Cross-Site Links with different Country Code Domains

I have a question with the penguin update. I know they are really cracking down on "spam" links. I know that they are wanting you to shift from linking keywords to the brand name, unless it makes sense in a sentence.
We have five sites for one company in the header they have little flag images, that link to different country domains. These domains all have relatively the same domain name besides the country code. My question is, linking these sites back and fourth to each other in this way, does it hurt you in penguin? I know they are wanting you to push your identity but does this cross-site scheme hurt you?
In the header of these sites we have something like this.
I am assuming the best strategy would probably be to treat them like separate entities. Or, just focus on one domain.
They also have some sites that have links in the footer but they are set up like:
For product visit Domain.comShould nofollows be added on these footer links as well? I am not sure if penguin finds them spammy too.

Thanks a ton. I do have one last question, well for know. I am not sure about the etiquette for Moz, so I don't know if I should ask it here. But I will anyway, live and learn.
Let's say I have a site with domain.com and a store on subdomain.domain.com
We want to link the main\subdomain back and fourth. Would this be a valid thing to do in the navigation since the point is to get the customer to the store? Or, do the spiders view subdomains as separate entities? I would rather put the store under a directory but it is hosted by a third party.I have read the following but I don't know the validity, "Each subdomain is considered a separate site for SEO and rankings. But links to within site sub domains are considered as internal links by Google."
I assume if that is true, I have nothing to worry about with concerns of nofollow on those links.

Absolutely. Probably your best bet.
On a sidebar note, try to keep your link count on any domain pages to a maximum of 100. Anything above and beyond that, are not counted on pages and usually the BOT won't follow anyways. The more links on a page, the less value can be attributed to them.
If you want to help the link profile of the site, decide which links could be <nofollow>and place those tags to help with improving the link quality on various pages. This also helps Google with trust as you are not trying to 'game' the linking profile of the site or structure to improve various pages SERP rankings.</nofollow>

I agree with Rob you would be best to place a nofollow on the links between your country level domains. By doing this you get to keep the links and convenience from a users point of view, but you are flagging to Google that you are not trying to pass authority between your sites by interlinking them. Essentially you are waving a flag that says you are not trying to manipulate your rankings by creating your own link network.

So essentially, avoid, and remove, repetitive links that are found across sites in the header\footer\sidebar areas and focus on getting, or placing, fewer links in relative content.

Are you linking these domains just form the main level TLD (homepage), or all the product pages from within each company/country site.
If yes, absolutely! Use <nofollow>on any of the domain/brand or country level TLD's to avoid any kind of penalty. Penguin being as picky as it is, you would want to stay away from any of that to in a 'safe' zone. I would stear clear and use these best practices for interlinking cross country domain sites and products. </nofollow>
Work on building your outside links to the site through content development and social media/mentions, while using the <nofollow>links within the site at the brand and product level. </nofollow>

Should I submit a sitemap for a site with dynamic pages?

Being a coupon website, my content is always keeps changing (as new coupons are added and expired deals are removed) automatically. I wish to create a sitemap but I realised that there is not much point in creating a sitemap for all pages as they will be removed sooner or later and/or are canonical. I have about 8-9 pages which are static and hence I can include them in sitemap. Now the question is.... If I create the sitemap for these 9 pages and submit it to google webmaster, will the google crawlers stop indexing other pages? The use of a ghost site for SEO purposes
Hi Guys, Have just taken on a new client (.co.uk domain) and during our research have identified they also have a .com domain which is a replica of the existing site but all links lead to the .co.uk domain. As a result of this, the .com replica is pushing 5,000,000+ links to the .co.uk site. After speaking to the client, it appears they were approached by a company who said that they could get the .com site ranking for local search queries and then push all that traffic to .co.uk. From analytics we can see that very little referrer traffic is coming from the .com. It sounds remarkably dodgy to us - surely the duplicate site is an issue anyway for obvious reasons, these links could also be deemed as being created for SEO gain? Does anyone have any experience of this as a tactic? Thanks, Dan

Footer links VS Page links - Which one is best?

People buying links to their profiles on my site
As we have a major Penguin update looming in the background, I am looking for expert advice on how to deal with professionals buying into link programs whether they are doing it deliberately or not. Our site provides detailed profile information on hundreds of 1000's of professionals and some professionals apparently believed that buying into link program will lift their profile in the SERPS. About 10 professionals have paid shady link building companies to buy links to their profiles on our site. The biggest offender bought over 1,500 links to his profile. Aside from adding the known toxic links to our disavow file, what else can we do to avoid any link penalties? I can think of three distinct options and would love to hear feedback especially based on actual experience. Option 1. 404 the existing profile - "http://www.anysite.com/jones_smith" and create a new URL "http://www.anysite.com/jones_smith_1". Option 2. Keep the existing URL and fully rely on the disavow file. Contact the professionals and kindly ask them to stop buying links and to contact their link building companies to remove the links. Any other ideas?

Manage two domains with Webmaster tools
Dear all, I want to create an additional domain in order to: Rank better for a very specific keyword with an exact match domain (I already ask about that, but I did not have my ideas clear at the time); Offer to the user usefull infomation about the topic, without duplicating the content I have in my main domain, just additional and very specific information; Use this domain as landing page, offering a tutorial on "how to" use a specific section of my main domain, including a video tutorial; Link to the related section of my main domain. So, the main idea is, if an user type in google "this specific keyword of ours", they will have in the results "thisspecifickeywordofus.es", they will click and go to the site, where they will find unique and specific information, complementing what I have in my mainsite, and showing how to use my site, so trying to use it for conversion. I want to do only white hat SEO, so first at all, I would like to ask you if you think it is a good idea. The keyword is difficult to rank for, and if I can take advantage of this exact match domain (even if it is nowdays no more so big an advantage), would be great.
