Sudden SERP drop?
-
I'm wondering why my mainpage of my site just disappeared from google while a post from my site ranks at #11 on google.
I currently only have 1 .edu backlink to it and the anchor text is my url site : http://www.domain.c0m
What is the meaning of this? I checked my on page optimization and I got an A. The only problem I saw with my site was keyword stuffing on the homepage because my posts contain the keyword and its listed 26 times on the homepage but that shouldn't be the problem.
-
Wait I thought if people are doing exact search, you don't use quotes?
-
"Except changing up the robots.txt, adding meta descriptions to everything and more...."
Seems like there could be a correlation to your changes and how your site is ranked to me.......... Not knowing exactly what changes were made its tough to say.
Can you provide more info or a link to your site?
-
How long was you ranking for the term before it dropped? week, month, years?
Try putting quotes round the term and see where you rank so "Swimming Fast"
-
Over the last two months all my sites (20) were down yet consistent in traffic.
Then last week I experienced a boost across the board. All separate sites all experiencing a very good increase in traffic.
Now - the last 7 days the drop in traffic has been steady and moving in a downward spiral, and yes, again across the board. What was significant that my anchor store (since 2002) was really dead in the water.
Site 21 (a political blog) with a PR 6 was beginning to show real signs of wear but it's recovering slightly.
Penguin, Panda, or whatever these sites are well monitored, all still very well indexed so maybe its the warm weather, summer fun, boredom but business is down, way down.
-
I know I didn't get slapped because I rank #4 for another keyword similar to it; for example:
my keyword is swimming fast
I still rank #4 for swimmingfast but I am not seen on SERPS for swimming fast.
I am not keyword stuffing though because my posts show up in the home page and several keywords pop up in the snippet portion and I cannot remove it. I can minimize my posts to the page to 1 but then my webpage isn't visually appealing. I haven't done any 'major' changes to my website except changing up the robots.txt, adding meta descriptions to everything and more.
So yes, it was out of the blue =(
-
Was this drop out of the blue or has there been some recent changes? Sometimes when there are significant changes made there are equally drastic changes in SERPs.
I do know that keyword stuffing is BAD and have seen it negatively impact pages on one of my sites in the past. Has this Key Word density always been high?
Not having any more information about your site, I would have to suggest addressing your KeyWord issue at hand and see if that moves things in the right direction for you.
If you can provide more information or a link to your site, I will bet many people will be happy to provide some great insight to your issue.

Google Displaying wrong URL but correct page title and description in SERPS
Hi. Our second highest performing page on Google is messed up in the SERPS. This is our login page. It always ranks high. It still does, but the URL is incorrect. Google is referencing an old redirect that was for a one off campaign from January 2014. This page has long been redirected. But now the vanity url for this page is what is displayed in Google. The link goes to our login page but once you log in it redirects you to a page saying the offer has expired instead of your account details. This is a huge issue for us. Can anyone shed some light? I'm having a rel canonical added since this page is used for a lot of vanity deeplinks.

One page of the site disappeared from serp for a month now
Im working on a clients site and been promoting a specific page to a keyword. started to move up the ranks and exactly a month ago on the 19/5 ( on the same day of the last update) updated the main page im working on with new content and published some other new pages on related subjects that all are linking to the main page im working on ( without the same anchor text in the links ) on the same day i found out that because of a technical error the new content was published on 5 other pages of the site and obviously created a duplicate content issue and i removed all the duplicates on the same day , i assume G caught this thing and punished the site for the duplicate content issue but : when i search the page directly with site:...i can find it. its been a month since i fixed all issues that i thought could impact the page..no duplicate content on the site. no KW stuffing. no spammy links to the page. everything seems fine now my question : why is my page not showing ? how long should i wait before giving up and creating a new page .? how come my site has not lost any organic traffic ( apart from that specific page ) ? is it possible to penalize only one page ? can i recover from this at all ? thanks

