Installing rel=publisher
-
Hi,
I want to add rel=publisher to my website. According to Google support I should use the following tag -
Add to homepage - [rel="publisher">Find us on Google+](https://plus.google.com/my page])
A few questions:
- Is this in addition to my social media button linking to my page to direct users there or should it be used instead?
- Where does "find us on Google +" appear on the page - or is this a hidden instruction only meant for Google?
- Could I add the code without the "find us on Google +" so that it would read
- Can this be added anywhere on the homepage (as implied by Google) or should it be on the meta head?
Thanks!

That's totally optional - but if you want actual users to be able to see your Google+ page, then yes it's definitely a good idea to keep the icon. So I'd definitely include both.
One does not require the other, however, in order to implement the rel=publisher code - so if you ever need to remove the icon, you can do so without any problems.

Thanks!
Just to confirm, this is in addition to the social media icon + link visible to users, right?

Hi Sara
The method I've used without fail on a whole host of sites is this:
Make sure you have the URL in the "links" section on the About tab in your Google+ business page.
Once it's there, simply add this bit of code anywhere in the code:
That's all you need to do. Google will verify the code and the Google+ page fairly quickly after that. The code only needs to be present on the homepage for the profile to verify, but you won't be harmed if it appears on all the pages on your site, if you have a bit of code that adds it automatically.
Ensure that the code is in the section of your homepage. Hope this helps!

Is this mistake in use of 'publisher' meta tag
Hi There!, There is a confusion with 'Publisher' meta tag. Instead of using 'Google+ page' we have used Google profile pages in meta 'publisher' tag on most of pages. Currently they all are indexed. Also, in 'Author' meta tag same Google Profile page is linked. E.g. - on page - https://www.sitegeek.com/arvixe , following are the publisher and author tags: <a href="https://plus.google.com/117949772080676863960" rel="<a class="attribute-value">publisher</a>">a> <a href="https://plus.google.com/u/0/102179677098786549874/about" rel="<a class="attribute-value">author</a>"> So I am not sure how much it would effect SEO rankings. Please suggest what would the best way to update it? Further, site has its Google+ page: [https://plus.google.com/+Sitegeekcom/posts ] so it should be updated in 'publisher' tag or we should create a new Google+ page using existing Author Google+ profile. Authorship Implementation - Is it needed to place Rel='Publisher' on every page on eCommerce
Hi, On my eCommerce site I've placed rel='publisher' only on the homepage and rel='author' on all of the article pages. Is that the way to do it? Do I need to add rel='publisher' also on the article pages besides for rel='author'? P.S

Even though I placed rel='publisher' only on the homepage, when I use Google's test tool (http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets) I see my publisher ID also on product category pages (that don't have publisher nor author on them but do have regular +1 buttons). How is that? (bacuase of the +1 button)1 -
Rel=Publisher On Business Blog
Hello! We were just wondering if we can add the Rel=Publisher on our business blog? We would like to have any of our blog posts that rank to have the small thumbnail/logo of our business similar to the way the rel=author tag works in the serps. All posts are published by our business and we would not like any of our personal pictures showing up. Any help greatly appreciated! Thank You!

Rel Publisher Tag is showing in SERPS, with Rel Author Picture
Hi, This is occurring on a few of my pages on a website I manage. Our homepage, which only has the correct rel publisher code to our brand Google+ page, just started this weekend showing with Rel Author rich snippet. Also, a test with Google's rich snippet testing tool shows the correct Brand Page and Logo, not authorship. Only is SERPS does it show incorrectly Has anyone had this happen, and how did you overcome?

Do you still need 1,000 followers for rel=publisher
If I want to add rel=publisher from my Google + page to company website do I still need 1,000 followers or has Google lifted that requirement since launching the feature?

Rel Author
Should I be linking to the author's G+ profile or their Google Places for the rel author tag? It's my understanding that Google Plus profile is different from G Places and hence two different urls. If I'm linking to the profile page of the author and not their Google Places, does this have any negative impact in terms of SEO?

Should you have both google authorship & publisher set up on a website?
I have read that its a good idea to have both rel=author & rel= publisher set up on a website If so What is the best way to set it up to where rel=author and rel=publisher appear in your website source code? I use wordpress genesis site and have the Yoast seo plugin **In the user profile section on WP there is an area to enter google Authorship link **In the Yoast dashboard there is a place to enter google publisher link. When I check my source code…….I see rel=publisher only on the home page, however ALL my other WordPress Pages and Posts have rel=author. Does that sound correct?
