Duplicate Title Tags
-
Webmaster Tools is showing that I have 78 duplicate title tags. Here is an example of tags they deem to be duplicate:
- www.lifeinsure.com/blog/life-insurance-trusts
- www.lifeinsure.com/life-insurance-trusts/
I have done 301 redirects from any posts beginning with "/blog/" to "/" Any idea why this is happening?

because you are using the WordPress SEO plugin it should set the Canonical just check that.
Canonical
When Google introduced the canonical link element, to distinguish the “original” page from derivative pages within your site carrying the same content, they reached out to me to develop a WordPress plugin for it, and I did. Later on, canonical link elements were added to core. They work fine, with one caveat: they only work for single posts and pages, not for categories and tags, not for the homepage. The WordPress SEO plugin fixes that, and sets the correct canonical on each of those pages.
I hope I was of help,
Thomas

Duplicate Content and Subdirectories
Hi there and thank you in advance for your help! I'm seeking guidance on how to structure a resources directory (white papers, webinars, etc.) while avoiding duplicate content penalties. If you go to /resources on our site, there is filter function. If you filter for webinars, the URL becomes /resources/?type=webinar We didn't want that dynamic URL to be the primary URL for webinars, so we created a new page with the URL /resources/webinar that lists all of our webinars and includes a featured webinar up top. However, the same webinar titles now appear on the /resources page and the /resources/webinar page. Will that cause duplicate content issues? P.S. Not sure if it matters, but we also changed the URLs for the individual resource pages to include the resource type. For example, one of our webinar URLs is /resources/webinar/forecasting-your-revenue Thank you!

Do H2 tags carry more weight than h4 tags?
Of course H tags are key signals for relevance in search. Does an h2 tag send a significantly "louder" signal than an h4 tag?

Canoical tags how do i use them
Hi i have this coming up on the report for my url www.in2town.co.uk but i am not sure how to use the canonical tag. I am using joomla and would be grateful if anyone could please give me advice on how to use this. Canonical URL Tag Usage Moderate fix <dl> <dt>Number of Canonical tags</dt> <dd>0</dd> <dt>Explanation</dt> <dd>Although the canonical URL tag is generally thought of as a way to solve duplicate content problems, it can be extremely wise to use it on every (unique) page of a site to help prevent any query strings, session IDs, scraped versions, licensing deals or future developments to potentially create a secondary version and pull link juice or other metrics away from the original. We believe the canonical URL tag is a best practice to help prevent future problems, even if nothing is specifically duplicate/problematic today.</dd> <dt>Recommendation</dt> <dd>Add a canonical URL tag referencing this URL to the header of the page.</dd> <dd>many thanks for your help

I am running multiple wordpress blogs and Seo Moz pro is telling me that i have duplicate title tags on canadiansavers.ca vs http://www.canadiansavers.ca/page/2 I can dynamically add a page 2 to the title but I am correctly using the link rel: next and rel:previous Why is it seen as a duplicate title tag and should i add the page 2, page 3... in the meta title thanks

A week ago I asked how to remove duplicate files and duplicate titles
Three weeks ago we had a very large number of site errors revealed by crawl diagostics. These errors related purely to the presence of both http://domain name and http://www.domain name. We used the rel canonical tag in the head of our index page to direct all to the www. preference, and we have no improvement. Matters got worse two weeks ago and I checked with Google Webmaster and found that Google had somehow lost our preference choice. A week ago I asked how to overcome this problem and received good advice about how to re-enter our preference for the www.tag with Google. This we did and it was accepted. We aso submitted a new sitemap.xml which was also acceptable to Google. Today, a week later we find that we have even more duplicate content (over 10,000 duplicate errors) showing up in the latest diagnostic crawl. Does anyone have any ideas? (Getting a bit desperate.)
