Google Hummingbird Update - Any Changes ?
-
Google has update with the new alogrithm and did you see any effects and as they are not revelaing the techinicaly how they work ?
What's your opinion ?

Good article. Thanks for posting
I need to read some more on it.
I wondered how the refinement might influence the Title content.
I don't typically include "buy" in the title but I've got to look at our serps and re-think this.
-
phew I haven't been effected however Chris has posted some interesting results showing the hummingbird impact on search results.
-
Sorry... I thought that you were telling me off lol!
I'm glad that I have answered your question.
-
I'm curious if/how this will affect how many keywords to put in the title tag (for ecommerce - catetories and product names/titles).
If its related primarily to conversational search it sounds like something I won't be sweating.

Sorry, I'm not following you here.
I replied to the initial question:
"Google has update with the new alogrithm and did you see any effects and as they are not revelaing the techinicaly how they work ?
What's your opinion ?"
At least that's what I thought I was doing, but I am new to Moz, so could be wrong!
-
You answered my question so it didn't seem dated to me.
-
Sorry AWCthreads, I didn't realise that you had already covered that... Unfortunately I didn't see your post at the time of writing and I wouldn't want folks thinking I just copied you lol.
I started writing my post about an hour ago and got distracted before coming back to it.

Related to conversational search. Good to know.
Thanks David.

Although a lot of SEOs and Marketers are only hearing about Hummingbird for the first time this week, it has been running as the new "Engine" for around a month or so.
Google’s saying there’s nothing for SEOs or publishers worry about as there's no need for us to change what we're doing. Given that there hasn't been a marked shift in rankings over the last month (certainly not on the same scale as with Penguin, Panda or Caffeine updates were rolled out anyway), it's suggested that Hummingbird isn't something to fear.
From what I can gather, it is an added level of intelligence which has been plugged into Google Search in order to improve long tail search results and results for Conversational Search.
Anyway, I hope that my reply is helpful!

Two primary areas of focus for Hummingbird:
1. Better results for longer tail keyword inquiries
2. Voice command results
The public is becoming more seasoned at search as the years go by so they are comfortable adding more terms to their search.
IMO, social has also helped educate internet users for specificity: @xyz or .com/xyz etc. We're actually telling people what to enter after a hash-tag. Unthinkable a few years ago.
I'm curious if/how this will affect how many keywords to put in the title tag (for ecommerce - catetories and product names/titles).
-
Yes, they rolled it out a month ago. http://searchengineland.com/google-hummingbird-172816
I think the consensus is nothing much has changed on our end. That's certainly what I'm seeing.
This is more of a their-end overhaul from what I understand.

Have they rolled our the new algo?

Content update on 24hr schedule
Hello! I have a website with over 1300 landings pages for specific products. These individual pages update on a 24hr cycle through out API. Our API pulls reviews/ratings from other sources and then writes/updates that content onto the page. Is that 'bad"? Can that be viewed as spammy or dangerous in the eyes of google? (My first thought is no, its fine) Is there such a thing as "too much content". For example if we are adding roughly 20 articles to our site a week, is that ok? (I know news websites add much more than that on a daily basis but I just figured I would ask) On that note, would it be better to stagger our posting? For example 20 articles each week for a total of 80 articles, or 80 articles once a month? (I feel like trickle posting is probably preferable but I figured I would ask.) Is there any negatives to the process of an API writing/updating content? Should we have 800+ words of static content on each page? Thank you all mozzers!

Google does not want to index my page
I have a site that is hundreds of page indexed on Google. But there is a page that I put in the footer section that Google seems does not like and are not indexing that page. I've tried submitting it to their index through google webmaster and it will appear on Google index but then after a few days it's gone again. Before that page had canonical meta to another page, but it is removed now.

Does Google hate wordpress?
I have my categories pages set to noindex, follow. I deactivated the author and date based archives, and all the /page/2 /page/3 are noindex. Is this the right approach? I had thought about adding some text to the topic of each category page and then changing them to index. I'm using showing recent post excerpts on the homepage. Another other suggestions? I think two of my sites are in panda for no good reason. It seems like non-wordpress blogs in my industry do better than comparable wordpress sites.

Google Places in the UK, No Postcard
I've been trying to register a business on Google Places now for a few months. As part of the verification process, Google send a postcard to your business address so that you can enter the pin online and verify your address. They also say that it takes up to 3 weeks, however this is now the 3rd time I've requested a pin and none have turned up so far. The latest one was requested well over 3 weeks ago. Has anyone else had problems getting a local results postcard? It's driving me nuts!
