavowing your links, you’re essentially outing yourself to Google that you manipulated the system. Make sure that you equivocally know you were penalized and it’s not just some random fluctuation in rankings, a sitemap or indexing problem, or an accidentally no-indexed page."
Just saying... be careful.

In looking at their site, they are a Chinese distributor of plastic materials. They do in fact have a link to our homepage in their footer throughout the website, which appears to be about 13,200 pages (according to site:www.site.com on Google - not super accurate from what I understand, but gives a general idea).
Since there are so many links, digging around it looks like for every plastic they sell, they link to the technical information on our site. My gut instinct just to be safe is to disavow as there appear to be a handful of Chinese sites doing the same thing. I'm thinking this because our site is linked to from several very high level authority sites with solid PR like UL.com and hundreds of .edu's (not sure if edu domains matters that much any more).

Taking an educated guess at this, I imagine that those links are coming from a site-wide anchor that is in the blogroll of footer of the website, and not so much contextual links linked from within relevant content. (I could be wrong, but over 30k makes me think it's on every page of the site).
Regardless of the anchor text, this is a very unnatural link profile. If the links are passing PageRank (that is to say, they are follow links and not marked with "nofollow"), then it is giving Google every reason to assume that the links are only there to pass PageRank and manipulate your site's search visibility.
If this is the case, I'd get in touch with the other site and ask the link to be removed or made "nofollow" ASAP. Should you get no response, you should do a site-wide disavow.
As you may have deduced, if the links are "nofollow", which you can check by viewing the source code or with the Mozbar extension for Chrome or Firefox, then they shouldn't be a problem. Similarly, if they contextual links that point to relevant pages on your website and are designed to help the user, again there shouldn't be much of a problem, unless the anchor text is very targeted.
If they're all passing PageRank, however, it could be seen as a very unnatural signal by Google and they may well penalise you for it.

All incoming links from the site link to various pages of technical information on our site about plastic materials, and little if any link to our homepage.

That does seem like a lot of links; however, if it is linking to relevant content and is doing so with using unique and applicable anchor text, I would think you should be fine.
If it is always linking to your root domain with the same anchor text every time, that may raise a red flag.
Long story short - if it looks natural and makes sense, you "should" be fine.

30% loss organic clicks in last 30 days
Hey all, I am a bit stumped here so looking for some insight. Our site was starting to rank well for many keywords, and we were getting roughly 25k visitors organically per month. Now we are down 30% over the last thirty days, and I am trying to figure out why. This downtrend started I would say about mid August. 1. No messages in webmaster tools.

2. Our linking building is very good, no spammy links, never black hat. We did have someone attempt negative SEO on us back in July. We disavowed those links as soon as we saw them. Basically all our links come from link baiting to quality content. Many .edu links
3. Content is good and fresh, always adding new stuff to the site. When I look in webmaster tools and look at my search queries for last thirty days, our impressions are down dramatically, but the change in average position is increasing. Our top 25 keywords we saw 15 rise in average position, 5 fall, and 5 unchanged. This makes me think there is just a reduction in the amount of people searching for what we offer, though maybe that's wishful thinking? Is there a way to see search volume this month vs last month? What should I be looking at here? Hoping to stop this downward trend ASAP.1 -
Using sitewide links to improve link profile?
Hi Guys... When I look at my competitor's link profile, they often have thousands of backlinks. For example, one of our main competitor, he got 3,400 backlinks in total but only 80 referring domains. When I look at my link profile, I have around 50-60 referring domains, but hardly 80 backlinks. My question is, is it okay to get a few sitewide links (no-follow of course!) to get to the thousands backlinks? Or I will be able to achieve top rankings with my current link profile? Thanks!!

What benefit does a site with a low DA get from someone guest posting who links to a site with a high DA?
I'm relatively new to link building and although this may be an obvious question I can't seem to find an answer anywhere even after searching Google.

Should Penguin makes me question all reciprical links, even relevant ones?
Prior to Penguin, I had begun a link building campaign of sorts for a tourism bureau. All it was designed to do was leverage a wealth of relevant link opportunities that were right under our noses...the bureau's own members. These restaurants, hotels, attractions, etc are extremely relevant web sites with respect to the tourism bureau's target and niche. The links were to be in the form of image badges stating "Proud member of..." with brand-only alt text and title tags. I will focus on keeping these links a reasonable percentage of the overall domains linking into the site, I will vary the alt text throughout, and cultivate the links slowly over a 5-month period. But since the bureau's site already drives traffic to these individual member sites, the links we cultivate will end up being reciprocal. Even though they are natural in the purpose they serve, should we be worried, and consider abandoning the program?

Open Site Explorer and comparing links of competitors , then export the differences?
Hi, I'm totally new to this community so please forgive me if this question is a bit dumb.

A client of mine is trying to get better rankings for a specific keyword and if we check out the competition we notice that our site has way better and more unique content. The tools here at SEOmoz indicates that the competitor sites have more authority, and so probably more backlinks. With the Open Site Explorer I can quickly see what sites are linking to competitor sites.
And since we're in the same country and trying to rank for the same keywords we also are after the same backlinks. Now there are a few that my client is missing compared to the competitors.
So I would love to get a document that tell us what backlinks we are missing instead of
downloading many reports and do all the checks manually. Is this possible? Thank you,

Interesting link to a competitors site
I recently found a very interesting link to two of my competitors sites. The companies are number 2 and 3 in Google for my targeted keywords (for some reason Wikipedia is number 1) and are both linked from the home page of this site. I don't want to leave a link for linkers site because I don't want them to be able to see that I'm snooping on them but, here is the scenerio: The site that they are linked from is a .org site. It is basically our targeted keywords in a .org. Something like bluewidgets.org. At the very bottom of the home page are some tabs, you click the first tab and it opens about 20 new tabs, when you click any of those 20 tabs it displays some text at the bottom of the page. This text is of no value to visitors, it is obvious to me what is happening here. Both companies are linked with targeted keywords in the anchor and title text. I'm wondering if I should also pursue a link from this page. I know there is value in a .org link but this site seems to be built to link to those two sites. Anybody else ever run into anything like I'm describing. Should I post a link to this site?
