What is the best Press Release website?
-
What is the best press release website for getting a press release in front of writers and news sources? We have used a couple with OK success, but I would like to hear and learn from the experiences of others.
Thanks
*I am not concerned with the page rank of the press release site or any SEO benefit coming from the PR website itself.
-
Yes, I believe I have experienced the opposite. I use PRWeb a lot. The link value I find is not necessarily in the press release itself; it is in the many industry specific pickups that choose to re-post a well-written article. Today, most of my press release add considerable value to my clients because they are often picked-up in full with all links kept in tact. This means my article is carried by reader choice to my niche, giving the validation that search engines are seeking.
Another key positive factor of a news worthy press release is that Google seems to understand "duplicate content" in another light. When it is considered "news" search engines anticipate the content being copied and shared.
Hope that helps.

No problem Alan. I knew this question would seem like the typical, "Can I rank from PR links," question.
Honestly, that is why we have never used these sites. In theory, if these site were used correctly, I think they might be valuable, but the amount of spam and hopeless SEO's that post useless content for a face value link, seem to bombard any hope of usefully content every being found or trusted by editors and writers.
I just wanted to check and see if anyone has ever experienced the opposite and had a real story or blog post come from their press release being found on a PR site.
-
OK got ya.
Most times I hear such a question it is from people that think PR sites are going to put them at #1, I should of read your question to the end.
-
Hi Alan, thanks for your response. I am not concerned with the link from the press release website. I know it is not valuable I'm just wondering if anyone has ever had a press release they published one these websites turn into an actual article or blog post on a relevant website. Currently we do not use these website. We individually reach out to new sources and blogs, but I know that there is no way we could target 100% of the relevant sources that could potential publish content. That is the only use I can see these PR websites serving for us, if they deliver on that. Also, just the fact that it is obvious tons of companies still use these websites to publish their press releases, I wanted to hear if anyone has ever experienced success with them.
-
IMO none
why would a search engine give any value to a link you can obtain yourself. they want to see that other people find your page exciting, not yourself. since Penguin I have seen better results from removing links than adding them.
-
yes, I used prweb.com & PRLOG.org they are good but I would recommend that find the best websites of your niche contact them for press release. If they agree publish there.
nodoubt that you can go for prweb.com & PRLOG.org sites but google knows these sites very well & give ranks according their preferences but if you publish your news in your niche then google finds it is relevant links.
-
Takeshi, thanks for your answer. We do take a tailored approach for local news sources and industry specific blogs. That is where we have a huge success rate, but I was more looking to see you or anyone else has had success using websites like, prweb.com or prnewswire.com. By success, I mean relevant news sources creating an article/blog posts or contacting you for a story.
Also, thanks for the book recommendation. I will definitely check that one out.
-
It really depends on what industry you are in, and what writers/news sources you are targeting.
For local news sites, it's often best to get the contact info for their tips/new submissions, and submit your tailored press release to them directly. Meeting the journalists in person will also increase your chances of them considering your news item.
Same with bloggers. Find the bloggers you're interested in, learn about what kind of content they tend to cover, and send them releases that are presented in a way that's easy for them to digest. Many times content hungry bloggers will just copy and paste your press release entirely if it's written well enough.
I would also recommend the book "Trust Me, I'm Lying" for some good advice on how to get blog/news coverage:

Please critique my seo packages page on my website
Hello, I think there is a lot of room for improvement to my SEO packages (analysis) page on my website. Visit it by clicking here. I've always done SEO for our own business, so I'm new to this. Any help is appreciated. btw: I'm going to redo the chart on the page. I don't think profit and sales would ever compare like that. Thanks.

Impact SEO when sharing with other PC urls a mobile website url
Struggle with the following impact on SEO if starting to share mobile website URL. We have multiple PC urls (5 different domains). For example www.site1.com, www.site2.com, www.site3.com, www.site4.com and www.site5.com. Now I have to convince other people within the company not to use one mobile website url for all different domains. The intention is to direct all mobile traffic from site1, site2, site3, site4 and site5 to the url: m.site4.com. Based on the following articles I already wanted to combine the www.site4.com with the m.site4.com to one entity, based on the third method which is supported by Google. https://developers.google.com/webmasters/smartphone-sites/details and http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com.au/2013/06/changes-in-rankings-of-smartphone_11.html But now I have to give SEO impact feedback on the other domains. The obvious one is site1, site2, site3 and site5 will not have positive mobile SERP indexation. Second impact: Duplicated content issues across multiple websites.

Third impact:users from site1, site2, site3 and site5 will see the change in URL, could give a negative user experience.
Fourth impact: text on site1 / site2 / site3 / site5 is not the same as on site 4 this will implement maybe hidden content issues, which could cause penalties. Do I miss other negative SEO impact, I have been searching a lot of the articles / blogs, Q&A but can't really find sufficient information about this particular subject. Any feedback or links to articles / blogs / Q&A are highly appreciated.0 -
Best way to charge my clients...........I think I finally decided
I have struggled with the best way to charge my clients FOREVER it seems and I think I finally have decided on how to proceed! ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated! (I have read the seomoz blog posts about the subject, the Art of SEO and Search Engine Optimization Secrets book and tons of blogs, etc). I got into this business because of what I was able to accomplish with my party rental companies website and what I had studied and read for months and months. Without knowing any better I tried to get into SEO and online marketing and fell straight into designing websites and subcontractors and hosting and everything EXCEPT seo work! sound familiar? I CAN'T be the only one this happened to 🙂 I have regrouped and finally gotten my FIRST pure SEO client. They agreed to pay me $3,000 over 6 months for JUST recommendations with monthly reporting on traffic, # of links, etc. My plan is to charge clients X amount of dollars broken up over 6 months - $2-5k. (that will include monthly reporting) for a list of recommendations. (on page, link opportunities, design suggestions, kw suggestions, email campaign, on and on). NO MORE $400-500 FOR A WHOLE WEBSITE - INCLUDING CONTENT CREATION! (I was stupid enough to do this - TWICE! I like doing it this way so I can focus on giving them maximum value right from the get go and not slowing spoon feeding my knowledge out to them or them getting burned out after 2 months and not wanting to continue because they haven't seen a miracle yet. I will justify the clients investment by dividing that lump sum by $75 an hour (low for some of you I know) and track the time I spend researching links, their competitors, their on page, etc. and include it in my monthly report. I plan to give my first client their report in a few weeks and it will be pretty comprehensive but not EVERY thing I can think of but enough to impress. They are welcome to pursue the links I found, make the site changes, etc themselves OR I will be happy to have ALL my recommendations implemented for them for a reasonable, fair amount. If they want me to do it I will explain my staff will be doing the work and it will be $25 +/- an hour vs. $75 Sorry for the long post and thanks for hanging in there if you read this far! 🙂 I would love any suggestions or flaws with my plan! Thanks in advance and have an AWESOME week! Matthew

I have a new client that needs help with a bad review. Of course it may not be able to be deleted, but I have started to scratch the surface on how to help 'push it down' using SEO. Can any offer advice on a definitive source of learning reputation management? Many thanks!

Help on implementing schema.org in our hotel website
Hi, We came across with this schema.org and we decide that it will be helpful in our website if we can implement it properly. But somehow reading through the documents still makes us confused on how to use it. Can anybody show me how to use it? For example in our homepage www.florahospitality.com I can use the itemType Local business on the content but I can also use the itemType Hotel on the Hotel Listing dropdown. Is it advisable the two type at the same time?
