Crawl Diagnostics - nofollow - reducing duplicate pages
-
Hi
I'm looking at a crawl diagnostic report, I can see I have many duplicate pages, the reason for this is that when a brand filter is applied to a page. IE
www.mysite.com/mycategory - lets say this is the product listing page
www.mysite.com/category/mybrand - and this is the same page but with a brand filter applied
www.mysite.com/category/myotherbrand - and this is the same page but with a different brand filter appliedI had intially appendeded the meta title, description and keywords with some extra content if a brand filter was applied, because the page on the whole does have different content. IE I would have a custom meta information, H1 tag and products on that page just for that specific brand.
However I am wondering if these two pages are really just competing with each other as lots of the content will be the same.Should I scrap that approach and use either nofollow on the brand filter link, or simply use a canonical.
Thanks, James

I guess the issue here is really to what extent my pages are considered a subset of another. The way my page is coded, controlled via the cms, the subset page could have a lot more content specific to the brand for that page. IE: Different meta, banners, brand information
So, yes, the actual products themselves are a simple subset, but the surrounding content may be quite unique to that brand. Therefore should I still use canonical, not sure.... thoughts???

That is yet another reason Rel=canonical was created... for when one page is a subset of another page. E.g. Your Nike page is a subset of the Trainers page.
-
Hi, thanks for the reply, however the two pages with the brand filter do have different content, for example
Page 1a, trainers page with no filter applied, unique meta info
Page 1b, trainers page with Nike filter applied, unique meta info and has 20 products, all just Nike products
Page 1c, trainers page with Adidas filter applied, unique meta info and has 20 products, all just Adidas products
So all three pages have different content, its just that the 'combination page' 1a has products for both Nike and Adidas.
Hope that explains it better, I'm fully aware of the user for canonical but this is a bit of a grey area.

The whole point of canonical is to do what your describing.
Why specify a canonical page?
It's common for a site to have several pages listing the same set of products. For example, one page might display products sorted in alphabetical order, while other pages display the same products listed by price or by rating.

Why page load time is different in google webmaster vs what is displayed in moz?
When I analyze the site through Moz tool and compare the results with google webmaster, I am not able to figure what why Moz does not report the slow pages. Fro example this page has an avrage LCP of 3.0 sec https://www.collegehippo.com/graduate-school/programs/gre-score-business-analytics-data-analytics When I see the report in moz, it does not point to any such issue. Should I be worried about what google reports and try to fix the page?

Duplicate Content on Website with Multiple Locations
Hi there, I've spent hours reading posts on duplicate content and googling this but I'm still not sure what to do. We created a site that has two WP installs for a company with two different locations - the landing page is website.com and links to WP install 1 (website.com/city1), and WP install 2 (website.com/city2). They specifically wanted two different sites so they could be managed by staff at either location. However some of the pages have the same content - ie. services, policies, etc. so all of those are showing errors for duplicate content. All pages have different city-specific URL's and meta-descriptions but that clearly doesn't help. We can't redirect the "duplicate" pages because then it would take the user to the other city's specific site. Is there anything we can do?? Is this going to significantly damage rankings? Thanks kindly for any help you can provide.

Moz's on-page grader
Hello, I am having an issue with Moz's on-page grader. Grading the page, http://www.babyklar.dk/tigerspring/26-ugers-springet.html for the keyword 'Tigerspring 26 uger' I am receiving the error message: 'Exact keyword is used in page title' - tagging it as a highly important but easy fix. But I only have the words "Tigerspring 26 uger" in the title, so how can this not grade as Exact keyword? Is there somthing wrong with the system? Or is it me? Thanks very much. Best regards

On-Page Grader not working?
I've been using the On-Page Grader tool for a while now, and have always had great success using it to better optimize my pages. But just recently I've noticed that it's not detecting any changes I make to any of my pages.
Moz Bar | | CMinc
For example: One of my pages was coming up with Exact Keyword is Used in Page Title. So I changed it and uploaded it to the site and then clicked the re-grade page button. The only problem is that it's not seeing any of the changes that I made.1 -

Why my on-page report card won't improve?
For my page www.homedestination.com/Minneapolis-homes-for-sale.html, Moz ranks the page as an "F" for the keyword "Minneapolis home buyers". All data in the report card is from months ago. using the "Grade my On-Page Optimization" button fails to show any updates - even after months. For example the title is actually "Minneapolis Homes For Sale| buying a Minneapolis home | Homebuyers" while Moz says it is ""Minneapolis Homes For Sale | Home Destination | Jenna Thuening" Moz says the description tag is "Realtor Jenna Theuning helping real estate buyers find Minnetonka homes for sale, owner of Home Destination. CDPE also helps with foreclosure and short sales buying." and "Minneapolis homes for sale, and Minneapolis listing, and Minneapolis upscale real estate, and Minneapolis lakeside properties provided by Home Destination"" when it is actually "Minneapolis homes for sale, and Minneapolis listing, Minneapolis home buyers, and Minneapolis lakeside properties provided by Home Destination." Additionally, my weekly ranking reports seems "stuck" and continues to show many "F" ranked keywords that have been updated for some time. Amy advice on how to see improvements?

How do I get Moz to crawl my site?
If I'm not mistaken, Moz will crawl my site once a week and let me know of any errors, notices etc.. But can I ask them to crawl once I have updated all the errors? or do I have to wait for them to do this automatically?
