Sitemap with links and images together
-
Hi there, my e-commerce platform (Magento with "Mageworx SEO Enterprise" plugin) is generating an sitemap.xml that mix text (links) and images, and the result is something like that:
<url><loc>http://www.e-lustre.com.br/abajur/abajur-keops</loc>
<lastmod>2011-04-10</lastmod>
<changefreq>daily</changefreq>
<priority>1.0</priority>
image:imageimage:lochttp://www.e-lustre.com.br/catalog/product/image/size/250x250/e/-/e- lustre_mantra_0030_grande.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url>WebmasterTools accepts it, but recognize it as an image sitemap. Have you seen that kind of sitemap, and most important, do you think that's a problem ?

Thank you very much, it´s all clear now.

Hi Douglas!
According to http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2010/06/sitemaps-one-file-many-content-types.html this should not be a problem in itself, but it seems to me that you should also include what kind of sitemap you have in place. You should define the <urlset xmlns="">in your file. Maybe that would do the trick?</urlset>
Best regards,
Anders

Not all images indexed in Google
Hi all, Recently, got an unusual issue with images in Google index. We have more than 1,500 images in our sitemap, but according to Search Console only 273 of those are indexed. If I check Google image search directly, I find more images in index, but still not all of them. For example this post has 28 images and only 17 are indexed in Google image. This is happening to other posts as well. Checked all possible reasons (missing alt, image as background, file size, fetch and render in Search Console), but none of these are relevant in our case. So, everything looks fine, but not all images are in index. Any ideas on this issue? Your feedback is much appreciated, thanks

Best Practices for Image Optimisation
Hi Guys, I would love some recommendations from you all. A potential client of mine is currently hosting all their website image galleries (of which there are many) on a flickr account and realise that they could gain more leverage in Google images (currently none of their images cover off any of the basics for optimisation eg filename, alt text etc), I did say that these basics would at least need to be covered off and that Image hosting is supposedly an important factor especially when it comes to driving traffic from Google Image Search. (potentially images hosted on the same domain as the text are given more value than the images hosted at another domain like websites such as Flickr). The client has now come back saying they have done some 'reading' and that this suggests a sub-domain could be the way to go, e.g. images.mydomain.com - would love feedback on this before I go back to them as it would be a huge undertaking for them. Cheers

Sitemap
Hi, I am setting up a new sitemap for our website. the website contains about 8000 - 10.000 pages. Of wich are 6000 productpages. I have 10 categories, about 80 sub-catagories and about 400 sub-sub categories ( these ar my most important landingpages) At this moment our sitemap is only 1 MB. From that point of view 1 sitemap will be enough. But can i take SEO advantage by splitting this sitemap in 10 categories? Or are there other ways to set it up for a better SEO? Thanks!

Hi, I just recive a "nice" Massage at my WMT- Unnatural links to your site—impacts links _Google has detected a pattern of unnatural artificial, deceptive, or manipulative links pointing to pages on this site. Some links may be outside of the webmaster’s control, so for this incident we are taking targeted action on the unnatural links instead of on the site’s ranking as a whole. What is the value of having an HTML sitemap on site?
For years now whenever we recreate a site we always set up both an xml sitemap and an html sitemap page. Stupid question maybe - but what is the value to having an html sitemap on site?

WP image pages
I used Dreamweaver for years but have recently been switching to Wordpress. On the whole the results have been very positive. However, I don't like the way that WP generates a page for images when the image is inserted into a blog post. I was just reading this http://www.eyeflow.com/content-strength-audit/ excellent article on Content Strength Audit and it referred to this problem as well. Often, when I insert an image into a blog, I delete the reference to the image page and link directly to the image. Is this an effective way to deal with the is problem? Is there a better approach? Best,

Noob 101 - Sitemaps
Hi guys, looking for some sitemap help. I'm running two seperate systems so my auto-generated sitemap on the main system has a few holes in it. I'd like to submit this to webmaster anyway, and then plug the holes with missing pages by adding them to 'Fetch as Google'. Does that make sense or will Google ignore one of them? Many thanks, Idiot
