Main page - catogory and sub-catogories
-
This is a complex one for me but here goes.
my site sales personalized widgets and this is the main keyword.
other keyword that convert are
- gold personalized widgets
- silver personalized widgets
- brass personalized widgets
- and many others.
all those keywords are categories including the main keyword. (each category is a page on my site optimized for that category)
(If you did not guess already I sale jewelry.
I assume that having the keyword included in links pointing to intenal category pages dilute the importance of this keyword on the main page?
there are few options I consider.
- for testing have the gold, silver and others to include canonical to the main page just to test the affect on the main keyword.
- Not pointing from the main page to those sub-category pages - it feels wrong to me
- just canonize the main keyword category page to point to the main page
Would love o hear what are our thoughts
-
I thought you were saying you used that keyword to much. If you think your using it the right amount with the link there, by all means use it.

thanks for replying
I would like to try and get more opinion on the second part of your answer "As far as internal linking, just make sure the anchor text doesn't say the exact same thing. For an example make the anchor text be Gold, the text afterword can say personalized widgets"
doing that might hurt my ranking on the term "gold personalized widgets"?

If it was 5 or more in one subcategory section I'd say you might have to do something but any less then 5 and you should be okay as far as lowering your keyword importance.
As far as internal linking, just make sure the anchor text doesn't say the exact same thing. For an example make the anchor text be Gold, the text afterword can say personalized widgets but make the anchor text different. It doesn't have to be exactly that either.

When creating a sub-domain, does that sub-domain automatically start with the DA of the main domain?
We have a website with a high DA and we are considering sub-folder or sub-domain. One of the great benefits of a sub-folder is that we know we get to keep the high DA, is this also the case for sub-domains? Also if you could provide any sources of information that specify this, I can't see to find anything!

Home page vs inner page?
do you believe that the advantage of targeting a search term on the home page is now worse off than before? as I understand it ctr is a big factor now And as far as i can see if two pages are equal on page etc the better ctr will win out, the issue with the home page is the serp stars cannot be used hence the ctr on a product page will be higher? I feel if you where able to get a home page up quicker (1 year instead of two) you still lost out in the end due to the product page winning on ctr? do you think this is correct?

What is the impact of an off-topic page to other pages on the site?
We are working with a client who has one irrelevant, off-topic post ranking incredibly well and driving a lot of traffic. However, none of the other pages on the site, that are relevant to this client's business, are ranking. Links are good and in-line with competitors for the various terms. Oddly, very few external links reference this off-topic post, most are to the home page. Local profile is also in-line with competitors, including reviews, categorization, geo-targeting, pictures, etc. No spam issues exist and no warnings in Google Search Console. The only thing that seems weird is this off-topic post but that could affect rankings on other pages of the site? Would removing that off-topic post potentially help increase traffic and rankings for the other more relevant pages of the site? Appreciate any and all help or ideas of where to go from here. Thanks!

Would it work to place H1 (or important page keywords) at the top of your page in HTML and move lower on page with CSS?
I understand that the H1 tag is no longer heavily correlated with stronger ranking signals but it is more important that Keywords or keyphrases are at the top of a page. My question is, if I just put my important keyword (or H1) toward the top of my page in the HTML and move it towards the middle/lower portion with css position elements, will this still be viewed by Googlebot as important keywords toward the top of my page? Orphan My Home Page
I want to orphan a home page on a site that I own so that the start page becomes site.com/home (or whatever) as opposed to site.com/. I need to accomplish this without associating the former with the latter...meaning no 301. Since this will not be a temporary move, 302 does not seem to work either. And even if I could use it, I don't want to credit / with anything from /home. Is there any way to default the Apache handler to /home without rewriting the URL? Or is there any other solution? The bottom line is, at the end of the day, I need Google to forget about / and anything associated with it, without interrupting the user experience when they request /. Thanks in advance.

Rel=Canonical to Longer Page?
We've got a series of articles on the same topic and we consolidated the content and pasted it altogether on a single page. We linked from each individual article to the consolidated page. We put a noindex on the consolidated page. The problem: Inbound links to individual articles in the series will only count toward the authority of those individual pages, and inbound links to the full article will be worthless. I am considering removing the noindex from the consolidated article and putting rel=canonicals on each individual post pointing to the consolidated article. That should consolidate the PageRank. But I am concerned about pointing****a rel=canonical to an article that is not an exact duplicate (although it does contain the full text of the original--it's just that it contains quite a bit of additional text). An alternative would be not to use rel=canonicals, nor to place a noindex on the consolidated article. But then my concern would be duplicate content and unconsolidated PageRank. Any thoughts?

SEOMOZ crawl all my pages
SEOMOZ crawl all my pages including ".do" (all web pages after sign up ) . Coz of this it finishes all my 10.000 crawl page quota and be exposed to dublicate pages. Google is not crawling pages that user reach after sign up. Because these are private pages for customers I guess The main question is how we can limit SEOMOZ crawl bot. If the bot can stay out of ".do" java extensions it'll perfect to starting SEO analysis. Do you know think about it? Cheers Example; .do java extension (after sign up page) (Google can't crawl) http://magaza.turkcell.com.tr/showProductDetail.do?psi=1001694&shopCategoryId=1000021&model=Apple-iPhone-3GS-8GB Normal Page (Google can crawl) http://magaza.turkcell.com.tr/telefon/Apple-iPhone-3GS-8GB/1001694/.html

Rich snippet on main index page
Hello, I am using a 3rd party company to generate reviews for my website. I want to optimize my site for the index page to see a star rating in the SERP. I am pulling the the count of the number of reviews and the average rating from my review partner and rendering this on the page. It is not visible to a visitor to the site. My page has been marked up correctly as you can see using the rich snippet testing tool http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jsshirts.com.au However the stars are not showing in SERP's. Does anyone have any ideas as to why the stars are not showing. Many thanks, Jason
