Mirrored content/ images

We are currently in the process of creating a new website in place of our old site (same URL etc.) We've recently created another website which has the same design/ layout/ pictures and general site architecture as our new site will have. If I was to add alt test to images only on one site would we still be penalised by Google as the sites 'look' the same, event thought they will have completely different URL's and different focusses on a similar topic. Content will be different also, but both sites will focus on a similar subject.
Thanks

If the content is unique, there's very little chance you will be penalized for duplicate content.
That said, I've often worked with many eCommerce companies that like to build new sites for new brands or to take a different marketing angle. In general, these sites double the effort required to get them to rank. Not sure if this applies to you, but I generally find it better to try to keep all the efforts focused on a single site.
Regardless, best of luck with your SEO!

If you are creating a new website with a new URL structure, you should 301 redirect all the old URLs to the new URLs. Google with then know where the old site moved to. The duplicate points are moo as Google will delete your old website out of the index and replace it with the new one.
The duplicate issue only comes up if you have two sites running concurrently. Not sure why you would want to do that., but if you had two sites, Google will not be able to tell if the images are the same per se. It can do things like look at the alt tag, but it can look at the file name, the image size, the image dimensions etc etc.
You will probably be ok re-using the images as you mention, but I would focus more on getting the old site moved to the new one with 301s. If you are creating a new site as the old one got penalized, I would re-use as little as possible from the old site (for obvious reasons).

Facebook widget and blocked images
A Wordpress site has a footer widget for facebook with some images, all of which are served within an iframe. The FB CDN robots is blocking the images from being crawled so Webmaster Tools rendering tool is reporting these 8 or so images as blocked. Should I be concerned?

Removing images from site and Image Sitemap SEO advice
Hello again, I have received an update request where they want me to remove images from this site (as of now its a bunch of thumbnails) current page design: http://1stimpressions.com/portfolio/car-wraps/ and turn it into a new design which utilized a slider (such as this): http://1stimpressions.com/portfolio/ They don't want the thumbnails on the page anymore. My question is since my site has a image sitemap that has been indexed will removing all the images hurt my SEO greatly? What would the recommended steps to take to reduce any SEO damage be, if so? Thank you again for your help, always great and very helpful feedback! 🙂 cheers!

Duplicate Content
Hello guys, After fixing the rel tag on similar pages on the site I thought that duplicate content issue were resolved. I checked HTML Improvements on GWT and instead of going down as I expected, it went up. The duplicate issues affect identical product pages which differ from each other just for one detail, let's say length or colour. I could write different meta tags as the duplicate is the meta description, and I did it for some products but still didn't have any effects and they are still showing as duplicates. What would the problem be? Cheers

How can I change the page title "two" (artigos/page/2.html) in each category ?
I have some categories and photo galleries that have more than one page (i.e.: http://www.buffetdomicilio.com/category/artigos and http://www.buffetdomicilio.com/category/artigos/page/2). I think that I must change the tittle and description, but I don't how. I would like to know how can I change the title of each of them without stay with duplicate title and description. Thank you! ahcAORR.jpg

Duplicate Content in Wordpress.com
Hi Mozers! I have a client with a blog on wordpress.com. http://newsfromtshirts.wordpress.com/ It just had a ranking drop because of a new Panda Update, and I know it's a Dupe Content problem. There are 3900 duplicate pages, basically because there is no use of noindex or canonical tag, so archives, categories pages are totally indexed by Google. If I could install my usual SEO plugin, that would be a piece of cake, but since Wordpress.com is a closed environment I can't. How can I put a noindex into all category, archive and author peges in wordpress.com? I think this could be done by writing a nice robot.txt, but I am not sure about the syntax I shoud use to achieve that. Thank you very much, DoMiSol Rossini
