How does an index page have a higher Authority than the root domain?
-
So just curious, but on my domain, http://www.bulwarkpestcontrol.com the Page Authority is 59 and the root domain authority 52. That seems odd as it is the same page. Explanation?
-
DA and PA are modeled somewhat independently, if memory serves, and they aren't scaled against each other (only other metrics of their kind), so it is possible for you to have a DA that's lower than your PA. Typically, that would mean that the majority of your strength is rooted in the home-page, as Martijn said. Unless there's a big discrepancy, it's generally not any cause for alarm.
-
Root Domain Authority doesn't exist, it's Domain Authority that shows the overall authority of your domain.
-
So the root domain authority is an average of the domain? Isn't Root Domain just the Root of the domain, not the entire domain?
-
Only if all the links go the root domain otherwise it's wasting your incoming links on /index.
-
If you have a /index page, I assume it would be beneficial to 301 redirect this to the root domain?
-
Hi Thomas,
It seems odd but it's quite normal. For almost all sites the most links to the root domain will be to the homepage/ index. That's why this page on average out performs the average pages of your site. That's why your PA is higher than the DA.
Hope this helps!

MozBar: Page Title (and other data) inconsistent with HTML
In using the MozBar Chrome extension, I have noticed that the data about a page that MozBar displays is sometimes inconsistent with the "head" tag in the HTML of the page. Am I misunderstanding where MozBar is getting the data it is displaying? Other SEO extensions like "META SEO inspector"do not display these inconsistencies. EupH5sG

Duplicate Page Content
The site crawl is registering duplicate page content for our storefront site, but the pages aren't the same. They're ascending pages within the same category (ex: Featured, Featured pg2, Featured pg3, and so on). What can be done to fix these errors or prevent them in the future?

Why do my top linking domains according to Webmaster tools, not even appear in my OSE report?
I know the Google index is obviously a lot larger than the MOZ index...but.... I have 8,000 links from blogspot.com according to Webmaster tools, and just one link according to OSE I have 600 links from an online dictionary according to Webmaster tools, not one is mentioned in my OSE report. I'd go so far as to say most of my top 10 linking domains according to Webmaster Tools, don't even have a single mention in my OSE report. We've been hit hard by Penguin 2.0 and I want to look at our link profile.....it seems OSE may be great for looking at my competitors link profiles, but for my own site it seems to be, well, not very accurate at all! So from a trying to do undo the damage caused by Penguin 2.0 point of view, should I just use webmaster tools and forget about OSE? Thanks!
