Main Menu

On our website http://villasdiani.com we have in main menu 3 categories+1 category which scrolls down, and 2 pages.
In order to avoid duplicate we have set categories non index. Is it not a problem that in main menu of the website are categories which are set non-index?
There are as well 2 pages of which 1 is contact page which is also set on non-index and the second is Favorites page where visitor can view properties they liked and is also set on non index.
I will appreciate any help

Thank you very much for your answer! The categories have the most important value to our visitors. They have villas, hotels and cottages, which we want they will book. I just set them nonindex as they are duplicate of the posts which are set to indexed. We are using wordpress and yoast seo.

as long as you consider a page should not be indexed because delivers no real value to your visitors, it is perfectly fine set the meta tag "noindex".
But, be aware, do not block those pages in robots.txt, too, because Googlebot won't be able to read the noindex tag, and your page might still appear as indexed. Happened to me.
I also have in the main menu of a quite popular website pages with noindex tag and it does quite well in SERPs.

Menu setup
I'm looking for feedback on menu structure to be SEO friendly. This is setup with ubmenu. What I am gathering is that because of the amount of items it could cause issues with google because it is exceeding the maximum links per page, currently the come shows 153 links. Requirements for mobile menu design have created a duplicated menu in the text/cache view.
Hi, Upon checking the text cache view of our home page, I noticed the main menu has been duplicated. Please see: Â http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://www.trinitypower.com&strip=1 Our coder tells me he created one version for the desktop and one for the mobile version. Â Duplicating the menu cannot be good for on page SEO. Â With that said, I have had no warnings reported back from Moz. Â Maybe the moz bots are not tuned to looks for such a duplication error. Anyway, the reason the coder created a different menu for mobile in order to support the design requirements. Â I did not like the look and feel of the responsive version created based on the desktop version. Hi solution to this problem is to convert the Mobile version menu into ajax. Should the primary navigation use keyword rich menu items?
There doesn't seem to be a definitive (or even authoritative) answer to this. The quandry is primary top navigation - the client wants to use 2-3 keyword length nav items, and I'm politely forcing him to use single word nav. The problem is that I have nothing to back up that assertion other than "this way looks better". Examples - Site is www.buybluewidgets.com. Best method to stop crawler access to extra Nav Menu
Our shop site has a 3 tier drop down mega-menu so it's easy to find your way to anything from anywhere. It contains about 150 links and probably 300 words of text. We also have a more context-driven single layer of sub-category navigation as well as breadcrumbs on our category pages. You can get to every product and category page without using the drop down mega-menu. Although the mega-menu is a helpful tool for customers, it means that every single page in our shop has an extra 150 links on it that go to stuff that isn't necessarily related or relevant to the page content. This means that when viewed from the context of a crawler, rather than a nice tree like crawling structure, we've got more of an unstructured mesh where everything is linked to everything else. I'd like to hide the mega-menu links from being picked up by a crawler, but what's the best way to do this? I can add a nofollow to all mega-menu links, but are the links still registered as page content even if they're not followed? It's a lot of text if nothing else. Another possibility we're considering is to set the mega-menu to only populate with links when it's main button is hovered over. So it's not part of the initial page load content at all. Or we could use a crude yet effective system we have used for some other menus we have of base encoding the content inline so it's not readable by a spider. What would you do and why? Thanks, James

Are links from main page to inner pages will affect on ranking?
About 3 weeks ago I converted index.html to index.php. Both are 301 redirect to main url. Also I have about 70 links on main page pointing to internal pages. The Website is about 11 years old,and was on active link building . Is this conversion from html to php and also 70 links pointing to inner pages will affect on ranking?Since all links are passing juice to inner pages.

How does the "first link" rule work with the "reasonable surfer patent" when it comes to the main navigation for a website?
In trying to figure out navigation for a new website, I am struggling with the first link rule vs. the reasonable surfer patent where the first link rule implies that Google "counts" the first link to a page including navigation, and the reasonable surfer patent that implies that navigation links carry less weight than body copy links. What is the best solution for creating main navigation so that it doesn't take away from the body copy links?
