Can anyone recommend a wordpress forum for commercial theme help
-
Hi, i am trying to find a forum for wordpress when you have bought a commercial theme. I am looking at learning how to change a site for a better user experience and for better seo but there does not seem to be any wordpress forums that i can find for when people have bought a commercial theme
any help in finding one would be great
-
it is good when there is a forum as you can share experiences and gain knowledge but finding a lot of theme clubs without forums

I am trying to learn how to increase the number of articles i can have where it says gatwick news near the bottom. I would like to have 9 articles instead of the 3.
Depending on how that news is put there, it is likely to be an easy change to a plugin, a widget or a code change.
A 5 minute investigation will tell you which it is.

cheers for this. yes i bought it from them as to basically try and learn all about wordpress before i build one from scratch. I normally use joomla and i was worried for a minute that they were using the site to promote themselves
many thanks

Yea sorry, I can explain a little better. The style.css in a wordpress theme will usually have theme developer information. Yours looks like this:
Theme Name: NewspaperTimes [SinglePro Version] Theme URI: http://magazine3.com Description: Newspaper/Political Wordpress Magazine Theme Version: 4.1 Author: Magazine3 Author URI: [http://magazine3.com](http://magazine3.com/) If you purchased it from them then you should be entitle to some sort of support. And as for the firefox developer tools you're inspecting the CSS and HTML, there's a lot involved in making the changes you want to make. You'd need to be comfortable with those as well as PHP to dynamically load in featured images and excerpts.
-
Hi, can you explain what you mean by Well, the name of your theme folder is "newpaper times single pro." Search returns pretty much all torrent and spam sites
It is not the word gatwick that i am after, i am wanting to put more news there and are new to wordpress. I have been trying to use the firefox tool but not making any sense to be honest.
-
Well, the name of your theme folder is "newpaper times single pro." Search returns pretty much all torrent and spam sites. So theme support is probably nonexistent. However, I think you have enough of the word Gattwick as it is.

get rid of your side panel or
Any of the two

I mean when you buy a theme from a template club. I know wordpress has a forum if you download their free themes but they do not allow you to mention any theme that has been bought if you are trying to learn how to do things

Hi ColinSv. I have just installed Yoast Seo and I am very impressed with it. I normally use Joomla but I am enjoying learning how to use wordpress.
The site i am working on is www.cheapflightsgatwick.com
i am trying to learn how to increase the number of articles i can have where it says gatwick news near the bottom. I would like to have 9 articles instead of the 3.

I think he means, themes that have been reworked for resale...Like some of the vendors ColinSV mentions..
-
I know WooThemes and ElegantThemes both offer great forum based support. Customization and troubleshooting support is so important in WP projects that I only look at themes from developers that have engaged communities.
-
Woothemes have very well designed and built themes right out of the box. They integrate well with SEO plugins as well. They do have a written documentation and a support forum where users and the developers will answer questions you have.
-
Theme developers normally provide direct support for the themes they sell. So it really depends who you purchased your theme from.
If you bought it directly from a vendor like woothemes, themify, etc., then you will definitely find support options on the website where you made the purchase.
If you bought your theme from a marketplace like themeforest.com, then you'd need to log back in and look for the developer or theme author - they will have some sort of theme support option through they're author profile. If they don't, then they're probably not the most reputable vendor.
Also many SEO improvements won't be theme-dependent and are easy to make with the help of plugins like YoastSEO or All in One SEO pack.
What kinds of things are you trying to do? I may be able to point you in the right direction...

Can I rely on just robots.txt
We have a test version of a clients web site on a separate server before it goes onto the live server. Some code from the test site has some how managed to get Google to index the test site which isn't great! Would simply adding a robots text file to the root of test simply blocking all be good enough or will i have to put the meta tags for no index and no follow etc on all pages on the test site also?

Adding .html To Wordpress Site
I am working on a team (my part is the SEO) where the developer added the .html extension to the permalinks. I don't understand why, on Wordpress, you would do this. Is there any benefit, or penalty for it as an SEO standpoint? I usually just set mine up %postname% as the permalink structure, but I am not the web design lead on this project. I asked the designer why, but he seems to be reluctant to answer any of my emails about his work, (like he is above that or something). Not wanting to make things worse, I dropped it and thought I would ask here since I saw a few posts in reference to it today in the forum. Is there an advantage or disadvantage (either way) to using the .html extension on a Wordpress site?

WordPress blog and XML sitemap
I have a friend that just spent 15K on a new site and believe it or not the developer did not incorporate a CMS into the site. If a WP blog is built and the URL is added to the site's XML sitemap, for all intensive purposes, would Google view this URL as part of the site in terms of overall number of links, referring domains etc.? The developer is saying that even if the WP URL is added to the XML sitemap, Google will not view this URL as part of the site domain. I cannot think of another way of adding unique content to the site unless the developer is paid to build new pages every month. If the WP blog is not part of the overall domain, then we're left with the URL simply pointing back to the domain with anchor text and such and not adding to the total number of links and RD... ANY THOUGHTS ON THIS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thanks Mozzers!

Help with Rel Canonical on Wordpress?
Crawl Diagnostics is showing a lot of Rel Canonical warnings, I've installed Wordpress SEO by Joose De Valk and Home Canonical URL plugins without success. Any ideas? I'm getting a lot of URL's that I thought I blocked from being indexed, such as author pages, category pages, etc. I'm also getting stuff like "recessionitis.com/?homeq=recent" and "recessionitis.com/page/2/", those pages are similar to my homepage. I thought those plugins were suppose to automatically clean things up.. anyone use these plugins that have any helpful hints?

The course of action to move my macro site to some mini sites- justin if you can help
We have a site that we want to break up into mini sites but keep the old site for the major brands. Empirecovers.com is the major and we want to break it off into Empire Truck Covers and Empire Boat covers. What I am thinking of doing is linking from the home to Empiretruckcovers.com instead of a mini page on the site and 301 redirect the mini page to empiretruckcovers.com. Than (there wont be duplicate content) making a small page for truck covers on empire just so people do not get confused. Is this the best way to go or what do you suggest? We are doing this because I feel there is seo value in having mini sites and also the user experience will be cleaner and people will trust it a lot more than inside a big site. The other problem is I have some great rankings on the pages so I want to do it so there is as little damage as possible. I guess once I start I will do all the free directories, yahoo directory and try to get links as fast as I can. Any suggestions would be great. I am going to do a/b testing to see if my adwords convert better on mini site or on the big site for certain keywords too
