Hi Keri,
Could you clarify what we are discussing with tfbpa about the user privileges required to connect a Google Analytics account to a SEOmoz campaign?
Thanks!
-
Thanks for the great (and speedy) answers, Matt and Jesse!
We (along with any other integrator) do need some proof of permission to access an analytics account. Otherwise, I could just go grab the GA account ID off any site I wanted, hook it into a third-party tool, and see all their data; as well as the reverse happening and someone doing that to you. If you explain it that way, it may be a little easier to get permission perhaps.

Don't give out good answers too quickly...
Also, they could give you access to their Google Analytics account without giving you their password, just adding you as a user in their settings area, under user manager tab..
Branagan is correct in the above.
I don't know if SEOmoz accepts regular users of Analytics accounts (but I don't see any reason why they shouldn't), but even if they did, your client can add you as administrator. But of course this is not ideal and should not be necessary.
Google added the possibility of adding additional users to Analytics accounts especially for the reason you are asking, so it should work perfectly.

If it's an extreme case, and they are adamant about giving you their Goggle account details, there may be a workaround: you can give them your SEOmoz credentials and a link pointing to the "Connect to my GA account" page, that way they could accept it and after that you could change your SEOmoz password again.

Hope it helps.

ask for their permission? Explain that it would behoove them to permit access. Problem is the only way to do this is with their Gmail login info, so they will have to provide you with that. If they do not trust you with that then I would question why they trust you with their SEO work.
edit - oops, matt beat me to it. same idea though.
-
Simple answer... You cant.
You should contact your client and ask them for access so you can add yourself as a user on their account. Without this you might struggle. Even looking beyond simply connecting their GA account to your SEOMoz campaign, I would say that working on someone's website without access to their GA might be a little tough... Not impossible but it will make your job much harder.

Big discrepancy between GA an GSC
Hey! I would really appreciate if someone could help me on this 🙂 I have a website with separate mobile and desktop versions, on GSC I see a huge drop in the number of clicks on the mobile website and an increase in the number of clicks on the desktop website, however this isn't reflected at all in GA. GA shows that mobile traffic hasn't increased for any version of the website and the webpages losing traffic according to GSC are flat/growing on GA (even if I look at traffic coming from organic only). Has anyone experienced something similar or has any possible explanation? Thanks!

Weird URL Structure in GA
Hey everyone, Thanks in advance for any insight on this. I've been researching it quite a bit on Google and haven't found anything yet. In Analytics, under our pages report, we're getting a lot of pages that look like this: www.execucar.com/https://www.execucar.com or www.execucar.com/https://www.execucar.com/locations/orlando-car-service Any thoughts on how to fix this? These pages don't exist...I'm at such a loss.

How do sites without access to a site's analytical data, determine a site's organic traffic?
I've recently used a organic traffic checker that showed you your traffic compared to each google algo update. I was interested in how they derived the organic traffic totals for each month, without having access to our site's google analytics? I've since compared the data to historical google analytics data and it's not wrong, isn't 100% match either but isn't far from fact. So if they're predicting or making a guess, it's rather spot on, site crawlers and SERPs snapshots only provide so much info, I'm just wondering where they get the rest from and how?

How to see traffic for specific keywords in GA
Hell guys, What i want to achieve is to generate a list of specific keywords showing traffic for a certain periode of time. I also want so be able to compare this time period with historical data. I want a list as shown in: Traffic sources -> sources -> search -> organic. This shows a list of keywords generating traffic out of the organic search results. When you use a filter you can only use one word so it seems. I just want to create that list but with the specific keywords i choose to display. I tried advanced reports and advanced segments but that doesn't really give me what i want. The idea behind this whole thing is that i want to give my client an overview of the traffic received on the words we are optimizing for. this traffic has to be compared to the previous month so they can see clearly if there were changes. Thx !

"It appears there's a problem with our connection to your Google Analytics ...
account. Please go to your Settings page to update your connection." I set up a GA account for our website (www.edao.biz) prior to creating the SEO campaign. When I set up the campaign it told me there was a problem. I tried to fix the connection using the Settings page and it created a second account - however, it still cannot connect to it. In the GA account, it shows that I have granted access to pro.seomoz.org. I did not setup a 2-step verification with GA; don't think that's the issue. Should I blow both GA accounts away and try again? I don't think it's working correctly, and I would really like to be able to see the analytics for our site. I did see that in the GA account I had checked [v] Share my Google Analytics data... [v ] with other Google products only. - What should be the proper setting? (BTW I'm a bit lost with the new GA, I still go to the old interface (though ugly, it shows more links and info)) Thank you, Ingrid

Want to link to GA profile, but the one I want is not showing in drop-down
How can I manually add the correct Google Analytics data in to my account? The two options I see on the drop-down are not the ones I want to select and I don't see a way to do it manually. Help!

Do I need to turn off custom results or empty my cache before using the SEOMOZ Pro Rank checker?
I'm getting unusual swings in SERPS ranks from one day to another (I had several keywords ranked in top ten go to the the third or fourth page in a week). I knwo that there's always variation because of localized and custom search, but this seems to be something more.

Creating a Filter in GA to track Parent Category
I don't know if the title makes sense, but here's my question... Our newspaper website has multiple categories like World, Sport, Entertainment etc. Now, a story, belonging to the entertainment section maybe published on the entertainment page but is likely to have a slot somewhere on the Home page as well as other pages. The same goes for stories in sport etc. However, the url displays the date folllowed by the post title and thats it, no category name. Now, a user may end up going to a detailed story that belongs to the entertainment section (from the home page or any other page) without actually having visited the entertainment page. However, for tracking purposes, we want to see how many hits we got on the entertainment page and any story belonging to that particular section. So, my question is how do I go about creating filters that can help me track category page and detail story hits as one? Or, should I ammend the url structure (keep in mind we are using wordpress for our news website) to include category after the date and would this solve my problem of tracking? I asked a similar question recently but maybe I did not explain myself clearly. Thanks!