Rankings have fallen suddenly - I need a plan of attack.
I started my business a few years ago. Only recently (6 month) I started to get some good traffic and sales. At first I was ranking pretty well 3-5 for my main keywords and business began to pick up. After Penguin I was hit hard and I'm placing 10-17'ish. My Google local/places has disappeared too. I haven't received any contact from Google about unnatural links (but I'm not sure where that would appear? Email? Web Master Tools? Horses head on my pillow?). I've read so many different things online about what I 'could' do. I'm not sure where to start. I've checked and I know we've created lots of questionable back links. Using the Open Site Explorer lots of the backlinks don't have terrible DA but some do. I guess I was hoping someone would give me a checklist or priority list of things to do. It's just me so I need to use my time as best I can. What should I be doing first? Should I be trying to: Remove my bad backlinks? Spend my time making quality backlinks. On-page issues that I can't see? Telling google i'm sorry via web master tools. Changing to new domain (eek) I'm very time poor and hoped the seoMoz community might save me from wasting my time. www.bringyourownlaptop.com.au Keywords: indesign training, web design courses & photoshop courses Thank you in advance. (updated) Huge Drop in Traffic Related to DMCA...?
(update: How would I know if someone has filed a DMCA Takedown Request? There is no message on Webmaster Tools. The reason I ask is because a few months back my client's old SEO threatened him with copyright infringement, and I believe the date of the threatening letter coincides with our drop in traffic. Coincidence?) We've been increasing traffic for a pest control client on a very consistent basis throughout the year. However, in October we noticed a drop but I honestly didn't dig too deeply into the issue. In November we saw another drop...a very large drop...in traffic. Since September, we've lost 50% of search traffic. We've lost specifically branded search traffic, which baffles me. What are some reasons for losing branded search traffic? I've consulted the client and asked if there is anything happening within the business that I should know about, but things seem to pretty normal as far as he can tell. We are also losing rankings dramatically. We've had two locations on Google Places pending for over a month, which I've consulted Google about but, of course, have received no response. The strangest part is that SEOMoz is showing our errors on site have increased dramatically, when we have done nothing new or different over these past few months. It's been business as usual, and yet we are losing traffic, rankings, and errors have gone up. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! http://www.MagicPest.com Thank you!

Why Did Domain Authority On Our 2 Sites Drop 10 Points?
Greetings, I am new to the community and am checking out Pro. The domain authority for two of our sites www.lumber2.com and www.americasworkclothes.com has dropped 10 points each respectively. I've worked on getting our lumber 2 site on registries from getlisted.org (i think there are 5 or 6 of them). Our page authority has improved significantly along with mosrank and moztrust. However, at the same time our domain authorities just tanked 10 points each. Since each site dropped 10 points, I'm wondering if its the ros links affecting them. Here's the domain data: Lumber 2 site: DA 21: 50,489 links from 12 domains
Technical SEO | | AWCthreads
America's Work Clothes: DA 20: 33,839 links from 5 domains We have left nav run of site links between our two sites and have had them in place for a couple of years with steady domain authority progression. Suddenly DA tanked. Is there a chance there is too much run of site linking? I already removed a few links, so you won't see all of them. Can anyone help? Thank you. Steve0 -
SERP Meta Dependant Upon Search Query (strange Google bug?)
Hi, I have on-page optimised a client's website Now take a look at the Title Tag & Meta description of the front page. This is the correct updates I have made - Title: Practice Management and Financial Consultants to the Health Industry
Technical SEO | | LukeyJamo
Description: Award winning Health and Life have been providing accounting, tax and practice management services for Medical, Dental, Allied Health businesses. Now, take a look when the business name is Googled. Notice how the Title Tag switches back to the original, yet the Description Tag is Correct. Now, take a look when the owner's name is Googled. The Title Tag is now correct, but the description is incorrect. Ive set the preferred URL to be the www version Ive spent ages in the custom CMS trying to find what could be causing this The developer says it's a "Google Thing" Anyone have any ideas?0
