How to fix overly dynamic URLs for Volusion site?
-
We're currently getting over 5439 pages with an 'overly dynamic URL' warning in our Moz scan. The site is run on Volusion. Is there a way to fix this seeming Volusion error?
-
Hi Robert, as this original question is quite old and not marked answered, would you mind opening a new one? This will give the question more exposure. I'll keep my eye out for it. Thanks!

same issue. its strange because the link reflects an existing page with search info in the url.
the normal page url is http://www.bestfitbybrazil.com/NEW-ARRIVALS-s/1931.htm
the OVERLY DYNAMIC URL IS http://www.bestfitbybrazil.com/NEW-ARRIVALS-s/1931.htm?searching=Y&sort=4&cat=1931&show=300&page=1
Do i need to block this in robot txt file or is there some way to eliminate this OVERLY DYNAMIC URL?
-
Hi Brandon, did you find a fix?
-
Sorry Brandon. I've not run a scan such as this.
Can you post a url that is overly dynamic? Or pm me one?
-
It's the standard Moz Campaign scan. Here's the warning overview in the report:http://screencast.com/t/MubEhu17Ovy

Hi Brandon.
We have a Volusion site and I've used moz tools on it. What scan did you run?
I'm not familiar with the "overly dynamic URL" warning. Can you post or pm a url getting this error?

Why did Moz crawl our development site?
In our Moz Pro account we have one campaign set up to track our main domain. This week Moz threw up around 400 new crawl errors, 99% of which were meta noindex issues. What happened was that somehow Moz found the development/staging site and decided to crawl that. I have no idea how it was able to do this - the robots.txt is set to disallow all and there is password protection on the site. It looks like Moz ignored the robots.txt, but I still don't have any idea how it was able to do a crawl - it should have received a 401 Forbidden and not gone any further. How do I a) clean this up without going through and manually ignoring each issue, and b) stop this from happening again? Thanks!

Low KDS but high DA for all page 1 sites
Hi there A KDS report question... My client has a keyword with a low KDS (garden hose - 28). Intuitively this seemed too low, and when I checked what ranks, it is all high quality brand sites with high DAs. Admittedly the specific pages ranking have low PAs, but I can't see my client ever being able to compete with these big boys right now. How come the KDS is so low? This seems just wrong as the metric implies it is a good keyword to target - I know there are always lots of other things to check, but this does make me less confident with KDS reporting Anyone got any thoughts on this? Many thanks

Web Site Migration Testing and SEO-QA Automation?
Hey Mozzers, Are there any good Migration-SEO-QA Tools out there? Given a prioritized list of URLs and prioritized list of Keywords, is there a tool that can compare basic SEO factors, old URL vs. new URL, and identify all the specific gaps that need to be fixed? Here is a basic SEO-QA acceptance checklist, for porting any website. . . . Until the porting work is completed we cannot accept the new website. Givens: 1. A list of the Top 100 URLs from the old site, prioritized by conversion rates, landing page traffic, and inbound links. 2. A list of the planned 404 - mapped URLs, old to new site, from the porting team. 3. A list of the current Top 200 Keywords, prioritized. 4. A good amount of SEO work has already been done, by several professionals, for the current (old) site. **How to evaluate if the new site will be acceptable to Google? Check ON-PAGE SEO Factors... ** **. . . that is, the NEW site must be AS GOOD AS (or better than) the current (old) site,

in the eyes of Google, to preserve the On-Page SEO work already done. ** Criteria: URLs ok? :: Is the URL mapping ok, old to new, best web page? LINKS ok :: Are all internal LINKS and keyword Anchor Text ported? TEXT ok :: On-page content, TEXT and keywords ok? TITLE ok :: HTML Title and title keywords ok? DESCRIPTION ok :: HTML Meta Description ok? H1, H2 ok :: HTML H1, H2 and keywords ok? IMG kwds :: HTML IMG and ALT keywords ok? URL kwds :: URL - keywords in new URLs ok? Potential porting defects: Keywords in URL missing: Keywords in HTML Title missing: Keywords in Meta Description missing: Any internal LINKS or Link anchor text missing: Keywords in Page TEXT missing: H1, H2 missing keywords: HTML IMG alt-text, IMG file URLs, any missing keywords: Notes: Until the porting work is completed we cannot accept the new site, or set a target date for potential cutover. There are eight (8) data items per URL, and about one hundred (100) URLs to be considered for SEO-QA before going live. We were expecting to cutover before the end of February, at the latest. There is no point in doing full QA acceptance-tests until the porting work is completed. QA spot-checks have found far too many defects. About 60% of the landing-page traffic comes via the top 40 URLs. With over 100 URLs to look at, it can take more than a week or two just to do SEO-QA in detail, manually, item-by-item, page-by-page, side-by-side, old vs. new. Spot-checks indicate a business disaster would occur unless the porting defects are fixed before going live. _Any Migration-QA Tools?_Given a prioritized list of URLs and prioritized list of Keywords, is there a tool that can compare basic On-Page SEO factors, old URL vs. new URL, and identify most of the specific gaps that need to be fixed before going live with the new site? _ *** Edit: Any comments on the SEO criteria, tools, or methods will be appreciated!_0 -

Open Site Explorer Backlink Numbers Wrong?
So, I have a new site that we are currently building links for, lots of hard work. Anyway, I was a bit shocked when I viewed my site through Open Site Explorer and found only 4 backlinks!!!!! Alexa.com, Majestic, and Google Webmaster Tools don't show the exact same numbers, but their figures are all MUCH higher, 4 to 566 for example. What gives Site is www.powerequipmentplus.com for those who want to look themselves. Thanks for your time and concern.
