Local Keyowrds Search?

Is there any way to search for best local keywords for my local salon business, in NSW (Australia)
I tried searching for keywords using Google adwords keywords tool by selecting country as Australia but again there is no way to find keywords for a specific area or few cities in NSW

I apologize that your important question didn't receive a speedier response from me. For some reason, our system failed to notify me. So sorry about that.
Your question is an excellent one, and one that has come up many times over the years since the dawn of Local. Basically, there is no keyword tool from which you can get reliable geo data. Even if you are in a major metro city (like New York City) and tools show you some data reflecting use of your city name in searches, that data is not really reliable.
Because of this, I (and just about every other Local SEO I know) follow this method in performing research.

Brainstorm your core terms and plug them into your keyword tool of choice, without any geo terms. So, for you, that might be terms like hair salon, spa, salon, makeovers or whatever it is that your business offers.

Open a spreadsheet and document the findings of your keyword research, based on what data you've been given about your brainstormed terms as well as any others that the tool shows you that you may not have thought of on your own. Very often, people search for things in surprising ways you might not have previously considered.

Now, go back and add in your geo terms. These would include city names, county names, regional names, state names, neighborhood names and postal codes.

For every service/product term, you now have geo terms with which to pair it. So, if you've got a hair salon in Bathurst, one section of your spreadsheet might be:
haircuts bathurst
haircuts bathurst, NSW
haircuts in bathrust
cheapest haircuts in bathurst
best haircuts in bathurst
haircuts postal code
etc.
So, essentially, do your KW research without geo terms and then add them back in, based on your locale. As of this moment, there is no accepted better method. Good luck!

I don’t think there is any specific tool for local keyword search but you can always go with Google keyword tool, Google Insight and more to have a little idea of it…Word Tracker and Free keyword discovery are also a good place to start!
But personally to find the REAL actionable keywords I would suggest you to invest a little on PPC and test all local keywords for a week or two to find out the list of keywords that will produce you traffic as well as conversions…

Although not perfect, the best way to find localised keyword usage is combing the data from the keywords tool with Google Trends.
For example, if you find the search volume for 'beauty salon', you can then see how this volume is divided across the subregions and cities across Australia. Here is an example:
http://www.google.com/trends/?q=beauty+salon&ctab=0&geo=au&geor=all&date=2012&sort=0
Sadly this data isn't too specific, but it's a great way of getting an indication of what Cities the search demand is coming from.
Another way is to lookup keyword + location in the Google keyword tool. So rather that search for 'beauty salon' you can search for 'beauty salon Melbourne' 'beauty salon Perth' etc
Again, this will give you a strong indication of how the main 'beauty salon' search volume is divided across the country.
The only real way of getting the cast iron data, with no interpretation required, is to actually run some test campaigns through AdWords and see the impressions data for each region. This will give you the exact information, but will also mean you'll have to dip your hand in your pocket (which can get expensive dependant on how many regions/Cities you want to cover)

Why does moz give different page authority to the same page if a visit comes from adwords vs organic search?
When clicking on an adwords ad the page the landing page has a page authority of 26. When clicking on organic search to the same exact landing page the page authority is 37. Why is this. Does moz or, more importantly Google see these as the same or separate pages? Thanks Tom

Can a search query return more than one SERP feature for a single keyword?
In Moz's 'SERP Features' section within campaigns, it shows each of my tracked keywords as being eligible for multiple SERP features - sometimes as many as 5 or 6. Does this mean that Google could display a few different rich snippets for these keywords, or just that it could return one of those highlighted?

Is Search Visibility actually weighted by search volume at all? Everyone seems to think so, but that seems completely wrong?
As I've been exploring Moz more, I've been looking into search visibility and what it actually represents. While searching for answers on Moz, I've seen several posts that all seem to think the search volume for keywords matters at all for the search visibility metric, and I'm wondering why anyone thinks that, when everything from Moz seems to indicate otherwise. https://moz.com/help/guides/moz-pro-overview/rankings/search-visibility describes the calculation as taking the CTR for each keyword, based on rank, summing those, and dividing by the number of keywords. This describes a simple, and completely unweighted by search volume, average. This means that if you are tracking 10 keywords, and rank #1 on 5 that have a search volume of 0-10, and are unranked on 5 that have a search volume of 70,801-118,000, that would generate exactly the same search visibility score as if you rank #1 on the 5 high volume, and are unranked on the 5 low volume. The above all makes search visibility look like a much less valuable metric than if it were appropriately weighted by volume, as well as potentially very misleading, since the % relates solely to the number of keywords in your analyzed segment, rather than to the % of search volume that you're obtaining (unless a) all of your keywords are the same rank, or b) all of your keywords have the same volume). Am I missing something, or is everyone just giving Moz way too much credit when it comes to the value of the search visibility metric?

