What Do You Wish Your CMS Could Do (SEO Wise)?
-
What do you wish your CMS could do SEO-wise. Even if it can be done with a plugin etc, what could be done better? What CMS are you referring to/using?
Very curious as to where folks run into SEO issues with a particular CMS.

the ability my end users have the same feeling as if they had attended a rock concert or whatever type of music they prefer so they are whipped up into a mob mentality not to destroy anything but to simply purchase or convert leads

This without the tragedy
This is how I want leads be when on my site

I thought of another one okay server-side plug-ins so the by deal situation would be just like WordPress however you actually have the ability to add the plug-in without any side effects to your website.
WordPress is awesome for so many reasons, but without the developers working on these fantastic plug-ins, themes, framework and outstanding hosting environments it would fizzle.
if you could implement everything server-side on WordPress you would provide a better and user experience.
A good example of the fantastic infrastructure is zippykid.com if you look at everything that's gone and to making this hosting environment secure and fast you will see most of it is implemented server-side.
this type of ingenuity where you can use a Amazon S3 bucket or rack space cloud files to backup your website instead of having to pay for a plug-in for backup which really has 2 negatives the cost and the fact that you're adding a another plug-in to your site.
If you could create some sort of a platform or way to utilize WordPress plug-ins in the same method that I have described above you would really have something
another make sure it has true enterprise grade security thing is no matter what you build I'm talking the same type of security that comes with a firehost.com account add onto that the safety net and hacking alert/ de-hacking system that http://sucuri.net/ offers similar to what WooCommerce has done.
the ease of use Hubspot offers with WordPress open platform abilities check out the free trial of HubSpot's CMS
http://www.hubspot.com/products
I hope you understand where going with this and I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor to create a better content management system or add better features to an already existing one improve upon
Sincerely,
Thomas

excellent Thomas, thanks for the feedback..

Honestly built-in support for video site maps would be awesome if you can pull that off without a plug-in and it would have to be of the same quality of Yoast
basically everything Yoast makes plug-ins for if you could actually build that in to a CMS at the same quality he has made them that would be spectacular.
Some way for my website to have only one request and be able to hold ridiculously large images however I don't want the size to be over 1K but the entire website.
While I'm on it throw in everything copy blogger makes as well and I don't want to have to deal with those as plug-ins either I just want them to be built in.
Analytics I want 100% server-side I don't want slowing down my website or any code at all however I want the best of both worlds I want true Lee fantastic analytics like the type kiss metrics makes built-in.
And a cheeseburger with french fries please.
Thank you,
Thomas

Well that is one I hadn't thought of, but great idea!

I wish our CMS would make siren sounds, flash the lights and throw a pie in the face of every person (or thing) who initiates anything that will cause us duplicate content issues. Maybe then they would stop!

Community Discussion: The hardest (& most surprisingly valuable) thing you've gone through for your SEO career?
In the comment discussion for Thursday's blog post, An Essential Training Task List for Junior SEOs, there's been mild debate around some of the items, such as having a Junior SEO build a website by hand. It's a fantastic comment discussion (the kind that makes a blog manager's heart sing), and it's got me thinking. We've all gone through the wringer when it comes to boosting our careers. Heck, I was a poetry major and found myself learning SQL last week. What hurdles have you jumped that have been painful and challenging, but have taken your career to the finish line? Maybe even gotten you the gold?* What would you recommend to newbies just starting out (or warn them about)? *Yeah, I got Olympic about it. I went there. 🙂

Weebly vs Wordpress for SEO?
Hi Mozzers, Wordpress has become a pain in the butt as far as plugins slowing down site speed and snippets of codes breaking here and there. My goal is to decrease the constant maintenance that needs to be done on Wordpress. I am curious what do you guys think of Weebly as an "SEO platform" vs wordpress? I only hear good things about Wordpress for SEOs but what about Weebly? Please share your thoughts and why one or the other is better for SEO purposes? P.S: if you have any experience with Weebly, feel free to let me know how did that go for you and if you were satisfied with it. Thanks!

Best SEO way to implement multi language store
Hi, I have a magento 1.7 multilanguage store with the following structure: www.example.com/nl and www.example.com (Dutch) www.example.com/uk (English) www.example.com/de (German) As you can see the dutch language basically has two url and this gives problems according to Roger. Both urls show the same page and therefor duplicate content. Should i 301 www.example.com to www.example.com/nl ?

And would this not cause problems with the indexing because www.example.com is shown when searching for my keywords. I need to have all three languages to be indexed good and used only for the correct countries.0 -
Does Penguin Help Negative SEO?
With negative link targeting seeming to become more and more of a ‘standard practice’ for more and more agencies and freelance SEOs (I, for one, have had to use the disavow tool far more than I ever thought I would) and the fact that there are more “link building services” that really only build ‘crap’ links than there were when that type of link building worked, I am honestly a bit afraid that Google is really just pushing SEO’s to the ‘dark side’ or at least handing black hat link builders a great tool for bringing down the competition. I had one SEO actually say to me “If my client can’t recover than at least I can target everyone that jumped ahead of them and only spend around $300 on bad link building”. This came from someone I NEVER thought would say anything of the sort and really got me to thinking’ “will this be the future of SEO?” I know the answer is no but still, it seems more and more people are just throwing their hands up and targeting competition rather than working on their own websites and with updates like Penguin I am afraid that more of my time will be spent disavowing links than building them.

Anyone used an SEO company they are happy with and would recommend to others?
I have been researching SEO companies. Some are not willing to provide references, while others have references with lukewarm recommendations. Any e-commerce owners/managers here that have used an SEO company that they would recommend? I am about to give up and stick to doing it in-house!

SEO Agency Sabotage?
Here's a strange one ... We have a customer that has done remarkably well with organic SEO for the better part of 8 years. We've made them tons of money with our SEO techniques. About a year ago they started to get calls from a certain SEO firm warning that they were losing landing pages and keywords by the hundreds each month. Revenue continued to rise so they did not think much of it. Either did we. My customer finally relented and hired them for some limited SEO activites in Jan/Feb of this year - unbeknownst to me. The "other company" assembled some stats to demonstrate the drop in organic rankings, landing pages, keywords, and traffic going back about year. This data was matched to correlate with variuos Google updates and designed to scare the customer. Long story short and my question - has anyone ever heard of an SEO company sabotaging a potential customer so they would hire them? We ran analysis and turns out our customer actually gained landing pages and keywords while this company was calling on them and claiming impending doom. Turns out, since my customer brought them on, the numbers have gone way south. Now, we look like the incompetent boobs and they will likely "fix something" to look like rock stars. They claimed that the Penguin update is what killed the site, but the slippage started before Penguin, huh? It would make sense to call on a prospect for a while, warn of bad stuff about to happen, make something bad happen and then say, "I told you so, hire me". Has anyone ever hear of this? If so, any particular tactic I should look for?

How many total independent SEO professionals are there in the US?
I'm looking for two pieces of data: 1. How many total independent/freelance SEO professionals are there in the US? That is, SEO pros who work directly with their own clients. 2. How many SEO firms are there in the US? I've been scouring all over looking for this data and can't find it. Any help would be much appreciated.
