Now that Google is no longer publicly displaying Page Rank updates, how will this effect Moz's ability to calculate DA and PA?
-
Hi,
How much more important do you guys think that Moz's Page Authority and Domain Authority metrics are going to become now that Google has stopped giving people public access to a site or pages Page Rank?
And how accurate is PA and DA as a measurement in comparison to Page Rank..so for example if I was seeking a guestposting opportunity and saw a site as having a PR of 4....if I now looked to Moz's Page and Domain Authority metrics instead...would that still give me equivalent information on the strength of that domain and thus make a judgement on whether it will be a worthy site for a guestpost..
I guess what I am asking is, how close is now looking at Moz's metrics (ie. a third party company) to the info on PageRank that was being updated by Google themselves?
Also will the lack of updated public PR info from Google effect the ability for Moz to calculate PA and DA??
Look forward to your replies on this,

would now looking at the DA and PA of the domain/page respectively, be equally effective in determining the quality of a site, to ascertain whether it is worth reaching out to...?
-Yea it will be more effective.
Hope this helps

Okay thank you.
I final question, in context of an example.
So based on the above, I would assume that, say someone was seeking a relevant guest post opportunity for a high quality piece of content that they had written. Whereas in the past they may have looked at a domains/sites PageRank to determine the authority/strength of a site/page when deciding which sites to reach out with the content piece, would now looking at the DA and PA of the domain/page respectively, be equally effective in determining the quality of a site, to ascertain whether it is worth reaching out to...?
Thanks.

"But what I was getting at was, did DA and PA scores take publicly available Page Rank information into account when compiling the scores?"
No they did not, Page Rank was not as great of a metric to track to begin with.
UPDATE I have no sure way of knowing if they did so in the past or starting out, maybe we will get an actual answer from a Moz staff if it was part of dozen of other factors. But its highly unlikely.

Hi thanks for your response,
But what I was getting at was, did DA and PA scores take publicly available Page Rank information into account when compiling the scores?
Because if they did, surely the scores will have changed/possibly becoming less accurate as Google has now made PageRank data private, so that is one less factor that Moz can include in their scores for DA and PA?
-
Domain Authority is Moz's calculated metric for how well a given domain is likely to rank in Google's search results. It is based off data from the Mozscape web index and includes link counts, MozRank and MozTrust scores, and dozens of other factors.
(source: http://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority)
At this point because its been atleast 6mo since last PR was updated, DA and PA is more accurate.
"would that still give me equivalent information on the strength of that domain and thus make a judgement on whether it will be a worthy site for a guestpost"
-In my opinion it has always given a more valid metric of authority and strength than PR.
The only downside and to comment to "how close is now looking at Moz's metrics (ie. a third party company) to the info on PageRank that was being updated by Google themselves"
Mozscape is not as large as the Google index, but it is pretty big and significant now.
Hope this helps

What Google Analytics Data to Share with Potential Website Buyer
Hi Mozzers,
Industry News | | emerald
We have contacted our competitors to let them know we would like to sell our website (domain and all content). One of them has asked for Google Analytics data. Which parts of this and how is this data best shared in such a case? As this is the opening of offers, I'm assuming some kind of PDF export with a summary of some Analytics data is sufficient to see who is serious. Then for those who are serious more data could be shared. Or is it ever ok to share your full Analytics with a competitor? Would love to hear what data and best practises are used to share this kind of information. Thank you.0 -

Convert Oganic ranking into Local Search Results
Hi, Right now, my website appears in top 5 results in organic SERPs, but I noticed that my business has gradually started going down, as my local results have been replaced by organic search results. Initially I used to rank in local results, but now, I appear in organic results so the no. of calls/day have decreased significantly. Now, I again want to appear in local search results instead of organic results. Please advice what should I do to remove my listing from organic search results and improve position in local search results PFA the screenshots for both the results for your better understanding. I look forward to hearing from you. Regards, qHKAt.png 0cPOp.png

Google Panda 2.5 Update?
On Sunday 18th Sept I noticed a huge drop in our rankings for keywords that we were doing extremely well. Majority of the keyword SERP positions for our main targetted keywords were #1 and #2. These have all drop the bottom part of first page. Other new keywords we were targetting had climbed very well (some hovering just below top 10 and some in top 10 of Google UK SERP. These have all completely dropped off. Although analysing the site thouroughly (both on-page and link profile) it doesnt appear to have any issue significant enough to cause a penalty. From Monday 20th Sept (everybody back to work) the threads here http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?tid=76830633df82fd8e&hl=en&start=5760 and http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/4364389.htm seem to be buzzing over unexpected SERP drops and increases. By that I assume Panda 2.5 or at least some form of update taken/taking place? If anybody know of the reent heavy fluctuations which seem to have started in the weeken or have experienced unexpected positions increaes/drops, I would be very interested to hear/read from you. Cheers, Mo Raja

SEO hosting (EU/Spanish IP's) any1?
Hello all, I'm currently trying to find a great hosting company which can offer a fast and stable service and more important, with the possibility of geolocalizing IP's of Europe and concretely for Spain. I've found Ixwebhosting but they only offer US Ip's, as their datacenters are there. I don't know if it's the same thing outside spain, but here the hosting companies only use to have a single "C-class" range so even buying them different IP's doesn't help that much, and it isn't cheap (2€/month/ip...). So if you know someone offering what I'm looking for (or really close to it) drop a line, I'll appreciate your help! 🙂
