Do Follow and No Follow Attributes?
-
I have a blog on Trulia and Active Rain which are real estate websites. I see that they both are Do Follow.
My question is how much link juice do these sites pass a long to my site when I write a blog post on these sites and create a link to my main site?
I've heard somewhere that even though a link has a Do Follow attribute it passes little link juice in certain cases like a no follow attribute.
Also, if a link is a No Follow link, does it still pass along some link juice or is it completely juiceless.
Is there a way to see which sites pass the most link juice to my site?
Thanks all.

Well put , also keep in mind that to many no follow links are also not a good link profile Variation

There's nothing wrong per se with a 'do follow' link. It's just sort of a redundancy. You can argue that 'Do Follow' links could pass little or no link juice if a blog for example has enabled 'do follow' on comments on the blog. In this case you're kind of inviting spam and as a result, little or no link juice may be passed.

You can look at the domain and page authority of individual pages for some idea. Because of some of the delays in how SEOmoz updates its index, you might not get as an accurate picture for newer posts.
Links near the top of the page tend to hold more weight than ones in sidebars, footers, and traditional author bios at the end of posts. Also search engines will only follow the first link to a page that it finds. For instance, if you have three links to example.com/homes, each with different (or the same) anchor texts, the search engine will only follow the first one that has a Do Follow attribute. Though you can have multiple links to different pages on the site - if the first link goes to example.com/home and the second goes to example.com/home2 then the search engine will follow both.
Further, the more posts you have on one site with links pointing to your website, the less power each individual link has. It's not going to hurt you, but the individual gains each link brings will be smaller and smaller.
So the short answer is, no there's no real way to see which sites pass "the most" link juice to your site. You can get an idea for which ones might be helping more, but it's only going to be an estimate.
I'm of the opinion that No Follow links help show that you have a natural link portfolio since having none implies that you could be spamming, but by themselves they won't do anything to influence your rankings.

Link to webdesign bureau in footer on follow or nofollow
As we are growing fast, more and more websites go online. When they do, we always put a link in the footer which says: ‘Webdesign by Conversal’. But this is creating a substantial amount of backlinks to our root domain with the same anchors. Recently, we’ve moved our websites to different servers to spread the risk of a server crashing. I think Google now sees the backlinks through different IP’s as artificial, not natural, while Semrush and Moz are giving us a toxic score. What is your advice on this? Will we need a ‘no-follow’ attribute to each link on every website? Or could we better write a small case article for each client, where we can link to in the footer?

To No Follow, or to Not No Follow?
So one of the big issues facing my website is that Moz seems to be picking up all of the ''Search'' and ''Tag'' pages, which is causing duplicate content. I cannot see any use for Google to index these pages, so is it better to create a No-Follow rule specific to Search and Tag?

Huge organic drop following new site go live
Hi Guys, I am currently working on a site that's organic traffic suffered ( and is still suffering ) a huge drop in organic traffic. From a consistent 3-400 organic visits a day to almost zero. This happened as soon as the new site went live. I am now digging to find out why. 301s were put in place ( over 2, 500 over them ) and there are still over 1,100 outstanding after review search console this morning. Having looked at the redirect file that was put in place when the new site went live, it all look OK, apart from the redirects look like this... http://www.physiotherapystore.com/ to http://physiotherapystore.com/ Where the new URL is missing www. - I am concerned this is causing a large duplicate issue as both www. and non www. work fine. I am right to have concern or is this something not to worry about?

ECommerce website with link to manufactures site for ordering - Should these links be follow or no follow?
Dear Mozzers, I have a couple of questions regarding link juice and whether I should have do follow or no follow links ? We have an affiliate eCommerce website and on our product pages we have a "Order online " button which will go our subdomain on the manufactures site in order for the user to complete the online ordering process So it's - www.ourcompany.co.uk - "Order Online Button" - www.manufactuer.ourcompany.co.uk Should this " Order online Button" be a Follow or No Follow link ? I ask this as currently from looking at Majestic seo , these "order online " buttons on my product pages seems to be Follow links so am I losing potential link juice by sending it externally ? Am I correct in assuming by changing it to be no follows, I would increase the link juice going elsewhere internally? thanks Pete

Show Decorative Details or Consolidate Pages with Attributes
This is a site with handcrafted home décor products. Is it better seo to have 1 product for each spoon style and use attributes to show the display options? The decorative display details are important. How do you deal with the important details of the display options? One set of products is measuring spoon sets. For each spoon there are 4 different display options: wood or pewter and hang on a tall post or hang on a wide wall hanger. And there are 8 different spoon styles. The pewter displays have design details matched to the spoon style. (eg. the fish spoon has fishes on it's hanger, the fleur de lys has fleur de lys on it) So the attributes do not change the product itself but instead change the look of how they are displayed. At present each display option/ spoon style is shown as a separate item. That makes 32 different products on the category page. What do you feel is the best way to deal with showing style details and consolidating pages for better seo? Best wishes from Vermont Handcrafter

What type of links should be followed and nofollowed internally?
We have submitted our sitemap.xml to search engines so now that they have that should we use a nofollow attribute on the sitemap.html? Do we even need a sitemap.html? For other links on the site such as: Contact us About Us Locations and other phrases that we are not trying to rank for should we set these to nofollow?

Category Pages - Canonical, Robots.txt, Changing Page Attributes
A site has category pages as such: www.domain.com/category.html, www.domain.com/category-page2.html, etc... This is producing duplicate meta descriptions (page titles have page numbers in them so they are not duplicate). Below are the options that we've been thinking about: a. Keep meta descriptions the same except for adding a page number (this would keep internal juice flowing to products that are listed on subsequent pages). All pages have unique product listings. b. Use canonical tags on subsequent pages and point them back to the main category page. c. Robots.txt on subsequent pages. d. ? Options b and c will orphan or french fry some of our product pages. Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thank you.
