SEOMOZ and Webmaster Tools showing Different Page Index Results
-
I am promoting a jewelry e-commerce website.
The website has about 600 pages and the SEOMOZ page index report shows this number.
However, webmaster tools shows about 100,000 indexed pages. I have no idea why this is happening and I am sure this is hurting the page rankings in Google. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Guy

Hi Guy,
I am experiencing the same thing. We have performed site: searches with negatives to narrow down where all the junk is coming from, and we have disallowed those subdirectories in our robots.txt file. It has worked somewhat but only cut the number of indexed pages in half. We still have well over our number of real pages. If you learn anything new, I'd like to hear about it!
thanks,
Katherine

Yes, I am aware that this creates duplicate content issue.
on the site command I see few pages (not all)
and to my surprise few are blocked in robot.txt many months ago.
this is very frustrating

Do a site:yourdomain.com search on Google and see where all the extra pages are coming from. There could be some potential duplicate content issues.

Why is my entire page appearing as a video result (and only a video result)?
A page on my site is appearing as a video result. When you click on the link, it takes you to the page. The page does have a video on it, but it seems weird that the entire page would appear as (and only as) a video...

SERPs showing hundreds of nonexistent pages
My site has this page (URL) that actually exists on my site https://mysite.com/ranking/rankings-of-nike-running-shoes but somehow I can see the following versions in SERPs (these URLs are not physically available on my site): https://mysite.com/ranking/rankings-of-rankings-of-rankings-of-nike-running-shoes

https://mysite.com/ranking/rankings-of-rankings-of-nike-running-shoes I even started getting traffic from these URLs that are in Google's index. So, only the first one actually existins on my site: https://mysite.com/ranking/rankings-of-nike-running-shoes https://mysite.com/ranking**/rankings-of-rankings-of-**rankings-of-nike-running-shoes https://mysite.com/ranking/**rankings-of-**rankings-of-nike-running-shoes Questions are:
a. I'm not sure how the latter two - 2) and 3) - got in Google's index.
b. what do I do with them. My idea is to 301 redirect them to the actual page that exists https://mysite.com/ranking/rankings-of-nike-running-shoes Do I need to also somehow remove the faulty URLs - 2) and 3) - from Google's index or 301 redirecting is enough?0 -
Bulk URL Removal in Webmaster Tools
One of Wordpress sites was hacked (for about 10 hours), and Google picked up 4000+ urls in the index. The site is fixed, but I'm stuck with all those urls in the index. All the urls of of the form: walkerorthodontics.com/index.php?online-payday-cash-loan.htmloncewe The only bulk removal option I could find was to remove an entire folder, but I can't do that, as it would only leave the homepage and kill off everything else. For some crazy reason, the removal tools doesn't support wildcards, so that obvious solution is right out. So, how do it get rid of 4000 results? And no, waiting around for them to 404 out of the index isn't an option.

Duplicate content on Product pages for different product variations.
I have multiple colors of the same product, but as a result I'm getting duplicate content warnings. I want to keep these all different products with their own pages, so that the color can be easily identified by browsing the category page. Any suggestions?

Link Webmaster Tools to Tag Manager
I know it is now possible to verify google webmaster tools accounts using google tag manager, but is it also possible to create a link from webmaster tools to tag manager? I would like to connect the two. I have analytics already linked to tag manager, but can't find a clear answer regarding webmaster tools. Anybody? tx!

Changed cms - google indexes old and new pages
Hello again, after posting below problem I have received this answer and changed sitemap name Still I receive many duplicate titles and metas as google still compares old urls to new ones and sees duplicate title and description.... we have redirectged all pages properly we have change sitemap name and new sitemap is listed in webmastertools - old sitemap includes ONLY new sitemap files.... When you deleted the old sitemap and created a new one, did you use the same sitemap xml filename? They will still try to crawl old URLs that were in your previous sitemap (even if they aren't listed in the new one) until they receive a 404 response from the original sitemap. If anone can give me an idea why after 3 month google still lists the old urls I'd be more than happy thanks a lot Hello, We have changed cms for our multiple language website and redirected all odl URl's properly to new cms which is working just fine.

Right after the first crawl almost 4 weeks ago we saw in google webmaster tool and SEO MOZ that google indexes for almost every singlepage the old URL as well and the new one and sends us for this duplicate metatags.
We deleted the old sitemap and uploaded the new and thought that google then will not index the old URL's anymore. But we still see a huge amount of duplicate metatags. Does anyone know what else we can do, so google doe snot index the old url's anymore but only the new ones? Thanks so much Michelle0
