Domain Authority Droped 4 Points
-
Hi there,
After the Last Mozscape index update: 08/27/2013Our DA along with all our competitors DA has dropped 4 points, Is there any reason for this ?Have others seen the same thing?
Any suggestions of building DA again fast ? The owner of the company gets the reports from Moz and it really doesn't look good. Is it expected to bounce back ?
We we started our SEO efforts the DA was at 28 ... then after a few developments it went up to 34 then dropped to 30 for no apprent reason, and now its down to 26 .. How do we stop this downhill slide ? -
One of our sites dropped 3 points for DA at the last Mozscape index so you are not alone. And this occurred at at time when our search traffic has been growing considerably and we are performing better for the majority of our keywords than we have for some time. For this reason I'm not unduly worried and considering it just to be a fluctuation which will probably improve in due course.
In fact, having looked at our competitors which I've been tracking for comparison, I've also seen that all of them have also experienced a similar fall in this latest index update.

It might be worthwhile seeing whether your competitors' sites have devalued too. Our site dropped four points in the last index - but then so did our competitors. I think the drop is likely to be across the board on this new Moz index - not just your site.

These types of reports, whether it's the Moz DA, Majestic SEO link report, or even ranking reports, are tricky. They tend to fluctuate quite a bit. I'd recommend trying to get the client off of focusing on these types of reports and get them focused on either traffic to the site or (ideally) conversions. These other reports are really just tools. They are indicators to help you do your work. After all, would the client be happy if you got them a DA increase of 30 points if at the same time their conversions dropped by 50%?

We trying but getting new links at a really really slow rate, hopefully with our you-tube videos and more content showing up on more sites it will help.
Traffic seems to be taking a small drop but not allot, the main issue is since the campaign started we have devoted loads of resources, content, link building ect.. but now all of a sudden the DA is at an all time low..How do you tell if you're doing something wrong ? traffic is growing kinda but at a snails pace.

hiya,
We've also seen a drop (with a small drop in rankings on our clients site) still looking into it. Thought you would like to know you're not alone. Sorry can't help you with the why as we are still looking into it but confident it will bounce back. (this was also along side a link building campaign too!)

are your rankings dropping because of this? I normally wouldnt bother with monitoring my DA. Are you still building links to your site?

Confused - SEOMoz Reporting On Different Domains?
I wasn't sure which report to set up on my domain, so I set up 2 different ones which now appear like this in the Dashboard under the Campaigns section: *mysite.com www.mysite.com I want to delete the wrong report, but I noticed that they produce two slightly different report results which is interesting. My domain does not have any subdomains - which report should I delete?

Is there a way to get the domain authority of a subdomain?
For example, www.storage-mart.com and us.storage-mart.com both show the same DA in OSE. I believe it's the DA of the root domain. How can I compare the DA of the 'www' and 'us' subdomains?

Impact of 301-redirected domains on OSE Metrics
When looking at the OSE metrics (DA, PA, Number Linking RDs etc.) is it purely based on OSEs evaluation of the specific domain or will it take into account links that have been 301-redirected to the domain?

When to stop link building because page authority is low - open site explorer
Hi, I'm link building with Open Site Explorer. I'm really picky in get links from only high quality sites. When do you stop going down the list of possible backlink providers because the page authority is too low. I usually stop at 40, but what do you do, why, and what does it depend on?

Has SEOMoz Domain Authority calc been updated recently
As ever, my apologies if this question's been asked before -- I searched for it, and didn't find it. But, our SEOMoz 'Domain Authority' has recently really jumped (from 67, where it was for many months, to 77). And, our number of Linking Root Domains increased as well, from 1,986 to 3,349) Of course, none of this has translated into Google goodness, but if any of it's true, maybe it WILL in the future? Any thoughts/ideas? Thanks, Dave (www.TeachStreet.com)

How best to gain Followed Linking Root Domains?
Hi All, Sorry if this question has been asked before. I've had a look through the Q&A sections and I couldn't really see anyone who'd asked the question as direct as this? Basically, I'm using the SEOMoz competitive domain analysis to compare some of our domains and our competitors domains and see where we're falling down. At the minute, we seem to be only scoring around '31', whereas our two closest competitors as 32 and 33 on the overall score. This still seems pretty low to me (maybe it's not) so I'm assuming we can make some good headway. At the minute, the analysis shows that we're beating our competitors hands down with the number of links to our site, these are all relatively good quality and they haven't just been spammed out there to gain links. We are however struggling to get followed linking root domains. As I understand it, these are basically just links from domains not on the same IP that are followed? Since I've seen this, I've looked through the open site explorer and gone through all of our competitors sites to get backlinks from URL's linking to them. I've had fairly good success with this but they only seem to have gone up by 1 - 2 links. Does this only get updated once a month? In addition to this, does anyone have any tips on how to build up followed linking domains? Kind Regards
