Not sure if I need to be concerned with duplicate content plus too many links

Someone else supports this site in terms of making changes so I want to make sure that I know what I am talking about before I speak to them about changes.
We seem to have a lot of duplicate content and duplicate titles.
This is an example http://www.commonwealthcontractors.com/tag/big-data-scientists/ of a duplicate. Do I need to get things changed?
The other problem that crops up on reports is too many on page links. I am going to get shot of the block of tags but need to keep the news. Is there much else I can do?

With the url above, there is some duplicate content on the site and given the blog type it is I am not sure that it is helpful or a problem. I would suggest you nofollow the archives due to the way they are scrolling and showing as separate pages over and over.
As to the internal linking, from what I see there are not a ton of internal links here. Typically, you here keep it under 100 or keep it under 200. To me, if you have over 100 the page is a bit busy. You have less than 100 on the homepage and I do not think you have a real issue there.

Simply put imagine your site is a book, a user comes along and finds the book has two chapter ones with the same title and the same page content - what value is that to the reader? None
Search engines are all about search quality and content, if they are seeing duplicate titles, descriptions and content how are they going to know what content on your pages is relevant to the user and delivers value to the users need.
I would make it a best practice for your business to ensure site content is rich, valuable and not duplicated across your sites domain. Also make sure descriptions and titles are short but descriptive. Maybe you can get your site's content manager to use great little tools like SEOMofo for this - http://www.seomofo.com/snippet-optimizer.html
Also get them looking at using schema.org and develop rich snippets for your page metadata.
Others can maybe come back with a better answer on that one - (read Robert's comments below regarding link quantities).

What constitutes duplicate content on a page?
I am working on SEO for a Shopify store. Their products are very similar, hence the pages are so similar that Moz shows them as duplicate content. The only difference in the product pages is the title and model number. I am going to "go for the gold" and try re-writing all the product descriptions. It's incredibly difficult due to the products being nearly identical with just a minor variation. I know I could go down the road of just creating variants --- but the customer is not down for that. Here's my question: what constitutes duplicate content? 80% of the content, 90%???? If I can going to re-write the descriptions, what should I aim for? Thank you!

Do we need to worry about internal duplicate content?
Hi, I have a question about internal duplicate content. We have a catalogue of around 4000 products. Most of these do have individual descriptions but for most of the products they contain a generic summary that includes a sentence to begin with that includes each product name. We're currently working on descriptions for each product, but as you can imagine it's quite a chore. I was wondering if there are actually any penalties for this or whether we can ignore the crawl errors from the moz report? Thanks in Advance!

Help With Duplicated Content
Hi Moz Community, I am having some issue's with duplicated content, i recently removed the .html from all of our links and moz has reported it as being duplicated. I have been reading up about Canonicalization and would to verify some details, when using the canonical tag would it be placed in the /mywebpage.html or /mywebpage file? Too Many On-Page Links
Hi, I did a SEOmoz campaign and got results today, One of the results is Too "Many On-Page Links" when i am drilling down, i see that that's include inside links. for example, i sale food, i have my main department window - inside i have 30 products - each product is linked to a detailed page about the product. so automatically i have 30 links - not including all the others in this page, and i easily get over 100 and even sometimes 200 is this a big issue? does it damages my SEO? If yes, is there a way to write the HTML in a way that internal links like that wont be counted? Thank you SEOWiseUs

Duplicate Content - Delete it or NoIndex?
Last month I realized that one of my freelancers had been feeding my website with copied / spun content and sadly, there's lots of it. And of course it got my website to be hit hard by the last Panda update. Now that I've identified the content, what the best thing to do? Should I delete it permanently and get 404 errors or should I set the pages' robot meta tag to "nofollow"?

Duplicate Page Content on Empty Manufacturer Pages
I work for an internet retailer that specializes in pet supplies and medications. I was going through the Crawl Diagnostics for our website, and I saw in the Duplicate Page Content section that some of our manufacturer pages were getting flagged. The way our site is set up is that when products are discontinued we mark them as discontinued and use 301 redirects to redirect their URLs to other relevant products, brands, or our homepage. We do the same thing with brand and manufacturer pages if all of their products are discontinued. 90% of the time, this is a manual process. However, the other 10% of the time certain products come and go automatically as part of our inventory system with one of our fulfillment partners. This can sometimes create empty manufacturer pages. I can't redirect these empty pages because there's a chance that products will be brought back in stock and the page will be populated again. What can we do so that these pages won't get marked as duplicates while they're empty? Write unique short descriptions about the companies? Would the placement of these short descriptions matter--top of the page under the category name vs bottom of the page underneath where the products would go? The links in the left sidebar, top, and in the footer our part of our site architecture, so those are always going to be the same. Dropped rankings due to too many links, help needed
We have just re-designed our site and added a big drop-down navigation menu to help users get straight to the category/sub-category they are looking for, take a look at http://www.discountfiresupplies.co.uk to see what I mean. Since doing so our rankings have dropped which we've been told may be because there are now so many links on (particularly) the home page diluting the rankings of that page. We've been advised that if we hide the drop-down menus using "style='display: none'" until they are required that the search engines will ignore them which we have now done but is this correct or will they still be indexed? Blog content on homepage - Dupe Content Penalty?
Hi All, I am working on a website which has a blog at domain.com/blog/ On the homepage they are currently looping the latest 5 blog posts in a 'Latest News' tab. Is this therefore classed as dupe content, and would this be penalized by Google? Should I recommend they use the excerpts instead of full articles and simply loop the excerpts on the homepage?