GWMT / Search Analytics VS OpenSiteExplorer
Just had the experience of using OSE data to show what we call "linkrot" to a client -- only to find that GWMT / Search Analytics shows no such thing. Fortunately the client is an old friend and no face was lost, but it was dicey there for a bit as I have come to rely on and reference OSE again and again and again, OSE showed Domain Authority dropping by about 1/3 in the last 12 months, presumably due to old links getting broken, linking sites changing their architecture etc. And of course, ranking is tanking, as you would expect. But Google shows many more (and much more spammy looking!) backlinks. Has anyone had any experience benchmarking the 2 data sets of backlinks against each other? Dr Pete?

My index URL was removed from Google, but all others remain in the search engines
HI All, My site was ranking very well and was in 1st page of google for most of my keywords. Couple of weeks back we did some update to the site and moved it to new hosting and from then onwards I dont see my site home page in Google ranking . My Website Name is : royalevents.com.au. It used to be in 1st of Google for keywords like wedding Mandaps, Indian Wedding Mandaps etc, Would be great if some one helps us to figure out whats gone wrong .. I also did Webmaster Fetch as Google but nothing happened. Thanks

Need help understanding search filter URL's and meta tags
Good afternoon Mozzers, One of our clients is a real estate agent and on that site there is a search field that will allow a person to search by filtered categories. Currently, the URL structure makes a new URL for each filter option and in my Moz reports I get the report that there is missing meta data. However, the page is the same the filter options are different so I am at a loss as to how to proper tag our site to optimize those URL's. Can I rel canonical the URL's or alt rel them? I have been looking for a solution for a few days now and like I said I am at a loss of how to properly resolve these warning messages, or if I should even be concerned with the warning messages from Moz (obviously I should be concerned, they are warning messages for a reason). Thank you for your assistance in advance!

What is the correlation between the SEOMOZ PR number and where my site is showing up in an organic search?
For years, our company placed 3 or 4 in an organic search on Google for the keyword I am inquiring about. A couple of months ago, we went down to number 15. I then subscribed to SEOMOZ and began a concerted effort to improve our ranking for this keyword. Slowly, our listing came up higher in searches and on our reports- back onto the first page #8. Our weekly SEOMOZ reports reflected this improvement, but then it dropped down again to page 2, #11. My most recent report, this week, gave us a PR 8 for this keyword, but our listing is showing upon page 2, #11. I do have my personal search and browser history disabled. I am unclear as to why there is this discrepancy.

How to rank each page correctly in the search engines
Hello everyone, I am new to SEOmoz and SEO in general. I am trying to wrap my head around everything and one of the issues I am having trouble grasping is how each individual page on our website plays into ranking for certain keywords. I will explain in more detail below: 1.) We are not a blog, we have a pretty static website. 2.) We can add as many pages to our website as needed (for SEO purposes) 3.) Our site is fairly small, about 25 pages on the website. Now with that information above, here are our main questions & concerns: 1.) What is the best way to rank in the search engines for 50 of our best converting keywords with only 25 pages on our website? 2.) We have 2-3 competitors that rank in positions 1-3 for about 30 of our keywords we are trying to rank for. But no matter what you type in, for example, "cars" "buy cars" "buy a car online" "truck prices" etc, the results that the search engines display our their homepages. Not the other pages on their websites that actually rank for each one of those individual keywords. Is this normal? That is something that we would like for our rankings to do if we have any control over it. 3.) Should each page try to rank for a unique individual keyword? For example, when using the SEOmoz On-page Optimization tool, should I try ranking 2 pages for "buy cars online" or just 1 page? Say my homepage has an "A" grade for the keyword, "buy cars online" but so does my second page on my website. Are these pages essentially competing with each other? Or will the search engines pick their favorite page and display the one they like the best? Any help is greatly appreciated and I look forward to getting this cleared up. Thanks
