Do 410 show in the 404 not found section in Google Webmaster Tools?

Question: Do 410 show in the 404 not found section in Google Webmaster Tools?
Specific situation: We got rid of an entire subdomain except for a few pages that we 301'd to relevant content on our main domain. The rest return a 404 not found. These show up in our google webmaster tools as crawl errors. I was wondering since 410 is a content gone error and we intentionally want this content gone, if we switch it to 410, does Google still report it as a 404 error?
Thanks

Hi Spencer
I'm honestly not sure if they'll show a 410 (I would assume so). I just check a bunch of profiles in my WMT tools account and didn't see any, although they are less common.
This help page and other sources from Google have always seemed to imply they don't think of them as very different, in regards to their impact on search.
If your goal is to make sure the pages return the intended codes, maybe you could keep a list and crawl them in list mode in Screaming Frog to check the response codes.
If they do show in WMT for you, let us know! I'd be interested to see confirmation of that.

Given the spec, a 410 for truly gone pages will be better regardless of reporting or Google.
http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.ca/2011/05/do-404s-hurt-my-site.html
Sadly, from that page: "Currently Google treats 410s (Gone) the same as 404s (Not found), so it’s immaterial to us whether you return one or the other."
This is direct non-compliance which I can only guess is due to people unwittingly use the code incorrectly. Then again, they have allowed little errors to completely wipe out a site before.
There has been a suggestion from other engineers that it will reduce the number of Googlebot retries and 410'd page will take longer to re-index if they do reappear. http://productforums.google.com/d/msg/webmasters/i70G2ZAhLmQ/neKEH4spacUJ
EDIT oops, your question. Seems Google reports all the errors it finds but I personally can not attest to seeing a 410. Here is the list of errors in the GWMT help section: http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=40132
410 is on the list.

How to leverage Google Images?
My Google search rankings are improving rapidly at the moment, but a lot of my rankings are for images (presume that means the images are appearing near the top in Google Images). How do I capitalise on that? It's not really much help to me that my images are popular unless it results in traffic to the pages where those images are used. I am running Wordpress so I have the option to have images embed as "no link", "link to attachment page", "link to original image", etc. Is there any advantage of using one of these over the other? I'd really like to set it up so that when a Google Images user clicks "View Image" it loads the attachment page or the host content page rather than the image. Bad SEO? I'm not sure if the fact that I'm using Jetpack Photon CDN image hosting will make this more complicated or not. Tony

PDF Cached by Google, but not showing as link
The following pdf is cached by google: http://www.sba.gov/sites/default/files/files/REFERRAL%20LIST%20OF%20BOND%20AGENCIES_Florida.pdf However, OpenSiteExplorer is not listing any of the links as found in it. With such an authoritative site, I would think Google would value this, right? None of the sites listed rank well though and OpenSiteExplorer's inability to see the links makes me wonder if Google provides these sites any value at all. Is there any link juice or brand mention value here for Google?

Video SEO for Google
I was wondering what the prime factors were to make something rank for a video on Google. Does anyone have any suggestions? I think that length may be important, but I don't know what the ideal run time is. Hypothetically for local SEO, would I be better off doing a tag like "Mercedes Buffalo NY" or do individual tags of "Mercedes" and "Buffalo" Thanks!

"No index" page still shows in search results and paginated pages shows page 2 in results
I have "no index, follow" on some pages, which I set 2 weeks ago. Today I see one of these pages showing in Google Search Results. I am using rel=next prev on pages, yet Page 2 of a string of pages showed up in results before Page 1. What could be the issue?

400 errors and URL parameters in Google Webmaster Tools
On our website we do a lot of dynamic resizing of images by using a script which automatically re-sizes an image dependant on paramaters in the URL like: www.mysite.com/images/1234.jpg?width=100&height=200&cut=false In webmaster tools I have noticed there are a lot of 400 errors on these image Also when I click the URL's listed as causing the errors the URL's are URL Encoded and go to pages like this (this give a bad request): www.mysite.com/images/1234.jpg?%3Fwidth%3D100%26height%3D200%26cut%3Dfalse What are your thoughts on what I should do to stop this? I notice in my webmaster tools "URL Parameters" there are parameters for:

cut which must be from the Image URLs. These are currently set to "Let Google Decide", but should I change them manually to "Doesn't effect page content"? Thanks in advance0 -
301 or 404?
My client has a classified ads website with hundreds of thousands of classified ads. These ads expire quite fast. When the ad expires it gets removed. At the moment this results in a 404 page and thus hundreds of thousands of 404 erros in Webmasters Tools. From what I know this damages SERP results due to slow indexing of important sites and 404 being just plain bad SEO. I suggested doing a 301 from the expired ads to a upper category but this feels like cheating. The content hasn't actually moved, it has been removed. What would you suggest?
